- a tension spring 22, of low stiffness, hung on the bottom of the housing 3 acts on the lever 15 to apply it against the electromagnet rod 19 (arrow G).
- the operation of the locking device is as follows: in the normal skiing position the heel grip 4 keeps the rear of the ski boot applied against a part 1a of the plate 1 forming the heel support.
- Heel grip 4 is immobilized in its position retaining the boot by means of the locking levers 11 and 15 which occupy the locked position shown in FIG. 1.
- the trigger signal supplied to the electromagnet when the traction force T ( Figure 1) exerted by the shoe on the heel grip 4 becomes dangerous, causes the displacement of the control rod 19 ( Figure 2).

- the mutual support zone between the surfaces 9 and 12 has been assimilated to a point A.
- the vertical tensile force T acting on the heel grip 4 generates at point A a force P whose amplitude is proportional to T and whose direction is normal to the surface 12.
- the parasitic moment exerted on the lever 11 being zero, the parasitic friction exerted between the projection 13 and the roller 17 of the lever 15 is also zero so that during the triggering the electromagnet has to overcome that the efforts of the small springs 20 and 22 whose force is negligible.
- This cam is mounted on a rotary axis disposed transversely to the housing 3 between the levers 11 and 15. The cam is arranged so that its rotation in the appropriate direction makes the levers 11, 15 pivot from their position in FIG. 2 to their locked position of figure 1.
- the locking device according to the invention could also be adapted to a front stop releasing the shoe laterally in the event of excessive torsional forces or to a multidirectional attachment, for example of the ball-and-socket type, capable of releasing the shoe both vertically and laterally.
- This adaptation is possible by minor modifications, within the reach of those skilled in the art.
