Definitions
- This invention relates to printing material sets for preparing bar-code labels by pressure-sensitive printing.
- bar-code labels have become utilized in large quantities in which plural bar-codes are printed on the bar-code labels.
- the plural bar-codes indicated numeral letters which show information such as a name, a price and a weight of a commodity or an article.
- the bar-code labels are utilized in the statistical analysis of information concerning the distribution of the commodities or the articles.
- thermosensitive printing method there are many occasions of pollution of the finished image of the bar-codes by after-color development due to heating because both the color-developer and the color-former exist on the surface of the label after thermal printing.
- the transfer-printed pigment and wax adhere on the finished label. Therefore, the distinctness of the image of the bar-codes is apt to be reduced by heat and friction.
- Every one of the defects mentioned above is a cause of reduction of the precision with which bar-codes are read by a light pen.
- the reduction is particularly noticeable in the case where the bar-codes are printed on a sheet of paper for the label on occasion and then the bar-code label is -adhered onto commodities or articles on occasion.
- DE-A-2407822 discloses a self-adhesive record carrier, such as an adhesive label, composed of a base-paper, an adhesive layer on the back, a non-stick silicone layer or the like and a disposable backing sheet.
- Pressure-sensitive microcapsules contain a colour former are provided together with a colour-generating reagent layer.
- the base paper or the backing sheet of the adhesive label contains at least one of the two layers.
- the record carrier is described as for use in a factory. For example, an original carrier in front ⁇ can be used as an order confirmation, the adhesive label can be used as an information carrier for goods during the production sequence, storage and transport, and further duplicate carriers can be used for controlling production, storage and transport, as a consignment note or the like. There is no mention of bar-code labels.

- the bar-code label papers 3 are detachably adhered to the stripping tape 5 with the adhesive agent 4 at predetermined intervals.
- the microcapsules of layer 2 are crushed by applying a pressure in printing operation and the solution of the colored dyestuff containing therein is flowed onto one of the bar-code label papers 3 to print bar-code on the bar-code label paper.
- the flowed solution of the colored dyestuff is immediately absorbed into the bar-code label paper and then fastened thereat.
- the colored dyestuff remains in a stable state after the evaporation of the solvent of the solution.
- the printed bar-code label paper that is the bar-code label, is detached from the stripping tape 5 and then, is applied to a commodity or an article.
- the printing tape 1 should not be destroyed by the pressure of percussion of the printer and should have a uniform thickness.
- the present invention utilises a plastic film of a thickness of 30 ⁇ m or less than 30 ⁇ m, preferably from 6 to 20 ⁇ m may be mentioned.
- polyethylene film and polypropylene film may be mentioned.
- the microcapsules held on the inside surface of the printing tape 1 the microcapsules for preparing the pressure-sensitive recording paper may be used. Accordingly, the microcapsules according to this invention may be prepared by the conventional process for the preparation of microcapsules.
- the dyestuff contained in the microcapsules a dyestuff having a large solubility in organic solvents is used. More specifically, the dyestuff is selected from monoazo compounds such as Oil Brown #125 ® (manufactured by YAMAMOTO KAGAKU GOUSEI K.K.) and Oil Brown BG extra@ (manufactured by SHIRADO KAGAKU KENKYUSHO); bisazo compounds such as Orient Oil Black HBB @ (manufactured by ORIENT KAGAKU KOGYO K.K.), Oil Scarlet SN ® (manufactured by SHIRADO KAGAKU KENKYUSHO), and Oleosol Red BB@ (manufactured by SUMITOMO KAGAKU KOGYO K.K.); metal complex salts of monoazo compounds such as Aizen Metalon Red HGRS ® (manufactured by HODOGAYA KAGAKU KOGYO K.K.) and A
