Abstract

1. A continuously operating washing plant for mattresses, wherein the goods to be washed are led by means of a transportation device past a device effecting the washing mechanism and through several treating baths provided in tubs, characterized by that the tubs (1) for the various treating baths, as washing baths, disinfecting baths, or rinsing baths, are arranged one above the other.

Description

The invention relates to a washing system for sodium mattresses, in particular foam mattresses, in which the sodium mattresses are continuously guided through flat tubs provided with transor devices for the mattresses, which contain washing liquid. Disinfectant or fresh water are filled, whereby the mattresses are exposed to the necessary washing mechanics during the passage through rotating brushes, upsetting rollers and water jet pipes, and in which the mattresses are drained by a roller press after passing through the washing zone, disinfection zone and rinsing zone and a warm air stream is dried .

In hospitals it is common for beds to be completely disinfected when changing patients. The bed linen and mostly the bed frames are washed and disinfected. With a few exceptions, however, the mattresses are only disinfected, which means that they are not washed. The dirt in the mattresses such as urine, blood, spilled drinks and other substances are not removed, but only made germ-free by heating. The next patient then lies on disinfected dirt, usually only separated by a sheet.

This is handled because there are no washing machines with which you can wash mattresses at an economically reasonable cost. The numerous washing machines developed for laundry can also wash mattresses, but the volume of the mattresses is far too large in relation to laundry, so that rarely more than one or two mattresses fit in a washing machine. This results in a very low machine performance at very high costs. Therefore, usually only become special heavily soiled mattresses washed, often by hand and with a water hose.

The object of the invention is to develop a washing system which is capable of washing, disinfecting and drying the ketraids occurring in the hospital at a reasonable cost.

According to the invention, such an anlame consists of a plurality of flat troughs arranged one above the other or one behind the other, which serve to hold the ash liquid, the disinfectant liquid and the rinsing liquid. The mattresses are continuously passed through several trays, whereby the feed rate depends on the necessary ash time and the required exposure time of the pesinfection bath. The performance of the aniage is therefore determined for a given exposure time according to the number of troughs arranged one behind the other or one above the other, with more troughs permitting a higher feed speed and therefore enabling a higher hourly output.

To ensure that the mattresses run properly, the tubs must be equipped with a transoor device. This consists either of roller conveyors which lie in the tub and therefore in the washing liquid, the side cheeks of the tub being so high that the roller conveyor and the mattress lying thereon are covered by the washing liquid. The feed is provided by driven feed rollers, which rest on the mattress from above and are lightly pressed on. Alternatively, the transport and feed can also be carried out by driven belts. Upon exit of the mattress from a Wnne it is carried by guide rollers or Umlenkgurte the next tray which fed behind or above or below the first W p nne may be disposed. An execution appears expedient in which the tubs are one above the other and the mattresses are conveyed from bottom to top, since with this arrangement the wash and rinse baths can be used in countercurrent without the use of pumps. Part of the rinse water from the top tub is used for the underlying wash or disinfection bath, another part of the rinse water and wash water is used for the prewash in the bottom of three tubs. This process ensures low water consumption and dsmof consumption.

During the passage through the individual baths, the mattresses have to be moved in order to exchange the washing liquid sucked up by the mattresses with the free liquid in the tub.

The necessary jash mechanics are created by piling up and releasing the mattresses in quick succession. This is done by tapping, which compress the mattress from above and then release it again. The frequency of the roller movement depends on the desired strength of the washing mechanism. These upsetting rollers - they compress the mattress - therefore perform a vertical movement from top to bottom and from bottom to top. In the case of larger systems with a higher throughput speed and, as a result, greater mechanical action, more rollers are arranged on a rotating roller cage which, by its rotation, presses the individual rollers one after the other onto the mattress and lifts them off again.

To remove coarse dirt, one or more washing brushes are used, as is known from car washes. However, these are only switched on when heavily soiled. With normal soiling, the brushes remain switched off to avoid mechanical damage to the mattress.

To introduce the fresh water, pipes are used which are arranged across the tub and are located close to the mattress and have water outlet openings on the underside towards the mattress. By pressure, with which the rinse water exits from these jet pipes, penetrates deep into the mattress and thus creates a good rinsing effect.

The same tubes can also be used in the pre-wash area and in the wash area, which creates an additional washing effect.

After the mattress has passed through the various nibbling baths and the rinsing bath, it is inserted between two dewatering rollers, in which the upper roller is pressed onto the lower roller by spring pressure or pneumatic pressure. This will remove most of the water. The residual moisture remaining in the mattress is removed by an air flow which is passed in counterflow to the mattress after it has left the dewatering rollers. The mattress is then ejected from the system and can be used again.
