Description

The present invention relates to a joint for adjusting the angle of inclination of awning arms, which has a threaded rod which is connected to a joint piece rotatable about an axis.

Awnings are known which have arms with joints with which the awnings can be opened or closed. Due to the different positions of the sun, it is desirable to adjust the angle of the awning arms. When the sun is low, it is possible that the extended awning will no longer offer sufficient sun protection. Here it would be desirable if the angle of inclination of the awning arm could be increased. On the other hand, in summer with a high position of the sun it is advantageous if the smallest possible inclination angle of the awning arm is set and the shaded area is thereby larger than is the case with a large inclination angle of the awning arm. When the awning is installed by the delivery company, a certain angle of inclination is set. If the angle of inclination is now to be changed, this has usually only been possible through a difficult and cumbersome change in the awning arm, which, moreover, could usually only be carried out by the manufacturer.

In the European patent specification 0 000 915 a joint of the type mentioned is described. In this known joint, the tendency of the awning arms to drop out is set by a stop which can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction of the threaded rod. This stop is designed as a threaded ring or threaded nut. The desired tendency to fail can be set by moving this stop. This stop can only be adjusted directly on the threaded rod by hand. A subsequent adjustment of the angle of inclination when the awning is extended is no longer possible with this known design.

The object underlying the present invention is to propose a joint for awning arms of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the angle of inclination of the awning arms can be adjusted in a simple manner. In particular, this adjustment of the angle of inclination should be simple and easy for the user of the awning to carry out. Furthermore, this adjustment should also be possible when the awning is extended.

This object is achieved in that the threaded rod can be driven after assembly of the joint.

The threaded rod can preferably be driven by means of a worm gear, the worm of the worm gear being rotatable by means of a hexagonal rod.

According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the joint piece which can be rotated about an axis has projections provided with a bore in the radial direction on the end faces.

A bolt provided with a bore or with a thread is preferably arranged through the bores of the projections.

The threaded rod is advantageously inserted through the bore of the bolt and secured by means of nuts.

According to a further preferred embodiment, the threaded rod is cut into the thread of the bolt.

Advantageously, a fork head connected to the awning frame can be connected by means of a bolt to a cuboid projection of the joint piece.

With the joint according to the invention, it is possible to effect a change in the angle of inclination of the threaded rod by rotating the threaded rod, the threaded rod being connected to a joint piece which carries the awning arm. The change in the position of the threaded rod can in turn be carried out again by turning a worm gear by means of a hexagonal rod. This hexagonal rod can extend through several joints arranged one behind the other, so that by turning a single hexagonal rod, e.g. by means of a crank attached to it, several joints and thus several awning arms can be adjusted.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Advantages of the invention are described in more detail with reference to this drawing. Show it:
  • Figure 1 shows a section through an inventive joint with part of an attached awning frame and
  • Figure 2 is a top view of the joint shown in Figure 1.

The threaded rod 1 is connected to the joint piece 3, which is rotatable about the axis 2. Furthermore, the threaded rod 1 can be driven by means of the worm gear 4, the worm of the worm gear 4 being rotatable with the hexagonal rod 4. The joint piece 3, which is rotatable about the axis 2, in each case has on the end face the projections 9 and 10 which point in the radial direction and are provided with the bore 7 and 8. Through these bores 7 and 8 of the projections 9 and 10, a bolt 12 provided with the bore 11 is arranged.

The threaded rod 1 is inserted through the bore 11 of the bolt 12 and secured by means of the nuts 13 and 14. Furthermore, the threaded rod can be turned into the thread of the bolt 12. The fork head 16 connected to the awning frame 15 can be connected to the bolt 17 on the cuboid projection 18 of the joint piece 3.

If you turn the hexagonal rod 5, the worm gear 4 becomes the Threaded rod 1 moves. If this threaded rod 1 was in a horizontal position, the position of the threaded rod 1 can be changed in this way by rotating the hexagonal rod 5.

Figure imgb0001
In Figure 1, the changed position of the threaded rod 1 is shown in dashed lines. It can be seen that the threaded rod 1 has attained an angle of inclination with respect to its original, solid position. The joint piece 3 has also changed its position and accordingly the angle of inclination of the awning frame 15 has been changed. This change in the position can be seen in the comparison of the solid position of the respective parts to the positions shown in dashed lines. It can be seen that the joint piece 3 has rotated about the axis 2. If you now want to bring the awning frame 15 back into the original position, this change in the angle of inclination is brought about by turning the hexagonal rod 5 in the opposite direction. By rotating the hexagonal rod 5, the threaded rod 1 is brought into its original position by taking the joint piece 3 with it via the worm gear 4. The awning frame 15 is also returned to its original position via the joint piece 3. It is now possible to turn the hexagonal rod 5 both by hand using a crank and also electrically. This turning of the hexagonal rod is so simple that any user of an awning can carry it out. According to the position of the sun, an adjustment of the angle of inclination of awning arms is possible in a simple manner by the joint according to the invention.
