A method for applying terminals to electrical cables, a plurality of cables being drawn off, preferably simultaneously, from different cable storage means, the cables then being cut into lengths, and at least one cable end being bared and provided with a terminal, characterized in that a plurality of cable strands (4, 5) of at least two sorts of cable are drawn off in each case from a cable storage means (1). the cable strands (4, 5) of each sort of cable are fed into a separate conveying plane (2, 6, 7) or a separate conveying path in one plane (2, 6, 7) and there cable strands of the same sort or of different sorts are selected end are fed into a draw-off plane in which they are caught and passed on for cutting to length.
2. A method according to Claim 1, characterized in that the cable strands of different sorts are fed into conveying planes (2, 6, 7) disposed one above the other.
3. A method according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that a plurality of selected cable strands are drawn off simultaneously and are passed on for cutting to length.
4. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the cable strands are cut to length with different lengths.
5. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the pieces of cable cut to length are passed on en bloc and are bared and crimped.
6. A method according to Claim 5. characterized in that pieces of cable of different sorts are conveyed to different baring and crimping apparatus.
7. A method according to Claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the pieces of cable are conveyed at right angles to the conveying direction for cutting to length.

An apparatus for performing the method according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized by a cable storage means (1), which stores different sorts of cable and a cable changer (9), which is arranged downstream of the line storage means (1) in the conveying direction of the cable strands, the cable changer (9) being provided with guide elements which deflect the cable strands in a preprogrammable manner into a draw-off plans at predetermined positions of the exit (10) of the cable changer (9).
9. An apparatus according to Claim 8, characterized in that a cable draw-in apparatus (12). which comprises devices by which cable strands can be cut to length, is arranged downstream of the cable, changer (9) in the conveying direction of the cable strands.
10. An apparatus according to Claim 9, characterized in that the cable draw-in apparatus (12) comprises devices by which the cable strands can be passed on to a conveying apparatus (13).
11. An apparatus according to any one of Claims 8 to 10, characterized in that the cable storage means (1) and/or the cable changer (9) comprise conveying apparatus by which cable strands of different sorts are guided in planes lying one another the other.

An apparatus according to any one of Claims 8 to 11, characterized in that the cable storage means (1), the cable changer (9) and the cable draw-in apparatus (12) are arranged one behind the other in the conveying direction of the cable strands, and in the region of the cable draw-in apparatus (12) the conveying apparatus (13) is arranged at a right angle thereto.
13. An apparatus according to Claim 12, characterized in that the conveying apparatus (13) comprises means by which the ends of the cables cut to equal or different lengths are positioned in the same horizontal plane, the ends being orientated in opposite directions.
14. An apparatus according to Claim 12 or 13, characterized in that apparatus, which process the ends of the cables, are provided on one or both sides adjacent the conveying apparatus (13).
15. An apparatus according to Claim 14, characterized in that different baring apparatus (14,15,16) and different crimping apparatus (17, 18.19) downstream of the latter, corresponding to the number of the different sorts of cables, are disposed on both sides adjacent the conveying apparatus (13).
16. An apparatus according to Claim 15, characterized in that different testing apparatus (20, 21, 22) are arranged on both sides downstream of the crimping apparatus.
17. An apparatus according to any one of Claims 14 to 16, characterized in that a printing apparatus (23) is arranged preferably on both sides upstream of the baring apparatus.
18. An apparatus according to any of Claims 8 to 17, characterized in that it comprises a control device (24).
