Description
The invention relates to a device for electropolishing the inner surface of hollow cylindrical bodies with at least one sponge electrode guided along the inner surface thereof and with devices for guiding and supplying the sponge electrode with electrolyte.
From DE-OS 31 36 187 it is known to decontaminate pipes from nuclear plants by throwing electrolyte liquid through nozzles against the inner wall of these pipes with the aid of a high-pressure pump. The electrolyte liquid is supplied via a hose running in the axis of the tube. A helical wire around the hose serves as the electrode. It is a peculiarity of this process that considerable amounts of electrolyte liquid are required.
It has also already been proposed to decontaminate metallic components from a nuclear plant by electropolishing and to move a sponge-like electrode soaked in electrolyte liquid back and forth on the surface of the part to be decontaminated. With this device, which should be very economical with the electrolyte, the problem remains unresolved, however, of how the worker wiping the sponge electrode along the workpiece surface can be protected from excessive radiation exposure.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of showing a way in which hollow cylindrical bodies, such as pipes, elbows and containers, can be decontaminated without using too much electrolyte and without exposing the operating personnel to excessive radiation exposure. Long pipe sections, elbows and larger containers should be decontaminated or electropolished.
In a device of the type mentioned at the outset, the sponge electrode is therefore supported according to the invention on a chassis which is supported on the inner surface of the hollow cylindrical body and which can be displaced along its axis of curvature, can be pressed against the inner surface and rotated about its axis of curvature. This ensures that a uniform pressure of the sponge electrode on the inner surface to be cleaned is ensured even with very long pipe sections and the operator can stay at a greater distance from the contaminated inner surface of the hollow cylindrical body. At the same time, the consumption of electrolyte liquid due to the use of a sponge electrode is also kept within limits when decontaminating long pipe sections and larger containers. This is of great importance in connection with the disposal of the electrolyte liquid.
In a further development of the invention, the sponge electrode can preferably be rotatable relative to the chassis about the axis of curvature of the hollow cylindrical body and about the axis of symmetry of the chassis parallel thereto. As a result, the entire circumference of the hollow cylindrical body can be cleaned in all its positions in the direction of gravity. Also do not need torques for this to be transmitted over long distances.
The electropolishing performance can be increased considerably if several sponge electrodes are held on the chassis in a plane aligned perpendicular to the axis of symmetry of the chassis, offset by the same pitch angle. As a result, the simultaneously electropolished surface can be multiplied without having to use sponge electrodes that are too large. Because the latter would restrict the use of the device to hollow cylindrical bodies of certain closely adjacent radii of curvature. At the same time, this measure creates the precondition for rotating the sponge electrodes about the axis of symmetry of the chassis only a little more than their pitch angle according to a further particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention. This in turn simplifies the construction of the actuator required for this. It makes it possible to use simple, corrosion-resistant hydraulic or pneumatic actuators for the limited rotation of the sponge electrodes by a limited angle around the axis of symmetry of the chassis. A swivel angle of 90 ° for four sponge electrodes and a swivel angle of 45 ° for eight sponge electrodes would be sufficient. The latter could be generated with a hydraulic piston acting on a lever alone.

As shown in FIG. 1, the rerailing device 4 consists essentially of a tube 47 with the same inside diameter as the
Fig. 4 shows a plan view of one of the
If a hollow
The chassis 3 with the
Das abgesaugteWhen the electrolyte inlet is switched on, the electrolyte liquid wets the
