Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for removing heavy metal ions and arsenic from wet process phosphoric acid by treating at temperatures between 10 and 100 0 C, the crude wet process phosphoric acid first with a diorganyldithiophosphoric and then with an adsorbent, and thereafter the purified phosphoric acid from the ester and the adsorbent is separated off .
- Crude phosphoric acids obtained by digestion of phosphate ores with mineral acids generally contain ions of arsenic as impurities in addition to ions of heavy metals such as cadmium, copper, lead and mercury.
- the commonly used process for separating arsenic from phosphoric acid is its precipitation with excess hydrogen sulfide as arsenic sulfide (DE-AS 24 47 390).
- the crude acid treated with a large excess of alkali sulfide solution in a suitable reactor, for example a gassing column, and then the excess H 2 S is removed by stripping with inert gas.
- the filtration of the finely divided arsenic sulfide can only be accomplished by adding a filter aid. Because of the large amount of hydrogen sulfide gas released, the entire apparatus must be made gas-tight.
- the amount of dithiophosphoric acid ester and adsorbent required depends on the crude phosphoric acid used. Generally 0.05-0.3% ester and 0.1-2% adsorbent, each based on the weight of phosphoric acid, are sufficient.
- the dwell time in each treatment stage should be at least 15 minutes, preferably 30-60 minutes.
- At diorganyldithiophosphoric acid esters there are those in whose general formula (RO) 2 PSSH R alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl. Those with alkyl residues of chain length C 4 - C 12 are particularly suitable. Any solid which is capable of retaining the thioester / heavy metal mixture from the phosphoric acid emulsion in a filter cake can be considered as the adsorbent. Particularly suitable for this purpose are silicate materials such as diatomaceous earth, perlite or synthetic silica, but also adsorbents consisting primarily of carbon such as activated carbon or carbon black.
- the reaction is carried out in a two-stage, separately heatable stirred tank cascade, the liquid running off the bottom of each reactor via a siphon. Both containers have a volume of one liter.
- 2 l of raw phosphoric acid and a certain amount of dialkyldithiophosphoric acid ester (R0) 2 PSSH are pumped per hour; a defined amount of adsorbent is stirred into the second reactor discontinuously every 5 minutes.
- the mash flows on a vacuum filter with a diameter of 20 cm and is separated into solid and purified phosphoric acid.
- the filtrate is free of dithiophosphoric acid ester.

Abstract
