Abstract

1. A collar for the protection of the clothing and body of a baby from becoming dirty, particularly wet by saliva, the collar being made of absorbent material, being closable at the neck portion by connection means, such as connection ties, situated at the ends, and being formed by a strip (1) which is widened and/or thickened at the middle portion (2) which engages the chin.

Description

The invention relates to a collar band for protecting the clothing and the body of a baby from pollution and saliva wetting.

Child bibs made of fabric or plastic, which are tied around the child's neck when eating food, are known in particular for protection against contamination with food residues. In particular, they cover the breast area of the raby, which experience has shown that it is contaminated during child nutrition. Food residues in solid, porridge-like or liquid form stick to the child's bib or, in the case of plastic bibs, also move into a pocket attached to the lower hem, following gravity. After eating, this bib is removed and cleaned.

Already as a baby, but especially as a teething toddler, the child runs saliva out of the mouth almost continuously and drips over the chin on his clothing or body. Especially with teething children this salivation is so strong that the laundry - shirt, blouse, sweater etc. - is completely soaked under the chin. If there is no possibility of changing these soaked items of laundry at short notice, this means that the child is at risk of catching a cold, since this soaked and thus partially cooled zone lies just above the bronchi.

Len is t the risk of a possible Erkältun g baby out of consideration, so it must be stated that the babies in these constantly moist parts of the body are sore. As experience has shown, these sores only heal when the constant wetting has stopped, that is, generally only when the first teeth have broken through. However, since this may take a period of 1 to 1 1/2 years to complete, the ongoing wound pain ebensolan g e is an awkward time for both the child and for the mother or the Pfleaeperson.

If the described unpleasant side effects of constant wetting, such as colds or sores, do not occur, the mother or the caregiver must always change the child's laundry in a relatively short time for hygienic reasons. Finally, it should also be noted that the child carried by the mother naturally wets or contaminates the mother's clothing.

Tying a child's bib is no relief, since this bib is placed far too low to catch the saliva flowing out of the mouth. Rather, the saliva will run down the chin and neck or drip directly onto the baby's laundry, even if such a bib is tied. Such a bib can only be used to wipe the saliva from the child's chin at short intervals if it is made of absorbent material.

The object of the invention is to provide a way of how this constant flow of saliva can be absorbed in such a way that it neither leads to soreness nor to drenching the laundry and thus no longer leads to colds. This is achieved according to the invention by a collar, formed from a widened and / or thickened in the middle part, provided at the end with connecting means, such as connecting loops, rubber strips, push buttons made of plastic or metal, Velcro fastener or adhesive strips, preferably made of absorbent material.

Such a collar band lies with its widened or thickened middle part, it is attached like a collar to the neck of the child, under the chin area and thus prevents the saliva from flowing further down the chin and along the neck onto the child's body. This applies both to a lying, as well as a sitting or standing child and of course also for a child who is carried in the arm. In addition, if the collar band according to the invention consists of absorbent material, for example of cellulose, it soaks up the saliva for a very long time, i.e. remains relatively dry on the surface. This surely prevents the sensitive skin of the baby from getting sore, as well as soaking the baby's clothing and the associated risk of catching a cold.

In contrast to the children's bib, the collar band does not cover large parts of the upper body after the innovation, but only the front neck or lower chin area. It is therefore preferably only between 20 and 60 millimeters long and, depending on the material, between 2 and 50 millimeters thick. Thick cellulose collar tapes, which can also be designed as single-use items, have proven particularly advantageous. If the collar band according to the invention is to remain usable over a longer period of time, it is expediently produced from absorbent terry cloth.

In order to avoid the moisture penetrating through the collar band according to the invention, it is advisable to coat the underside of the collar band with water-impermeable material, that is to say to attach a plastic film or a thin plastic foam layer at this point.

The connecting means can be chosen almost any way, from simple connecting loops over rubber strips, push buttons made of plastic or metal to Velcro or adhesive strips.

A collar band 1 made of cellulose, for example, is widened in its middle part 2 and at the same time thickened so that it lies between the neck and the lower chin area when the baby's head is lifted upright (FIG. 3). To fasten the collar band 1 to the child's neck, connecting means 3, 13, 23, 33, 43 are provided at the end, on the one hand as a simple loop 3 (FIG. 5), as a snap fastener 13 (FIGS. 2 and 6), as a Velcro fastener 23 (Fig. 1), as a hook fastener 33 (Fig. 7) or as an eyelet fastener 43 (Fig. 8). A child's bib 4 can also be tied around the child's neck below the collar band 1, especially when the baby is eating. The different attachment of these items of clothing is clearly shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

Of course, the collar band can be shaped differently after the innovation and can also be made of different materials. In any case, if it is correctly placed underneath the child's chin, it will absorb the constant flow of saliva, thus avoiding the soaking of the laundry with the unpleasant foils and the wounding of the sensitive skin.
