An electromagnetic switching device having a switch position indicator (7) which is directly operated by the contact bridge carrier (1) and projects above the contour of the switching device in at least one switch position and the adjusting displacement of which is increased relative to that of the contact bridge carrier (1) by means of a snap mechanism, characterised in that the switch position indicator (7) is coupled to the contact bridge carrier (1) with play both in the switching-on and in the switching-off direction, in such manner that both during opening and closing of the make contacts, the taking up of the switch position indicator (7) by the contact bridge carrier (1) only takes place when the contact bridge carrier (1) has already covered a specific distance ; and that, during the opening of the make contacts, the distance is such that after it has been covered, the contact opening gap fulfils the separation function requirements.
2. A switching device as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the switch position indicator (7) is displaceably guided with a T-shaped attachment (8) in a rectangular opening (9) of the contact bridge carrier (1) which determines the play.
3. A switching device as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, characterised in that the snap mechanism is formed by means of a snap spring (14).
4. A switching device as claimed in one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the switch position indicator (7) is allotted and additional control contact (21).
5. A switching device as claimed in one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the switching device can be blocked in the separation position by means of the switch position indicator (7).
6. A switching device as claimed in one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the switch position indicator (7) comprises a tiltably- mounted segment indicator (22).
7. A switching device as claimed in one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the snap mechanism (14) and the switch position indicator (7) can be coupled to the switching device as an additional structural unit.
8. A switching device as claimed in Claim 7, characterised in that the additionnal structural unit can be laterally coupled to the switching device in place of an auxiliary switch unit.
