Description

The invention relates to a burner handle with valve device according to the preamble of claim 1.

In such known burner handles (Sievert LPG devices, June 1973, model Sievert 3487), a hose screw connection for connecting a gas supply hose and a pipe screw connection for connecting a connecting pipe to the burner head are provided at the rear end. At the front end of the burner handle, two spindle valves are arranged, which are designed as shut-off and control valves and one of which is used to set the main flame and the other to set an economy flame. There is also a spool under spring pressure, which can be operated with a quick-release lever in order to bypass the pilot light valve. A disadvantage of this burner handle is the fact that the shut-off and control valve for the main flame is designed in the same way as for the low flame. The operator can therefore change the control valve for the flame so that it can no longer be spoken of a saving effect. This also eliminates the necessary security, because a certain length of the flame is prescribed by the trade association.

The invention has for its object to provide a burner handle with a valve device in which the flame control valve can be preset without an unfamiliar operator could change this preset.

This task is solved on the basis of the measure of the main claim. The subclaims relate to refinements and developments of the invention.

By placing the shut-off and control valve closer to the handle and the flame control valve with slide piston closer to the connecting tube of the burner head, the flame control valve and the slide piston are subject to less high pressures. The arrangement of the flame control valve within an axial bore of the spool is not only space-saving, but also not recognizable to laypersons. While experts can correctly set the burner in this way and clean them with a short blow if there is a blockage, the flame control valve is not visibly accessible to unauthorized persons.

An embodiment of the invention is described with reference to the drawing. It shows
  • 1 shows a longitudinal section through the front end of a burner handle,
  • Fig. 2 rotated a longitudinal section through 90 degrees and
  • Fig. 3 is a side view of the burner handle.

The burner handle 1 shown broken off contains a feed tube 2, a grip shell 3 and a valve housing 4. The valve housing 4 has an internal thread 5 for the feed tube 2 and an external thread 6 for a connecting tube (not shown) to the burner head. The supply pipe 2 represents the gas i supply opening 46 and the channel 13 with the inner cone 7 represents the gas discharge opening 47 of the fuel gas. The supply opening 46 leads into the transition channel 8, which can be opened to a greater or lesser extent by a shut-off and control valve 9 leads via a connecting channel 10 into a transverse bore 11 of the valve housing 4. The transverse bore 11 is connected to the gas discharge opening 47 via an axially extending channel 13 and subsequent inner cone 7.

Arranged within the transverse bore 11 is a slide piston 14 which projects outwards with a head 15 and is sealed at this end by means of seals 16. The other end of the transverse bore 11 is sealed by further seals 17 and 18 and by the screw plug 19, which is designed as the seat of a return spring 20. An annular seal 21 is provided on the slide piston 14, specifically in the region of a conical surface 12 of the transverse bore 11. The return spring 20 presses the slide piston 14 with its annular seal 21 against the conical surface 12 and is supported by the respective gas pressure in the lower gas chamber 22. The transverse bore 11 is divided into two gas chambers 22 and 23 by the ring seal 21. The gas chamber 22 is connected to the gas supply opening 46 via the connecting duct 10 and the transition duct 8.

The valve housing 4 has a bearing eye 24, to which a quick-release lever 25 is pivotally attached, which rests on the head 15 of the slide piston 14 on the one hand and on the other hand on the stop cam 40 on the bearing eye 24. The quick-release lever 25 must keep the scope 41 for safety reasons. When the quick-release lever 25 is actuated, the slide piston 14 is displaced against the force of the return spring 20 and against the respective gas pressure in the gas chamber 22, and the ring seal 21 comes free from the conical surface 12, so that an annular gap separates the gas chamber 22 with the gas chamber 23 connects. The annular gap is sufficiently large that the gas flow is essentially determined by the setting on the shut-off and control valve 9.

The shut-off and control valve 9 consists essentially of a screw spindle 26 which can be rotated by a rotary knob 27 and has a conical end 28 which works together with a corresponding valve seat 43 in the valve housing 4. In this way, the inflow of gas from the transition channel 8 into the connecting channel 10 can be blocked, or a throttle gap can be kept free, which determines the size of the main flame.

In the axial direction of the slide piston 14, a stepped bore 29 is provided, which ends at a transverse bore 30. The transverse bore 30 opens into the upper gas chamber 23 and is thus connected to the outlet channel 13. Within the stepped bore 29 there is accommodated a low-flame setting valve 31 which is designed as a screw spindle and as such has a cylinder head 32 provided with a transverse slot, a threaded part 33 and a valve cone 34. The threaded part 33 cooperates with a corresponding threaded part of the stepped bore 29 so that the valve cone 34 can be displaced more or less towards a valve seat. If an annular gap remains free, this represents a throttle point which enables the gas flow to be set, which flows from the lower gas chamber 22 via a transverse bore 35 into a chamber 29. The chamber 29 adjoins the valve cone 34, which determines the opening width of the flame-setting valve 31 at the throttle point.

Since the flame control valve 31 is set by turning with a screwdriver, the spool 14 must be secured against rotation. The front end 42 on the spool 14 is therefore designed as a square head and interacts with corresponding square surfaces in the valve housing 4. The adjustment valve 31 should be stiff so that it does not move. The seals 17, which seal the lower gas chamber 22 to the outside, or a sealing material which is applied to the threaded part 33 by the low-flame setting valve 31 already act in this sense. As a further inhibition, a compression spring 37 can be fitted between a shoulder or flange of the flame-setting valve 31 and an end face of the slide piston 14, as a result of which the threads 33 on both sides are braced against one another.

The head of the locking screw 19 has a recess for receiving a locking cap 38 made of brass or transparent plastic in order to cover the access to the pilot light setting valve 31. The breech cap 38 must be provided with an air compensation bore 39 for ventilation when moving the slide piston 14.

The torch handle 1 is handled as follows:
  • When the shut-off and control valve 9 is turned on, the flame control valve 31 is set in the factory so that the flame reaches its prescribed length. Closing with the closure cap 38 makes it difficult for unauthorized persons to adjust the flame control valve 31. In operation, the main flame is set with the shut-off and control valve 9 and can be switched on and off by actuating the quick-release lever 25 via the slide piston 14.

Dirt can cause the annular gap on valve cone 34 to become clogged in whole or in part by low-flame setting valve 31. The person skilled in the art can then remove the closure cap 38 and enlarge the annular gap by opening the pilot flame adjustment valve 31 to such an extent that after opening the control and shut-off valve 9 the nozzle passage is cleaned of the gas flowing through it. Then the flame is reset.

Hand torches are available in different sizes. Because of the wide adjustability of the flame control valve 31, however, it is possible to use the same flame control valve 31 for all sizes.

The long quick-release lever 25 (FIG. 3) should not rest on the grip 3. This could easily pinch skin folds. Therefore, the housing 4 has been changed so that a sufficiently large distance 49 between the handle shell 3 and quick-release lever 25 is created by the created bearing surface 52 for the quick-release lever 25. At the same time, a guide surface 50 for the quick-release lever 25 in the upper position is formed on both sides of the housing 4, in addition to the guide surface 51 in the lower position, which contribute significantly to the necessary stability in rough construction site operation because the long quick-release lever 25 no longer bends laterally leaves.

In Fig. 3, the grip shell 3 is shown completely with hose screw 55 and the distance 56 between the grip shell 3 and quick-release lever 25 in the upper position. The distance 56 was chosen to be large, so that one can better grip the grip shell 3 when the main flame is switched off.

The bearing surface 52 limits the opening movement for the slide piston 14 and the compression of the return spring 20. This prevents overloading of the functionally important internal parts, and significantly reduces wear and the need for repairs.
