Description

The present invention relates to an improvement in connection boxes for rainwater pipes and more particularly in boxes used in the building, for the construction of individual pavilions made of concrete blocks; it also concerns concrete blocks.

The junction boxes are most often prefabricated in molded concrete; they have, on their lateral faces, reservations which allow the passage of the water evacuation pipes and they are covered with a grid or a cover crossed by the downpipe. The installation of these boxes generally takes place only during the finishing works of the construction; it forces the masonry business to move. The positioning of the boxes relative to the pavilion often presents difficulties due in particular to the lack of stability of the ground around the pavilion. The mason most often has to build foundations, against the pavilion, which greatly increases his intervention time. With or without a foundation, it is common to see the boxes move relative to the building and therefore cause pipe breaks.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks; it offers a connection box that is easier to install and that does not require soil preparation. The box according to the invention also has the advantage of being automatically positioned relative to the building, in a very precise manner without this position being able to vary over time. Another advantage provided by the invention lies in the possibility of adjusting the position of the box in order to adapt it in height relative to the ground level.

The box according to the invention also has the advantage of avoiding infiltration of water into the wall by promoting the flow of said water around the box.

The connection box, according to the invention, comprises means of connection with the wall and more particularly with at least one block of the wall and a space provided between the block and the connection box. The connecting means are permanent and are in the form of two connecting ribs obtained during the simultaneous molding of a concrete block with the connection box.

According to another embodiment, the connecting means are partial and are in the form of a vertical slide with T-guide, obtained by molding, on the concrete block, of two elements with L-shaped section and, on the box, of two lateral branches.

The connection box is provided with reservations arranged in the lateral faces to allow the departure of pipes perpendicular or parallel to the building; it is covered with a cover which extends against the wall, under the plaster so as to cover the space left between the concrete block and the box.

According to another arrangement of the invention, the connection box is in the form of a square, linked to a corner block comprising a cavity for the passage of the downpipe and into which the angle post is poured. The corner box is linked to the concrete block in one piece by simultaneous casting; a space can be kept between the box and the concrete block. It includes reservations allowing the passage of the downpipe and the evacuation pipes in directions perpendicular or parallel to the walls of the building.

The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description and of the drawings given as an indication and in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a top view of a connection box, according to the invention,
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the box, according to FIG. 1,

  • FIG. 5 is a section of the concrete block-box assembly with a cover disposed on the box,
  • - Figure 6 is a perspective view of a manhole located at the corner of a building.

In traditional building constructions, the walls are raised from molded blocks called breeze blocks. These breeze blocks are parallelepipedic and generally include alveoli.

The concrete block 1 and the box 3 are one-piece, obtained by simultaneous molding; the box 3 is centered on the side 4 of the concrete block. Reservations 5 are provided in the sides of the box 3 for the passage of the discharge pipes, not shown; these reservations 5 allowing the choice, a departure of rainwater in directions perpendicular or parallel to the building. To avoid stagnation of water against the wall and infiltration, the box 3 is separated from the concrete block 1 by a space 6 which extends over a width substantially equal to that of the interior space of the box 3 and which allows a flow of water between the wall 7 of the concrete block 1 and the wall 8 of the box 3. The connection between the box 3 and the concrete block 1 is a permanent connection provided by the ribs 9 and 10 which extend vertically from one side and other of the space 6, in the extension of the lateral sides of the box 3.

We see in Figure 2 that the box 3 and the concrete block 1 are not the same height; this varies according to the size of the box 3 which can be higher than the concrete block 1, or of the same height or even a lower height as shown in Figure 2. The bottom 11 of the box 3 and and bottom 12 of the concrete blocks 1 are however at the same level. The molding of the box-concrete block assembly is carried out by pouring the concrete into a mold, then mold is turned over to place the assembly constituted by the concrete block 1 and the box 3, on their respective bottoms 12 and 11. The concrete block 1 is therefore, at the time of installation, in the inverted position, that is to say with the cells 2 facing upwards, while the concrete blocks are, in general, placed with the cells down.

According to an alternative embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 4, the concrete block 1 and the box 3 form two elements produced separately. Concrete block 1 comprises elements 13 and 14 with an L-shaped section arranged vertically at the ends of sidewall 15 of said concrete block; these elements 13 and 14 constitute the fixed part of a T-guide slide, the mobile part being constituted by the lateral branches 16 and 17 disposed on the box 3. The elements of this slide by T-guide are obtained directly by molding of the concrete block 1 on the one hand and of the box 3 on the other hand. The box 3 has connections 5 for connection and, between the two branches 16 and 17, it has a space 18 identical to the space 6 of the concrete block 1 shown in FIG. 1. This slide allows precise positioning of the connection box with respect to to construction with a possibility of vertical adjustment. In this variant, the concrete block and the box are molded separately, which makes it possible to have a concrete block for a conventional installation, not inverted; the cells 2 will be open at the bottom.

Figure 5 shows in section, the wall with the concrete block 1 and the box 3 on which is disposed a cover 19 shutter. This cover 19 opens the space between the box 3 and the concrete block 1; it comprises a head 20 forming an extra thickness which is positioned under the coating 21 of the wall and allows a deflection of the runoff water.

In the case of a partial connection between the box 3 and the concrete block 1, according to the variant presented in Figures 3 and 4, the bottom of the box 3 rests on the ground at the chosen level. It may also, if the ground is not sufficiently stable, rest on an additional support, not shown, fixed to the wall. In some embodiments, the connection box will be located at the corner of the construction to receive mainly rainwater from a downpipe, not shown, included in the corner post that is poured into the cavity 22 of the corner block 23, shown in Figure 6.

The connection box 24 forms a square against the two external faces of the corner block so as to cover, as a minimum, the width of the cavity 22 of the block 23. A reservation 25 allows the passage of the down pipe between the cavity 22 and the interior of the box 24. The external faces of the box have cylindrical reservations 5 along a horizontal axis to allow connection of the pipes either perpendicular to the building, or in parallel. The concrete block 23 and box 24 assembly is in one piece, obtained by molding under the same conditions as the assembly shown in FIG. 1.

The invention is in no way limited to the embodiments specially indicated, but it also covers all the possible variants provided that these are not in contradiction with the subject of each of the claims annexed to this description.

Thus, in the case of partial connection, the slide can have a shape other than rectangular, it can be dovetailed.

Similarly, still in this case of partial connection according to Figures 3 and 4, the box can be made of a material other than concrete, for example plastic.
