Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for strapping objects, in particular packages, with a U-shaped strap guide frame, in which a strapping tape is guided with its free end forward around the item to be strapped and which has sliding surfaces for the strapping tape on its inner sides and on it open side is closed by a movable traverse, which also has a sliding surface for the band on the inside and is adjustable in the longitudinal direction on the free frame legs (US Pat. No. 3,613,557).
  • the strapping which can be a steel strap or a plastic strap
  • a strap guide frame around the object to be strapped, for example around a filled cardboard box or around a stack of tubes, and then tightly applied to the package with a tensioning and closing device , tensioned and closed
  • the band guide frame which surrounds the object to be strapped at a distance, has a band channel provided with a sliding surface, which is closed on the inside by resilient flaps, through which the band can emerge inwards and lay tightly around the package, when the strapping is pulled together and the ring it forms becomes smaller than the strap guide frame.
  • the strapping coming from a supply is advanced through the channel of the strap guide frame with the aid of a drive, for example by two friction wheel rollers pressed against each other and driven in rotation.
  • the front, free end of the strapping tape which slides along the sliding surface of the strap guide frame, moves further and further away from the drive point.
  • the front, free end of the strapping encounters resistance, it bends and the subsequent strap is compressed in the strap guide channel and forms loops there, which press on the resilient inner cover of the strap guide frame. This opens it and the tape comes out of the tape guide frame before it has been properly guided around the package.
  • one side of the strap guide frame is adjustable and designed as a cross member that moves along two mutually opposite frame parts and can either be adjusted to the respective height or the respective width of the package to be strapped.
  • the ends of the sliding surface of the movable crosshead must slide along the sliding surfaces of the frame legs. Since the ends of the crossmember can not be guided without play on the sliding surfaces of the frame legs, it can easily happen that the front end of the strapping gets stuck on the projecting lower edge at the transition from the one frame leg to the sliding surface of the crossmember. The strapping can then no longer be advanced properly, but is compressed and forms the loops mentioned above, which lead to a malfunction.
  • the object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to design a belt guide frame with a movable cross member in such a way that malfunctions cannot occur even when moving belts with low inherent rigidity.
  • the sliding surface of that frame leg, from which the free end of the strapping comes to the sliding surface of the movable cross member has grooves extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame legs and that the sliding surface of the cross member is provided with projecting sliding surface parts which engage in the grooves of the sliding surface of the frame leg.
  • This configuration has the advantage that there is no projection at the transition point between the frame leg and the movable crossmember, on which the front end of the belt can get stuck during feed, but there is always a continuous transition between the sliding surfaces of the frame leg and the movable crossmember regardless of the position of the traverse.
  • the sliding surface of the crossmember is rounded off at its ends abutting the sliding surfaces of the frame legs and merges smoothly into the projecting sliding surface parts.
  • the front end of the strapping tape is hereby continuously transferred from the frame leg to the cross member and from this back to the frame leg without interference.
  • the projecting sliding surface parts can be formed by guide strips which are fastened to the cross member and engage in the grooves in the sliding surfaces of the frame legs. This also makes good leadership the traverse reached along the frame leg during its adjustment movement. In this case, it is expedient to arrange the guide strips with the sliding surfaces on sliding shoes which are made of self-lubricating material and are fastened to the ends of the crossbar.
  • 10 denotes a device for strapping packages 11, which consists of a strap guide frame 12 and a tensioning and closing device 13 for the strapping strap 14, which is pulled off a supply roll 15.
  • the package 11 is fed to the strapping device 10 on a roller conveyor 16 which extends through the strapping device 10 and which is only indicated in FIG. 1 by one of its rollers.
  • the tape guide frame 12 which surrounds the package 11 at a distance, consists of a lower frame member 17 and two side frame legs 18 and 19, which are firmly connected to the lower frame member 17 by corner pieces 20 and 21 and together with the frame member 17 an open at the top U form.
  • a movable crossmember 22 is displaceably guided in a height-adjustable manner, which carries the tensioning and closing device 13 and the feed device 23 mounted thereon for the strapping 14.
  • the strapping 14 is pulled off the supply roll 15 and reaches the feed device 23 via deflection rollers (not shown here), which has the free end of the strapping 14 in the area of the right end of the traverse in FIG. 1 through the inside to the inside 24 of the Traverse pushes. From here, the strapping 14 then first reaches the right frame leg 18, slides downward on the inside 25 thereof, then over the lower frame member 17 and then upwards on the inside 25 of the left frame leg 19 until it passes onto the movable cross member and from is passed there into the tensioning and closing device 13.
  • the frame legs 18 and 19, the lower frame spar 17 and the upper, movable crossmember 22 of the belt guide frame 12 have a substantially U-shaped cross section (FIG. 5) and form a channel 27 which is open to the interior space 26 enclosed by the frame and in which the strapping 14 is guided so that it to the side, d. H. in Fig. 1 perpendicular to the plane of the drawing.
  • the grooves 27 of the spar 17, the vertical frame legs 18 and 19 and the upper cross member 22 are covered by paired angle flaps 28, which on the side walls 29 and 30 of the upper cross member 22 and the vertical frame legs 18 and 19 and the lower frame spar 17 are fastened in such a way that they can pivot resiliently in the direction of the arrows 30 to the outside (FIG.
  • each angle flap sits on a bolt 34 with an elongated hole 33 and is pressed against the frame by a conical spring 35 which is supported on a collar or a disk 36 on the bolt 34 (FIG. 4).
  • a slide shoe 42 is fastened, which is preferably made of self-lubricating plastic and carries on its side facing the frame leg 19 three guide strips 43 which are arranged at a lateral distance from one another and project beyond the outer side 44 of the guide shoe 42 and extend in the longitudinal direction of the frame legs 18 and 19 respectively.
  • the guide strips 43 engage in three mutually parallel grooves 45 which are arranged in the sliding surface 38 of the frame leg 19 and extend in the longitudinal direction thereof (FIGS. 2, 3 and 4). It can be seen from FIG. 2 that the sliding surface 37 continues into the strips 43 and forms protruding sliding surface parts 46 there, which engage in the grooves 45 and thereby as far as below the sliding surface 38 of the Reach vertical frame leg 19.
  • the side walls 29 of the upper cross member 22 laterally overlap the vertical frame leg 19 and thereby guide the upper cross member 22 on the vertical frame leg 19.
  • the side walls 29 carry at their front ends 47 which cross over the frame legs, the spreading strips 31 already mentioned above, which are beveled in a wedge shape at their upper and lower ends (FIG. 3), so that they move into and out of the crossmember 22 Retract the angle flaps 28 and spread them apart so that the strapping 14 can emerge from the strap guide channel of the frame leg 19 and enter the strap guide channel 27 of the cross member 22.
  • the guide of the crossmember 22 is designed in exactly the same way as in the area of the frame leg 19.
  • the sliding surface 37 of the upper crossmember 22 also has no projecting strips here Sliding surfaces, since the strapping 14 abuts the always smooth sliding surface 39 here from the crossmember 22, so that finger-like toothing, which is provided at the opposite end of the crossmember, is not necessary.
  • the tape guide frame can also be arranged as a lying U, in which a side wall on the upper and lower bars can be moved in order to adjust the size of the tape guide frame to the package.
  • the tensioning and closing devices are expediently located on the laterally displaceable part of the frame.
  • more or less interlocking fingers and grooves can be provided and it is also possible to effect the opening of the resilient angle flaps in the connection area of the cross member in another way.
