Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing contact components, in each of which one or more contacts made of multilayer contacts are attached to a carrier tape.
- bimetal contacts are used in very large quantities, particularly for the purposes of power engineering.
- These bimetallic contacts are generally supplied as contact rivets, the rivet shaft and a base plate being generally made of copper, while the actual contact is made of silver or a silver alloy.
- These contact rivets are produced by welding a copper wire (or copper alloy) with a correspondingly strong silver wire (or silver alloy) on the end faces, separating it and embossing it into a rivet.
- Such contacts which are used in heavy current technology, can hardly be used in low current technology, since the contact transition resistance of the silver or silver alloy contact surface is too high for weak currents and voltages.
- precious metal contact surfaces are required here, preferably gold contacts or contacts coated with gold. For economic reasons, the precious metal layers may only have a certain thickness. Manufacturing as described above for the bimetal contacts is therefore out of the question.
- Multilayer contact metals are also used to save precious metal, preferably with a gold top layer. Production as described above is also not possible with these materials.
- the prior art also includes a method for producing contact components, in which the contacts are produced from a multi-layered contact strip.
- the multi-layer contact tape consists of a base tape made of relatively inferior material to which the contact material is applied in one or more layers. After separating cuboid or rod-shaped parts, these parts can be deformed again and riveted or pressed into corresponding openings in a carrier tape.
- the disadvantage in the production of contact components according to this prior art is that the contact material coating is very heavily stressed by the subsequent mechanical deformation, so that the desired layer structure cannot generally be maintained. Attempts have therefore already been made to produce contact components without previously deforming the material produced from a contact strip.
- the strong mechanical stress mentioned above is due in particular to the fact that the thickness of the separated contact pieces is the same over the entire length of the contact pieces, that is to say that in contrast to the contact rivet described above, quite a lot of material is deformed with a correspondingly high pressure to insert these contact pieces into the carrier tape must become.
- a cross-sectionally T-shaped band is produced from cold-embossable metal, that the band is connected on its upper side to the contact material, that contact pieces of the desired length are separated from the contact band thus produced in that the carrier tape, the width of the web of the T-shaped tape and the length of the contact pieces are cut out corresponding openings and that the contact pieces are inserted into these openings and stamped on the underside.
- the method according to the invention is thus similar to the method described above, in which a contact strip was also produced and contact pieces, possibly with 8 edges, were punched out.
- a full band is used as the base band, but a band with a T-shaped cross section, so that to fasten this contact piece on the carrier band no longer the material corresponding to the dimensions of the contact, but only a small part, for example 1 / 5 to 1/3 of this material must be deformed.
- the specific pressure on the top of the contact piece that is to say on the contact material, is by an order of magnitude lower than on the “shaft” of the contact piece due to this change in cross section, so that the mechanical load on the contact material layer is negligibly small. This load can be reduced even further in that the web of the contact strip on both sides of the separation point of the contact piece the distance of the web is separated from the rest of the stem accordingly, so that this "shaft” is again reduced in volume.
- the contact material layer is now hardly subjected to any mechanical stress when the method according to the invention is used, this layer can be built up in accordance with the respective requirements without having to worry that this contact material layer is deformed.
- Gold, gold alloys, silver, silver alloys and silver-metal oxide contact materials are recommended as materials.
- the contact material layer can be completely kept free of any mechanical stress in that the contact material is left on both sides, leaving an edge made of the top material of the T-shaped band, on the top of the T-shaped band.
- the counter-holder for deforming the "shaft" can only be placed on the exposed edge, so that the contact material is not touched at all.
- the same effect results if the top of the T-shaped band is profiled and only the protruding parts are coated, for example by electroplating.
- a counterholder can attack on both sides of the cusp without touching the contact material.
- the T-shaped band is expediently made from easily deformable copper or a corresponding copper alloy.
- This band can be produced in non-cutting or chip-producing production. It is also possible to assemble the T-shaped band from two flat bands connected to one another in a T-shape, the two bands also being able to be made of different materials.
- the vertical bar of this T-shaped band can be made of easily deformable copper, while the cross bar can be made of nickel or a nickel alloy to prevent corrosive products from migrating onto the contact material.
- both the production of the contact strip, as well as the cutting into contact pieces and the insertion of these contact pieces into the carrier strip can be carried out automatically, so that this requirement is also met.
- the T-shaped band 1, 11 is formed from a web 2 and a transverse web 3, 13.
- the T-shaped band 1 is made of one piece of copper or a copper alloy both in the web 2 and in the transverse web 3, while the band 11 is formed in the web 2 from copper, but in the cross web 13 from a different material, for example from nickel or a nickel alloy.
- a contact material strip 4, 14 is applied to this T-shaped strip 1, 11, it being possible to use any joining methods, such as profile plating, cold roll plating, hot roll plating, roller seam welding, soldering, laser welding, electron beam welding.
- the contact material strips 4 exist here Made from a single material, the binders 14 are multi-layer materials. For example, (FIG. 2) two layers of noble metal 6, 7 can follow a nickel layer 5, or another layer of noble metal 8 (FIG. 4) can also be inserted into the uppermost layer of noble metal 7 as a contact surface.
- the contact metal layer 4, 14 covers the entire width of the transverse web 3, 13.
- the T-shaped band 21 is made of a web 2, for example made of copper, and a crossbar 23, for example made of nickel or a nickel alloy, the crossbar 23 being profiled so that there are free webs 9 on both sides of the contact material 9, on which the counterholders can be supported when inserting the contact pieces 21 in a carrier tape 10.
- FIG. 6 shows a side view of a contact strip.
- the contacts are separated from the contact strip in accordance with the desired length, in this embodiment the web 2 of the contact strip being separated on both sides of the separation point, corresponding to the distance of the web 2 from the transverse web edge of the transverse web 3, 13, 23.
- FIG. 7 shows a contact piece 15 inserted into a carrier tape 10, which in turn has webs 9 on both sides for fitting the counter-holder, as well as a profile on the upper side of the cross bar 23, the cusp of this profile being provided with a precious metal layer 4 in a crescent shape.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1 bis
- Fig. 6 ein Kontaktband in Seitenansicht und
- Fig. 6 zeigt ein Kontaktband in Seitenansicht.
