Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for automatically setting the outer thread end of balls on automatic ball winding machines with at least one winding mandrel, a winding arm, a thread guide and a cutting device for the thread to be wound.
- the invention further relates to a method for operating the device according to the invention, the winding thread being guided in front of the front end of the winding mandrel after the winding process has ended.
- German Patent No. 2,513,144 shows a shield mandrel for known automatic coil winding machines, which can have a number of horizontally or obliquely arranged winding mandrels as spindles. Each winding mandrel is assigned a rotating winding arm, a cutting device, a thread guide and gripping devices for pulling the balls from the winding mandrels.
- the thread is guided through the winding arm and the thread guides in front of the front end of the winding mandrel, cut off by the cutting device, and the thread end is sucked into a suction tube arranged inside the dome and there. held by or fixed.
- the suction tube extends through the entire winding mandrel and is simultaneously designed as a plunger for actuating the shield struts of the shield mandrel.
- a vacuum pump which provides the suction power required to fix the thread end.
- the energy required to generate the suction flow in the suction tube can be significantly higher than the energy required to drive the winding mandrel.
- the thread end can be sucked more or less well into the suction tube, which results in considerable differences in the workflow and operation of the winding device. This necessitates frequent adaptation of the winding device to the different types of yarn or thread, or faults in the system have to be accepted, which leads to undesired interruptions in operation.
- French patent no. 1 057 920 also shows an umbrella mandrel with a winding arm and a cutting device.
- the cut end of the thread is fixed in that the winding thread is inserted through the winding arm into a hook at the front end of the winding mandrel.
- This hook is pulled with the inserted thread end through a pull rod into the inner cavity of the core of the winding mandrel designed as a tube.
- the thread is set by näuels and pulled during removal of the coil from the mandrel into the interior of screen K.
- the disadvantage of this device is that the winding thread can get caught in the hook and, as a result, the skein cannot be pulled off completely.
- the invention has for its object to avoid the disadvantages of the known prior art, and to provide a solution in which no additional drive power is required to set the thread end, and the thread end after it has been passed over the front end of the winding mandrel , can be set in any position.
- the invention is also intended to enable all thread thicknesses and thread types to be treated in the same way.
- the invention solves this problem by arranging at least three thread channels running radially from the center at the front end of the winding mandrel, which are formed by depressions in the front surface of the front end of the winding mandrel.
- Each thread channel is assigned a closure part which is movable relative to the front surface of the winding mandrel and which at least partially covers the opening of the thread channel in the region of the front surface of the winding mandrel when the thread end is fixed in the thread channel.
- the closure parts form an annular closing crown, which has the same number of thread channels as the front end of the winding mandrel, this front end being formed by an end cap and the closing crown being connected to an axis of rotation arranged inside the winding mandrel.
- This axis of rotation and the closing crown can be pivoted about the longitudinal axis of the axis of rotation or the winding mandrel relative to the end cap and the outer parts of the winding mandrel.
- the thread channels in the closing crown have different dimensions in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the winding mandrel and are the same width in the forward-facing part and at least twice as wide at the foot as the thread channels in the end cap at the front end of the mandrel.
- the closing crown and the axis of rotation can further be pivoted by at least the angle which is formed by the side surfaces of a thread channel on the end cap and by the central axis of the axis of rotation as a corner point.
- the axis of rotation is arranged within this plunger and the plunger is surrounded by a rotary guide.
- This rotary guide is firmly connected to the sleeve and the guide hub of the winding mandrel and rotates with the entire winding mandrel.
- a guide track is arranged in the rotary guide, in which a cam connected to the axis of rotation engages.
- This cam is guided through the wall of the plunger, this implementation taking the form of an elongated hole through the wall of the plunger in the direction of the circumference of the plunger has, and thus the opening is larger than the diameter of the cam.
- the method for operating the device according to the invention is characterized in that a thread channel of the closing crown and the end cap at the front end of the winding mandrel are aligned with one another and form a common thread channel during the winding process.
- the ball is released and at the same time the axis of rotation in the winding mandrel is pivoted and the closing parts of the closing crown are thus pushed in front of the openings of the thread channels on the end cap.
- the thread is then cut, the ball is pulled off the mandrel, and the end of the thread is drawn into the ball and then pulled out of the pair of thread channels on the end cap and closing crown.
- the shield struts are opened and closed by a plunger that is axially displaceable in the winding mandrel, it is advantageous to move the axis of rotation with the plunger in the longitudinal direction and at the same time to pivot it relative to the plunger, whereby the closing crown opposite the end cap at the front end of the Winding mandrel twisted and the closing parts of the closing crown are pushed in front of the openings of the thread channels.
- the advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that, in addition to the drive for the winding mandrel and winding arm, no additional drives and energy consumers are required for fixing the thread end.
- the winding process can be interrupted in any position and the thread with the thread guide brought to the front end of the winding mandrel and fixed there. A fixation of the holding position of the mandrel and the winding arm is not necessary, which results in a significant simplification of the operation.
- the arrangement and design of the thread channels in the closing crown and the end cap can be varied over a wide range and adapted to the different operating conditions. Threads with different diameters and with thickening as well as roughened or not roughened yarns can be determined or held with the same device without changes and disturbances.
- the shield mandrel 1 shown in Figure 1 consists of a sleeve 12, a guide hub 11 and longitudinal struts 2 and side struts 3, 4 and 5.
- the sleeve 12 is connected via the flange 13 to a bearing and drive unit, not shown.
- the entire winding mandrel 1 can be rotated via this drive and bearing unit, and thus a thread can be wound onto the struts 2, 3, 5.
- a tubular plunger 7, which extends through the entire winding mandrel 1, is arranged in the interior of the mandrel 1. This plunger 7 can be moved back and forth in the guide hub 11 in the direction of the arrow 28 along the longitudinal axis 22.

Description
The invention relates to a device for automatically setting the outer thread end of balls on automatic ball winding machines with at least one winding mandrel, a winding arm, a thread guide and a cutting device for the thread to be wound. The invention further relates to a method for operating the device according to the invention, the winding thread being guided in front of the front end of the winding mandrel after the winding process has ended.
Devices and methods for automatically setting the outer thread end of balls are known from German Patent No. 2,513,144 and French Patent No. 1,057,920. German Patent Specification No. In this device, after the winding process has been completed, the thread is guided through the winding arm and the thread guides in front of the front end of the winding mandrel, cut off by the cutting device, and the thread end is sucked into a suction tube arranged inside the dome and there. held by or fixed. The suction tube extends through the entire winding mandrel and is simultaneously designed as a plunger for actuating the shield struts of the shield mandrel. At the rear end of the suction pipe there is a connection to a vacuum pump, which provides the suction power required to fix the thread end. With this type of definition of the thread end, a high suction power of the vacuum pump is required. The energy required to generate the suction flow in the suction tube can be significantly higher than the energy required to drive the winding mandrel. Depending on the company thickness and type of thread, the thread end can be sucked more or less well into the suction tube, which results in considerable differences in the workflow and operation of the winding device. This necessitates frequent adaptation of the winding device to the different types of yarn or thread, or faults in the system have to be accepted, which leads to undesired interruptions in operation.
French patent no. 1 057 920 also shows an umbrella mandrel with a winding arm and a cutting device. In this device, the cut end of the thread is fixed in that the winding thread is inserted through the winding arm into a hook at the front end of the winding mandrel. This hook is pulled with the inserted thread end through a pull rod into the inner cavity of the core of the winding mandrel designed as a tube. The thread is set by näuels and pulled during removal of the coil from the mandrel into the interior of screen K. The disadvantage of this device is that the winding thread can get caught in the hook and, as a result, the skein cannot be pulled off completely. Furthermore, fibers of the winding thread remain on the hook, which prevents the winding thread from being inserted into the hook after a certain operating time and makes it impossible to fix the thread end. Before the thread is cut, the winding arm, winding mandrel and separating device must be brought into a precisely defined position so that the winding thread can be inserted into the hook and remains there.
The invention has for its object to avoid the disadvantages of the known prior art, and to provide a solution in which no additional drive power is required to set the thread end, and the thread end after it has been passed over the front end of the winding mandrel , can be set in any position. The invention is also intended to enable all thread thicknesses and thread types to be treated in the same way.
The invention solves this problem by arranging at least three thread channels running radially from the center at the front end of the winding mandrel, which are formed by depressions in the front surface of the front end of the winding mandrel. Each thread channel is assigned a closure part which is movable relative to the front surface of the winding mandrel and which at least partially covers the opening of the thread channel in the region of the front surface of the winding mandrel when the thread end is fixed in the thread channel. In a further embodiment of the invention, the closure parts form an annular closing crown, which has the same number of thread channels as the front end of the winding mandrel, this front end being formed by an end cap and the closing crown being connected to an axis of rotation arranged inside the winding mandrel. This axis of rotation and the closing crown can be pivoted about the longitudinal axis of the axis of rotation or the winding mandrel relative to the end cap and the outer parts of the winding mandrel. The thread channels in the closing crown have different dimensions in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the winding mandrel and are the same width in the forward-facing part and at least twice as wide at the foot as the thread channels in the end cap at the front end of the mandrel. The closing crown and the axis of rotation can further be pivoted by at least the angle which is formed by the side surfaces of a thread channel on the end cap and by the central axis of the axis of rotation as a corner point.
If the device is used in umbrella mandrels with a plunger which can be displaced longitudinally in the interior of the mandrel to open and close the shield struts, there are further advantages in that the axis of rotation is arranged within this plunger and the plunger is surrounded by a rotary guide. This rotary guide is firmly connected to the sleeve and the guide hub of the winding mandrel and rotates with the entire winding mandrel. A guide track is arranged in the rotary guide, in which a cam connected to the axis of rotation engages. This cam is guided through the wall of the plunger, this implementation taking the form of an elongated hole through the wall of the plunger in the direction of the circumference of the plunger has, and thus the opening is larger than the diameter of the cam. When the plunger is moved in the longitudinal direction of the winding mandrel within the guide hub, the cam slides in the curved guideway of the rotary guide and thereby rotates the axis of rotation relative to the plunger.
The method for operating the device according to the invention is characterized in that a thread channel of the closing crown and the end cap at the front end of the winding mandrel are aligned with one another and form a common thread channel during the winding process. After inserting the thread into a pair of these common thread channels, the ball is released and at the same time the axis of rotation in the winding mandrel is pivoted and the closing parts of the closing crown are thus pushed in front of the openings of the thread channels on the end cap. The thread is then cut, the ball is pulled off the mandrel, and the end of the thread is drawn into the ball and then pulled out of the pair of thread channels on the end cap and closing crown. If the shield struts are opened and closed by a plunger that is axially displaceable in the winding mandrel, it is advantageous to move the axis of rotation with the plunger in the longitudinal direction and at the same time to pivot it relative to the plunger, whereby the closing crown opposite the end cap at the front end of the Winding mandrel twisted and the closing parts of the closing crown are pushed in front of the openings of the thread channels.
The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that, in addition to the drive for the winding mandrel and winding arm, no additional drives and energy consumers are required for fixing the thread end. The winding process can be interrupted in any position and the thread with the thread guide brought to the front end of the winding mandrel and fixed there. A fixation of the holding position of the mandrel and the winding arm is not necessary, which results in a significant simplification of the operation. The arrangement and design of the thread channels in the closing crown and the end cap can be varied over a wide range and adapted to the different operating conditions. Threads with different diameters and with thickening as well as roughened or not roughened yarns can be determined or held with the same device without changes and disturbances.

The
The front end of the
18, rutscht. In Figure 3, the front end of the winding
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the
As shown in FIG. 5, a
The
