Abstract

The pedestal column 1 of a toilet bowl 2 includes a storage tank 3 containing a predetermined quantity of water intended for the rinsing and delivered to the means of distribution 10 to the bowl for the required rinsing, the said distribution being ensured by the action of a pump 9 drawing water from the said storage tank 3, while a means 4, indicating the water level is provided for actuating a solenoid valve 6 until the storage tank is filled to its level. By virtue of this arrangement, the drop in the level 11 in the storage tank 3 determines the action of the solenoid valve 6 by acting on a pressure regulator 5, while the rise in the level 11 causes the water supply to cease by acting on the pressure regulator, the said action stopping the operation of the solenoid valve. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Device for rinsing a toilet bowl by means of water delivered without pressure The present invention relates to a device intended to ensure the supply of water to a toilet bowl in order to ensure its rinsing, by means of water which arrives without pressure, a device which is also intended to prohibit any back-siphoning of water which has performed the rinsing and thus to conform with mandatory requirements existing in certain countries.
The description which follows will make it possible to conclude that this device fully satisfies these three conditions.
Reference will be made to- the drawing which is appended by way of guidance and which shows an embodiment in diagrammatic cross-section, in association, in this example, with a toilet bowl provided with rinsing means such as described in French Patent No.
82/14,160 filed on 16 August 1982 and published under No. 2,531,735.
In this figure, the pedestal 1 of the bowl 2 includes a storage tank 3 in which is immersed a tube 4 joined to a pressure regulator 5 connected electrically to a solenoid valve 6 by the connection 7.
The broken lines in this examle show a motor-pump assembly 8 responsible for grinding the matter and for the emptying which is required. A pump 9 is provided for drawing water held in the storage tank 3 in order to provide at 10 the distribution of water for rinsing the bowl.
It is thus understood that the starting up of the pump 9 controlled by the user by means of a time switch causes the water level in the storage tank 3 to drop. Under these conditions, the drop in the level determines the pressure decrease inside the tube 4. Since this pressure decrease is complete when the water level reaches a point below the lower end of the tube 4, this results, by means of the pressure controller 5, in the opening of the solenoid valve 6, which results in liquid being supplied to the storage tank 3. When the level reaches its maximum again, the complete compression in the tube 4 causes, by means of the pressure regulator 5, the operation of the solenoid valve 6 to stop.
The pressure regulator 5 is adjusted so as to stop the operation of the solenoid valve 6 before the level reaches the level of overflowing 11 over the top part of the storage tank, which is situated at least 3 cm below the end 12 of the water supply tube, in accordance with the mandatory requirements prohibiting any back-siphoning action.
It is understood that in the example shown the rising device according to the invention is shown combined with a toilet bowl in accordance with that described in the abovementioned Patent No. 82/14,150 of 16 August 1982, but that it can be applied to any toilet bowl comprising a motor-pump (or grinder) assembly for emptying the bowl, which is controlled by the user operating a push button determining, together with the empyting of the bowl, a rinsing of the latter, which is delayed or not delayed.
It will of course be understood that the present invention has been described above purely by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings.
1. Device for control of rinsing water distributed without pressure into a toilet bowl, characterized in that the pedestal column (1) of the bowl (2) includes a storage tank (3) containing a predetermined quantity of water intended for the rinsing and delivered to the means of distribution (10) to the bowl for the required rinsing, the said distribution being ensured by the action of a pump (9) drawing from the said storage tank, while a means (4) indicating the water level is provided to actuate a solenoid valve until the said storage tank is filled to level (11).
2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the means indicating the level in the storage tank consists of a tube immersed in the latter and joined to a pressure regulator by which the solenoid valve is servo controlled, so that the drop in the level in said storage tank determines the action of the solenoid valve by acting on the said pressure regulator, while the rise in the said level causes the water supply to cease by its action on the pressure regulator, the said action stopping the operation of the solenoid valve.
3. A control device substantially as described herein with reference to Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawing.
