Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for transferring the cooling water of a wet cooling tower or a wet / dry cooling tower after the heat exchange with the cooling air in the return for water distribution according to the features in the preamble of claim 1.
- wet cooling towers or the wet sections of wet / dry cooling towers have so far generally been designed so that the cooling water after leaving the heat exchanger elements, for. B. trickle internals, falls freely down into a collecting basin and is pumped up again from here into the water distribution.
- the space below the heat exchanger elements also called the rain zone
- the rain zone causes about 20 to 40% of the total pressure loss.
- only a maximum of 10% of the total heat transfer takes place in this rain zone.
- pump outputs due to the drop height of the cooling water, which is approximately equal to the air inflow height, pump outputs of up to approximately 0.5% of the total electrical power plant output are required.
- the first consideration would be to make the air inflow level smaller in order to reduce the operating costs dependent on the air inflow level.
- a disadvantage of this would be that if the air inflow level was too low, the cooling tower would only be flowed through unevenly and, in order to achieve the efficiency that could be achieved at a higher air inflow level, overall it would have to be built considerably higher.
- the invention has for its object to improve the device described in the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that in order to reduce the pressure loss, the air flow cross section in the area of the water baffle plates can be increased significantly.
- the cooling water emerging from the heat exchanger elements thus immediately reaches inclined drainage surfaces, from which it then passes in thin layers onto the vertically extending surface areas with the parallel guide groove structures.
- the design of these guide groove structures is such that the natural surface tension of the cooling water is used to hold the cooling water against gravity in the laterally open guide groove structures, which have a correspondingly small cross section, and to discharge them into the water collection channels arranged transversely to the water guide plates.
- the cross section of all guide grooves of a water guide plate is of course based on the maximum amount of water.
- the usable air duct cross-section is not restricted by the deflection of the thin water layers and the lateral drainage to the water collection channels arranged next to the water guide plates, that is to say transversely to these, the advantage is achieved that the air-side resistance and thereby the required cooling tower height are reduced since there is no air resistance in the rain area below the cooling tower internals.
- the pumping head required for pumping the water to the water distribution is considerably reduced.
- the free space under the water baffle plates can now be dimensioned specifically as it requires an optimal flow of cooling air.
- the further advantage of a significantly reduced noise level is achieved. As a result, the noise insulation measures required up to now, which required considerable effort, are now also eliminated.
- an expedient embodiment of the invention provides the features of claim 3. In this case, only the upper end sections extending in a vertical plane can be extended into the drainage surfaces. However, it is also conceivable that even inclined longitudinal sections of the guide groove structures extend into the run-off surfaces.
- each water collection channel then only needs to be adjusted to the amount of the cooling water flowing in the guide groove structures assigned to it.
- the water collection channels can also be kept flatter.
- separate pumps are assigned to each of the water collection channels located at the same height level, the output and size of which are specifically geared to the amount of cooling water generated there. This also leads to further improvements in terms of the pumping head and thus in terms of reducing the energy requirement.
- the features of claim 11 serve to further improve the water transfer from the drain surfaces to the vertically extending surface regions.
- guide groove structures makes it possible to provide very thin-walled water guide plates. These can then be formed from deep-drawn or injection-molded plastic in accordance with the features of claim 12. In particular, they consist of impact-resistant polystyrene. This results in an advantageous wall thickness in accordance with the features of claim 14.
- a further improvement of the cooling water transfer from the drain surfaces to the vertical surface areas is achieved with the features of claim 16.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 denotes the water distribution of a wet cooling tower on a heat exchanger element 2.
- the heat exchanger element 2 can, for. B. be formed by trickle internals.
- a plurality of water guide plates 3 arranged parallel to one another, each having a vertically extending surface area 4 and an inclined drain surface 5 adjoining on the top.
- the inclination of the drainage surfaces 5 is such that the distance between two adjacent water guide plates 3 is covered so that no cooling water can flow directly from the heat exchanger element 2 between the water guide plates 3.
- the water guide plates 3 consist of a deep-drawn or injection-molded impact-resistant polystyrene with a wall thickness of 0.5 mm. Their surfaces are coated with a dispersion varnish, which increases the wettability.
- each water collection channels 7 which are arranged at a distance from one another and are open at the top and feed the cooling water to a pipeline (not shown in more detail), from where the cooling water is again fed directly or indirectly to the water distribution 1.
- guide groove structures 8 are formed in the vertically extending surface areas 4 of the water guide plates 3 at 20 °, which extend from the upper edges 9 of the vertical surface areas 4 to the lateral vertical edges 6.
- the guide groove structures 8 can be wave-shaped or meandering. Both embodiments can optionally also have undercut length ranges.
- the cooling water 15 striking the drainage surfaces 5 reaches the guide groove structures 8, which extend with respect to their upper end sections 10 in a vertical plane.
- the cross section of the guide groove structures 8 is based on the maximum amount of cooling water. Due to the cross-section of the guide groove structures 8 in connection with the surface tension of the cooling water 15, the cooling water 15 remains in these guide groove structures 8 and is fed to the lateral water collecting channels 7 from the drainage surfaces 5 in a film-like manner.
- FIG. 1 in FIG. 1 denotes stiffening ribs which impart the required torsional rigidity to the water guide plates 3.
- FIG. 5 shows that the upper end sections 10 of the guide groove structures 8, which extend in vertical planes, can be extended into the inclined drainage surface 5.
- FIG. 6 shows that the inclined longitudinal sections 12 of the guide groove structures 8 can also extend into the drainage surface 5, if necessary.
- FIG. 7 shows an embodiment in which the inclined longitudinal sections 12 of the guide groove structures 8 extend at 45 ° to the horizontal
- FIG. 8 illustrates an embodiment in which the inclined longitudinal sections 12 of the guide groove structures 8 extend at an angle of 15 ° to the horizontal .
- stiffening ribs are again designated by 11.
- FIGS. 9 and 10 show an embodiment of water guide plates 3 in which these transition areas 9 are rounded.
- FIGS. 9 and 10 also show that in the regions of the drainage surfaces 5 adjoining the vertically extending surface regions 4, pronounced surface sections 13 (left half of FIG. 10) or tongue-like surface sections 14 (right half of FIG. 10) are provided are. With the help of these surface sections 13, 14, it is possible to direct the cooling water 15 dripping onto the drain surfaces 5 onto both sides of the water guide plates 3, so that they are wetted accordingly. The transfer of the cooling water can be further improved by providing pronounced deflection lugs 16 in the transition area 9 on both sides.
Abstract
The cooling water (15) emerging from the heat exchanger elements (2) immediately reaches inclined drain surfaces (5) of thin water guide plates (3) arranged next to one another. Vertically extending surface areas (4) adjoin these drainage surfaces (5). Guide groove structures (8) are embossed in these surface areas (4). These guide groove structures (8) have longitudinal sections (12) inclined to the horizontal and short upper end sections (10) extending in vertical planes. The guide groove structures (8) extend from the upper edges (9) to the lateral vertical edges (6). They guide the cooling water (15) from the drainage surfaces (5) to the water collection channels (7) running transversely to the water guide plates (3) using their surface tension. With this arrangement, the cooling water (15) is intercepted immediately below the heat exchanger elements (2). The flow cross-section of the cooling air is not narrowed. The pumping head is reduced. The pressure drop on the cooling air side is considerably reduced.
Description
The invention relates to a device for transferring the cooling water of a wet cooling tower or a wet / dry cooling tower after the heat exchange with the cooling air in the return for water distribution according to the features in the preamble of
Wet cooling towers or the wet sections of wet / dry cooling towers have so far generally been designed so that the cooling water after leaving the heat exchanger elements, for. B. trickle internals, falls freely down into a collecting basin and is pumped up again from here into the water distribution. When heat exchanger elements flow from below from the cooling air, the space below the heat exchanger elements, also called the rain zone, causes about 20 to 40% of the total pressure loss. On the other hand, only a maximum of 10% of the total heat transfer takes place in this rain zone. In addition, due to the drop height of the cooling water, which is approximately equal to the air inflow height, pump outputs of up to approximately 0.5% of the total electrical power plant output are required.
Based on these findings, the first consideration would be to make the air inflow level smaller in order to reduce the operating costs dependent on the air inflow level. A disadvantage of this, however, would be that if the air inflow level was too low, the cooling tower would only be flowed through unevenly and, in order to achieve the efficiency that could be achieved at a higher air inflow level, overall it would have to be built considerably higher.
The difficulties of the different design of the air inflow height (higher air inflow height = higher operating costs, lower air inflow height = higher investment costs due to the higher cooling tower height) could then be avoided if the cooling water could be intercepted and collected immediately below the heat exchanger elements. Irrespective of the geodetic installation height of the heat exchanger elements, the required delivery rate would then practically always be the same, namely according to the smallest possible delivery height.
A proposal in this direction is part of the prior art by DE-OS 26 19 407. In this case, in the vertical cross section, wave-shaped water guide plates acting as trickling plates are provided at their lower edge regions with water collecting channels extending in the longitudinal direction of the water guide plates, which can be arranged on both sides or on one side or offset from one another in height. Since the entire cooling water trickles down on the water baffle plates and then has to be collected by the collecting troughs, the free cross-sectional area between the water collecting troughs available for the cooling air flowing in from below is limited to a size that is a maximum of around 1/4 to 1/2 of the total available cross-sectional area of the cooling tower. This situation is independent of the shapes of the water guide plates and the water collection channels. Since the water collection channels drastically narrow the air flow cross-section, the usable portion of the flow cross-section is consistently considerably below 50%. However, this entails a large additional pressure loss, which consequently results in larger cooling towers, which cause higher investment costs.
The invention has for its object to improve the device described in the preamble of
This object is achieved according to the invention in the features listed in the characterizing part of
The cooling water emerging from the heat exchanger elements thus immediately reaches inclined drainage surfaces, from which it then passes in thin layers onto the vertically extending surface areas with the parallel guide groove structures. The design of these guide groove structures is such that the natural surface tension of the cooling water is used to hold the cooling water against gravity in the laterally open guide groove structures, which have a correspondingly small cross section, and to discharge them into the water collection channels arranged transversely to the water guide plates. The cross section of all guide grooves of a water guide plate is of course based on the maximum amount of water. Since the usable air duct cross-section is not restricted by the deflection of the thin water layers and the lateral drainage to the water collection channels arranged next to the water guide plates, that is to say transversely to these, the advantage is achieved that the air-side resistance and thereby the required cooling tower height are reduced since there is no air resistance in the rain area below the cooling tower internals. In addition, the pumping head required for pumping the water to the water distribution is considerably reduced. The free space under the water baffle plates can now be dimensioned specifically as it requires an optimal flow of cooling air. In addition, the further advantage of a significantly reduced noise level is achieved. As a result, the noise insulation measures required up to now, which required considerable effort, are now also eliminated.
The features of
Although it is sufficient in most cases that the guide groove structures begin at the transition area from the vertically extending surface areas to the drainage surfaces, an expedient embodiment of the invention provides the features of
An effective drainage of the cooling water is guaranteed when the features of
The Führungsnutstrukturen to at least one side extending from the vertically according to claim 6 i! Surface areas be pronounced. Even with a one-sided configuration, however, it is ensured that channel-like configurations are present on both sides of the water baffle plates, which allow the cooling water to be conducted on both surfaces of the water baffle plates from the drainage surfaces to the water collection channels.
The cross-section of the guide groove structures is in itself arbitrary. It is only necessary to ensure (claim 7) that the surface tension of the cooling water is fully utilized for the proper discharge of the cooling water against gravity.
In diesem Zusammenhang bestehen dann weitere Ausführungsformen in den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 8.In this context, there are further embodiments in the features of
The distance between the outer sides of the water collecting troughs arranged transversely on both vertical edges of a water guide plate is then reduced even more and the usable air flow cross section is increased if the features of
In order to bring the cooling water from the drainage surfaces specifically to both surfaces of the water guide plates, the features of
The arrangement of guide groove structures makes it possible to provide very thin-walled water guide plates. These can then be formed from deep-drawn or injection-molded plastic in accordance with the features of
The adhesion of the cooling water in the guide groove structures is advantageously improved with the features of
A further improvement of the cooling water transfer from the drain surfaces to the vertical surface areas is achieved with the features of
