Description

The invention relates to a continuously operating washing system for mattresses according to the preamble of claim 1, in particular for foam mattresses.

In hospitals it is common for beds to be completely disinfected when changing patients. The bed linen and mostly the bed frames are washed and disinfected. However, with a few exceptions, the mattresses are only disinfected, which means that they are not washed. The dirt in the mattresses such as urine, blood, spilled drinks and other substances are not removed, but only made germ-free by heating. The next patient then lies on disinfected dirt, usually only separated by a sheet.

This is done because there are no washing machines with which you can wash mattresses at an economically reasonable cost.

The numerous washing machines developed for laundry can also wash mattresses, but the volume of the mattresses is far too large in relation to the laundry, so that rarely more than one or two mattresses fit into a washing machine. This results in very low machine performance at very high costs. For this reason, only particularly heavily soiled mattresses are washed, often by hand and with a water hose.

Aus den genannten Gründen dürfte sich diese Anlage auch nicht in der Praxis eingeführt haben.DE-A-1 920 307 describes a washing and drying system for mattresses in which the laundry is continuously conveyed through various treatment baths and subjected to a washing mechanism, but in many respects this system is suitable for use in hospitals or the like. not suitable. A major disadvantage is that the treatment zones located one behind the other require a very large installation area, which is generally not available in the laundry. In addition, the transport device and the actual mechanical washing device are very complex. A sufficient mechanical washing effect by means of ultrasound generation is not given. For the reasons mentioned, this system should not have been put into practice.

The invention has for its object to provide a continuous washing system for mattresses, which is simple in construction and takes up little space, so that the mattresses can be cleaned properly with reasonable costs.

According to the invention, such a system consists of a plurality of trays arranged one above the other, which serve to hold the washing liquid, the disinfecting liquid and the rinsing liquid. The mattresses are continuously passed through several trays, the feed rate depending on the necessary washing time and the required exposure time of the disinfection bath. The performance of the system is therefore determined for a given exposure time according to the number of trays arranged one above the other, with more trays allowing a higher feed rate and therefore enabling a higher hourly output.

To ensure that the mattresses run smoothly, the trays must be equipped with a transport device.

The feed is preferably provided by driven feed rollers, which rest on the mattress from above and are lightly pressed on.

Alternatively, the transport and feed can also be carried out by driven belts.

In the drawing, the invention is illustrated using an exemplary embodiment.

Dieses Verfahren sichert niedrigen Wasserverbrauch und Dampfverbrauch.7, three flat tubs 1 are arranged one above the other, through which the flat mattresses are guided by means of a transport device. This consists of a series of feed rollers 3, which rest on the mattress from above and are pressed lightly. To reduce the sliding resistance, the mattresses lie on roller conveyors 2. The side cheeks of the tubs 1 are so high that the mattresses lying on the roller conveyors are covered by the washing liquid. When the mattress emerges from a tub, it is fed to the next tub by deflecting rollers 9. If the treatment baths are arranged one above the other, the mattresses are conveyed from bottom to top and the washing and rinsing baths can be used in countercurrent with pumps. Part of the rinse water from the top tub is used for the wash or disinfection bath underneath, another part of the rinse water and wash water is used for the prewash in the bottom of three tubs. This process ensures low water consumption and steam consumption.

During the passage through the individual baths, the mattresses have to be moved in order to exchange the washing liquid sucked out of the mattresses with the free liquid in the tub to reach.

The necessary washing mechanism is created by pressing the mattresses together in quick succession and releasing them again. This is done by upsetting rollers 5, which compress the mattress from above and then release it again. FIG. 3. The frequency of the roller movement depends on the desired strength of the washing mechanism. These compression rollers - they compress the mattresses - therefore perform a vertical movement from top to bottom and from bottom to top. In larger systems with a higher throughput speed and therefore a greater mechanical action, a plurality of rollers 6 are arranged on a rotating roller cage which, by its rotation, presses the individual rollers one after the other onto the mattress and lifts them again (FIG. 4).

To remove coarse dirt, one or more washing brushes 7 are used, as is known from car washes (FIG. 5). However, these are only switched on when heavily soiled. With normal soiling, the brushes remain switched off to avoid mechanical damage to the mattress.

For introducing the fresh water, jet tubes 8 are used which are arranged transversely across the tub and lie close to the mattress and have water outlet openings on the underside towards the mattress (FIG. 8). Due to the pressure with which the rinsing water emerges from these jet pipes, it penetrates deep into the mattress and thus creates a good rinsing effect.

The same jet pipes can also be used in the pre-wash area and in the wash area, which creates an additional washing effect.

After the mattress has passed through the various washing baths and the rinsing bath, it is passed between two dewatering rollers 10, in which the upper roller is pressed onto the lower roller by spring pressure or pneumatic pressure. This will remove most of the water. The residual moisture remaining in the mattress is removed in the drying device 11 by a warm air flow, which is passed in counterflow to the mattress after it has left the dewatering rollers. Then the mattress is ejected from the system and can be used again.

In Fig. 2 it is indicated that the transport movement caused by the feed rollers 3 can be supported by a circumferential conveyor belt 4 if necessary.

The mattresses inserted into the lower tub continuously pass through the individual treatment baths, are moved forward by the feed rollers 3, are subjected to a mechanical washing action by the upsetting rollers 5 and 6, are dewatered by the dewatering rollers 10 and then dried, so that they are removed at the other upper end can be.
