Abstract

The particular advantageous arrangement of the bowl (1) is that the supply of rinsing liquid (2a) is located substantially above the overflow level formed by the rim (3) of the bowl (1). This supply and distribution of liquid are effected by means of the perforated boom (5) for this purpose. Another special feature of the invention is that a spray device (8), controlled by a lever (9), is connected to the rinsing-liquid supply conduit by means of a hose (10) connected at (11). Aeration holes are provided to ensure that the pipe (2) and the spray device (8) are permanently in contact with the outside air. The evacuation means may comprise a motor-pump unit, optionally hand-actuated with the aid of a pull mechanism (13) in the event of the electric current to the motor being cut off. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to improvements made to the basins of toilets comprising a rinsing device and vacuum-propellant means such as a pump actuated for example by an electric motor and intended to ensure the grinding and evacuation of the contents of the bowl.

These improvements have the main effect of prohibiting any pollution of the inlet pipe of the rinsing liquid, with in addition the possibility of providing a flexible pipe element connected to said pipe to allow the use of the appliance in a bidet.

It also relates to improvements relating to the control of the motor in the event of a power failure or in the event of blockage of the discharge members.

The advantageous provisions of the invention which will be highlighted below are favorably applicable to cuvettes of the kind described in French Patent No 74,06063 of February 22, 1974 in the name of the applicant.

The characteristics and advantages of the invention will be better understood by referring to the following description and to the accompanying drawing which gives by way of nonlimiting example a possible embodiment of the invention and in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents in schematic section a bowl according to the invention,
  • and Figure 2 an overview of the bowl shown in Figure 1.

In Figure 1 where the bowl 1 is shown in section, the inlet pipe of the rinsing liquid bears the reference 2. We note the particular arrangement above level 3 that constitutes the upper edge of the bowl 1, this which has the effect of preventing any pollution of the arrival of the flushing liquid when the device, being blocked for any reason, overflows.

The arrival of the rinsing liquid in the bowl is controlled by the solenoid valve 4 in the known manner and the flow of the liquid is effected by the perforated ramp 5. In addition, the conduit 2 supplying the latter is connected with the open air through at least one orifice which is formed therein, thus preventing any suction effect in the part between the arrival of the liquid and the solenoid valve 4 in the event of depression in the general supply duct as a result of an unexpected water cut.
In this example, two openings 6 and 7 (only visible in FIG. 2) are made on either side of the inlet pipe for the rinsing liquid 2.

The motor-pump-conduit assembly ensuring the evacuation of the contents of the bowl is shown diagrammatically in dotted lines in FIG. 1. The same is true of the conduit 18 connecting the outlet of the pump to the wastewater pipe. .

The attached illustrated example represents two other advantageous features of the invention.

First of all, a hand shower 8 provided with a control lever 9 provided to allow the use of the appliance in a bidet is connected at 11 by a T-element to the pipe for supplying the rinsing liquid 2 and permanently connected to the latter by a flexible hose 10 disposed downstream of the solenoid valve 4. Under these conditions, the hose 10 for supplying the spray head is also permanently brought to the open air due to the presence of openings 2a, 6 and 7 permanently open.
This arrangement makes it possible to remove pollution from the supply duct 10 up to the shower head 8 by prohibiting any suction effect of polluted water in the event that the shower head accidentally falls into the bowl or is inadvertently forgotten in the stagnant water from said bowl.

Lorsqu'elle n'est pas utilisée, la douchette 8 repose sur un support 17 prévu sur la cuvette 1.The result of this arrangement is a simultaneous flow of water at 2a and 8 when the user operates the control lever 9 of the shower head 8 after actuating the solenoid valve 4 determining the arrival of the liquid. This flow is not harmful because it acts on the contrary as a pressure reducer, reducing the rinse jet which is too powerful when it is used directly without adjusting the flow rate. When not in use, the hand shower 8 rests on a support 17 provided on the bowl 1.

On the other hand, a means is provided to counter a possible interruption of current ensuring the operation of the motor which controls the vacuum-propellant means ensuring the evacuation of the contents of the bowl (shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1). To this end, a freewheel device 12 made integral with the drive shaft is connected to a pull tab 13 by means of a cable 14 passing over idler pulleys 15 and 16. In the event of a power interruption, it it suffices to determine the rotation of the motor by acting repeatedly on the pull tab 13 to obtain the required evacuation.

In this order of idea, on the axis of rotation of the motor pump assembly or of the pump alone, could advantageously be mounted a flywheel (not shown as known per se) allowing, during pulling on the pull tab 13, a prolonged and regular rotation of the pump thanks to the inertia of rotation created by said flywheel.

Finally, a fourth improvement consists in the fact that in the actuation circuit of the motor controlling the suction-propellant means for evacuating the bowl, there is an inverter allowing the rotation of said motor in the opposite direction to the normal direction in order to be able to unlock the evacuation devices when necessary.

Such an inverter known per se in general form has not been shown in the drawing.

Il peut être automatique ou commandé manuellement. It can be automatic or manually controlled.

It is understood that the example shown in the drawing and described above is in no way limiting and that any modifications in the number and the shape of the constituent elements may be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
