- Panel strips of the type mentioned are used as wall and ceiling coverings, especially for suspended ceilings. Since the panel strips are attached to an underlying supporting structure, they have no supporting function. They can therefore be made thin-walled to save material and to reduce weight.
- the abutting panel strips are connected by panel connectors of the type mentioned at the beginning, which are inserted into the ends of two panel strips to be connected (see e.g. DE-A-2109117).
- the clamping effect achieved on the one hand must be large enough to hold the panel connector at the specified connection point of the two panel strips; on the other hand, the clamping effect between the panel strips and the panel connector accommodated therein must not be too great, because otherwise the end edges of the panel connectors will be visible to the outside through the thin-walled material of the panel strips.
- Separate resilient clamping elements would complicate the manufacture of the fan connector, which was previously made in one piece, and. make it more expensive.
- the object of the invention is therefore to design a panel connector of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that, on the one hand, it has a sufficient clamping effect for fixing the panel connector in the panel strips while still being manufactured simply, but on the other hand prevents the end edges of the panel connector from passing through thin-walled panel strips draw outwards.

- two parallel incisions can run into the web surface from each end of the panel connector. It is thereby achieved that the two end sections lying laterally outside of the incisions are narrower than in the case of only a single, central incision and therefore have greater elasticity.
- beads running in the longitudinal direction of the panel connector can be arranged in the web surface and / or each flange strip (see DE-A-2109117).
- this increases the bending stiffness of the panel connector in the middle area, so that even when using relatively thin-walled material for the panel connector, bending deformation at the connecting part of the two panel strips is excluded;
- these longitudinal beads give the possibility to manufacture the panel connectors from the same semifinished product as the panel strips to be connected in a very simple way, since the longitudinal beads reduce the external dimensions of the panel connector by a measure corresponding to the wall thickness, so that the panel connector with the desired fit in the panel strips to be connected can be inserted.

- the panel connector 1 which consists of a C-shaped sheet metal section, is of basically the same cross-sectional configuration.
- the external dimensions of the panel connector 1 are selected such that it fits in a clamped manner in the panel strips 2, 2 'to be connected.
- An incision 9 runs into the web surface 6 from the two opposite end edges of the web surface 6.
- the two edge edges 10 of each incision 9 are spaced from one another, so that the incision 9 forms a gap.
- An inwardly projecting flange longitudinal bead 12 is also provided in each of the two flange strips 7.
- the exemplary embodiment of a panel connector 1 shown in FIG. 2 differs from the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 only in that at the ends two parallel incisions 9 run into the web surface 6.
- edge strips 8 of the panel connector 1 are angled slightly more downward than the edge strips 5 of the panel strip 2. This facilitates the insertion of the panel connector 1.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a panel connector for thin-walled ceiling and wall panel strips made of sheet metal and / or plastic with a C-shaped cross-section, consisting of a sheet-metal section which is essentially C-shaped in cross-section, the flange strips angled from the longitudinal edges of a web surface and angled from them in each case Has edge strips and can be inserted with its two ends into the butt-jointed panel strips to be connected.
Panel strips of the type mentioned are used as wall and ceiling coverings, especially for suspended ceilings. Since the panel strips are attached to an underlying supporting structure, they have no supporting function. They can therefore be made thin-walled to save material and to reduce weight. The use of lightweight materials for the panel strips, for example light metal or plastic or composite materials thereof, also serves to reduce weight.
The abutting panel strips are connected by panel connectors of the type mentioned at the beginning, which are inserted into the ends of two panel strips to be connected (see e.g. DE-A-2109117). The clamping effect achieved on the one hand must be large enough to hold the panel connector at the specified connection point of the two panel strips; on the other hand, the clamping effect between the panel strips and the panel connector accommodated therein must not be too great, because otherwise the end edges of the panel connectors will be visible to the outside through the thin-walled material of the panel strips. Separate resilient clamping elements would complicate the manufacture of the fan connector, which was previously made in one piece, and. make it more expensive.
The object of the invention is therefore to design a panel connector of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that, on the one hand, it has a sufficient clamping effect for fixing the panel connector in the panel strips while still being manufactured simply, but on the other hand prevents the end edges of the panel connector from passing through thin-walled panel strips draw outwards.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that at least one incision with spaced-apart edge edges runs into the web surface from the two ends of the panel connector.
This incision increases the elasticity of the panel connector in its two end regions without, however, weakening the panel connector in its central region or increasing its elasticity there, which would lead to a reduction in the clamping effect. The cuts can be made with very little tool and work effort in the same operation with the panel connector being cut to length.
It is known that in the case of plug connection pieces, such as are used, for example, to produce a plug connection of pipes or other hollow profiles, the ends are tapered in order to be able to insert the plug connection pieces more easily into the hollow profiles to be connected. In the case of the cross-sectionally C-shaped panel connectors of the type concerned, such a tapering of the ends could only be achieved with a relatively large amount of work because each panel connector would have to be machined at its two ends in a further operation after being cut to length. In addition, it has been shown that connecting pieces tapered at the ends tend more easily to move from their connecting position into one of the two panel strips when there are movements between the panel strips to be connected, for example constant slight vibrations. With the panel connector according to the invention, this undesirable effect is prevented because the relatively sharp end edges of the panel connector are retained, which anchor themselves against such a displacement on the inside of the panel strips, but because of the increased elasticity due to the incisions in these end regions, they are only resiliently resilient, that a visible deformation of the panel strips is excluded.
According to a development of the inventive concept, two parallel incisions can run into the web surface from each end of the panel connector. It is thereby achieved that the two end sections lying laterally outside of the incisions are narrower than in the case of only a single, central incision and therefore have greater elasticity.
As is known, beads running in the longitudinal direction of the panel connector can be arranged in the web surface and / or each flange strip (see DE-A-2109117). On the one hand, this increases the bending stiffness of the panel connector in the middle area, so that even when using relatively thin-walled material for the panel connector, bending deformation at the connecting part of the two panel strips is excluded; on the other hand, these longitudinal beads give the possibility to manufacture the panel connectors from the same semifinished product as the panel strips to be connected in a very simple way, since the longitudinal beads reduce the external dimensions of the panel connector by a measure corresponding to the wall thickness, so that the panel connector with the desired fit in the panel strips to be connected can be inserted. At the same time, the longitudinal beads increase the elasticity of the panel connector in the direction transverse to the beads, which facilitates insertion into the panel strips.
