Beim Vierfarbendruck mit Flexodruckmaschinen mit mit Klischee- und Gegendruckzylindern versehenen Druckwerken müssen die ausgedruckten Druckfarben Gelb, Magenta, Cyan und Schwarz einzeln eingestellt werden, um ein möglichst originalgetreues Druckbild zu erhalten. Um ohne Veränderung des Farbtons und/oder der Farbstärke der einzelnen Druckfarben die gedruckten Farben automatisch richtig einstellen zu können, wird zur Bestimmung des Farbsollwertes in einem dem Farbvergleich dienenden Farbdreieck, dessen Ecken durch die Druckfarben Gelb (Y) Magenta (M) und Cyan (C) festgelegt sind, der Farbort für ein von allen Druckwerden ausgedrucktes Rasterprüffeld, an dem jede der Druckfarben mit einem eigenen Farbanteil etwa zwischen 40 und 60% beteiligt ist, bestimmt. Zur Bestimmung des Ist-Wertes der Farbe werden aufgrund einer densitometrischen Messung die tatsächlich vorhandenen Anteile der Druckfarben in dem Prüffeld gemessen und aus der Messung wird der Farbort des Ist-Wertes in dem Farbdreieck bestimmt. Aus dem Vergleich der Farbörter werden die Abweichungen der Ist-Werte der Farbanteile von den Sollwerten der Farbanteile jeder Farbe ermittelt. Die Verhältnisse sind also so, daß die Rasterpunkte mit sich verringerndem Achsabstand und damit zunehmendem Andruck verbreitert werden und eine zunehmend größere Fläche des zu bedruckenden Materials bedecken. Nach einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung ist vorgesehen, daß der gemessene Ist-Wert der Farbe dadurch durch Drehung von Strahlen um den Magenta-Eckpunkt und den Cyan-Eckpunkt des Dreiecks auf den Sollwert überführbar ist, daß in dem Farbdreieck ausgehend von den Ecken durch den Schwerpunkt, der dem Schwarz-Punkt entspricht, Linien gezogen und die Vierecke, die durch die von den Ecken ausgehenden Dreieckslinien und die über den Schwerpunkt hinaus verlängerten Linien definiert sind, vollflächig von der durch den zugehörigen Dreieckseckpunkt bestimmten Farbe überdeckt werden, daß von jeder einer Farbe zugeordneten Linie des Vierecks innerhalb des Farbdreiecks, die durch die über den Schwerpunkt hinaus verlängerten Linie gebildet ist, ein abnehmender Farbkeil der Farbe des durch diese Linie geschlossenen Vierecks zu dem gegen- . überliegenden Eckpunkt in dem Dreieck gebildet wird, das mit dieser Linie als Basis durch eine Dreiecksseite und die Verbindungslinie zwischen dem Schwerpunkt und dem Eckpunkt bestimmt ist, und daß das Maß der Achsabstandsänderung des Klischeezylinders von dem Gegendruckzylinder durch die Winkel bestimmt wird, die die beiden Strahlen jeweils von dem Ist-Wert zu dem Soll-Wert überstreichen.
