Definitions
- the present invention relates to an apparatus for waxing, in particular for the face, and in accordance with the preamble of claim 1.
- Such an apparatus is known from FR-A No 1459825.
- the wax is placed directly in the duct, and it is pushed towards the nozzle by a piston loaded by a spring.
- the nozzle can be opened or closed by means of a shutter.
- the device is opened, a wax cartridge is placed in it, it is waited for it to melt completely in the duct, after which the shutter can be actuated to allow the wax to be ejected under the push of the piston. If the capacity of the device is insufficient for the operation in progress, considerable time and significant handling, with the risk of losing certain removable parts of the device, are necessary before being able to continue the epilation operation.
- an apparatus for melting and distributing thermoplastic material is known. It is a pistol in the barrel of which one advances a stick of thermoplastic glue entering from the back. The stick passes through heating means which make it melt, and it is then extruded by an outlet nozzle. Behind the heating means, the stick is engaged in a ring which can move back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the barrel in connection with a trigger. To advance the stick towards the nozzle, the trigger is pressed. At first, this applies a ratchet against the side wall of the stick and thus causes adhesion between the ring and the stick. The subsequent movement of the trigger moves the ring by pushing the stick into the duct adjacent to the heating means. If, at the end of the trigger stroke, it is desired to eject an additional quantity of glue, the trigger is released, which moves the ring back without causing the stick, the pawl being ineffective in this direction. The above process can then be restarted.
- the pistol thus formed makes it possible to spread a large quantity of molten product without the need to reload the device. It is enough that the stick used at the start is long enough. However, such a device is not suitable for wax. Indeed, for reasons of demolding, it is practically impossible to produce a long stick of wax. On the other hand, the use of such sticks would be very impractical. Indeed, following each hair removal operation, would remain attached to the device a very bulky and very fragile stick, therefore particularly troublesome.
- the wax has the particularity of softening as soon as it reaches a temperature slightly higher than the usual ambient temperatures. Thus, in the zone where it is pushed towards the heating means, the wax tends to soften due to the proximity of the heating means. Therefore, the system proposed in the FR-A? 2155953, consisting of pressing laterally on the stick, would deform the wax stick and could make it incapable of entering the duct adjacent to the heating means.
- the object of the invention is thus to propose an apparatus making it possible to carry out without significant discontinuity any epilation operation whatever its importance, without however leading to the difficulties to which the pure and simple application of the lessons of FR-A would lead. No. 2,155,953.
- the cartridges can be loaded laterally in the magazine as needed. Such reloading is very rapid since it suffices to bring the carriage back before introducing the cartridge, then to start again to maneuver the carriage in the direction corresponding to the ejection of the molten wax.
- the heel, resting on the rear face of the cartridges, tends as little as possible to deform the cartridges during pushing.
- the invention thus amounts to advantageously combining almost continuous operation with regard to the production of molten wax with operation by periodic recharging with regard to the supply of solidified wax.
- the device is particularly practical for removing hair from the face yourself.
- the apparatus for depilating with wax in particular for the face, comprises an outer casing 1 made of plastic, constituted by two half-shells assembled longitudinally.
- This housing 1 contains a magazine 2 for receiving a block of depilatory wax, in the form of a cylindrical cartridge 3 (see fig. 1 and 4), a cylindrical conduit 4 extending between the magazine 2 and a substantially frustoconical nozzle 5 which opens out. outside the device, a carriage 6 for engaging in the conduit 4 the cylindrical cartridge 3 and for pushing it towards the nozzle 5 and a thermistor 7 arranged in thermal contact with the conduit 4 to heat and carry the wax engaged in the conduit 4 at a temperature of the order of 60 ° C.
- the carriage 6 can be moved manually by the user in the direction of the conduit 4 by means of a projecting control button 8 outside the housing 1.
- This carriage 6 has on its rear part 6a a heel 6b constituting a bearing surface for the cartridge 3.
- the housing 1 has a generally elongated shape allowing manual gripping by the user, as indicated in FIG. 4.
- the axis of the nozzle 5 is inclined relative to the elongation axis of the housing 1.
- the end 1 of the housing 1 adjacent to the nozzle 5 has a shape adapted to the inclination of the axis of the nozzle 5 .
- the cylindrical duct 4 is made of a metal which is a good conductor of heat such as aluminum to allow excellent heat exchange with the thermistor 7.
- the part 4a of the cylindrical conduit 4 which is adjacent to the thermistor 7 extends in the direction of the elongation axis of the housing 1.
- This part 4a of the cylindrical conduit 4 is connected by an elbow to an inclined part 4b which opens out outside by nozzle 5.
- This nozzle 5 is advantageously made of a flexible plastic material which is not adherent to the wax, such as silicone.
- This nozzle 5 is removably mounted on the end 1a of the housing 1. It is advantageous to be able to have several interchangeable nozzles 5, having outlet orifices 5a of different sections. Thus, depending on the section of these nozzles 5, it is possible to obtain, at their outlet, a more or less thick strip or a strand of pasty wax of more or less large diameter.
- the part 4a of the conduit 4 has an internal diameter which corresponds substantially to the diameter of the wax cartridge 3 which is placed in the magazine 2 along the axis of this conduit 4.
- the thermal contact between the thermistor 7 and the part 4a of the conduit 4 is made by means of two metal shells 9 which cover the thermistor 7 and the part 4a of the conduit 4, by matching the profile of the latter (see in particular fig. 3 ).
- a ring 10 of flexible plastic material which is not adherent towards the wax, such as silicone.
- This ring 10 has on its internal surface an annular and flexible lip 11 defining a frustoconical internal surface, flared towards the inlet 12 of this ring 10.
- the smallest diameter of this frustoconical surface is slightly less than the diameter of the wax cartridge 3 .
- the cover 13 In the closed position, as shown in fig. 1, the cover 13 is locked to the housing by means of a spout 14a, formed on the edge of the cover opposite the articulation 14, this spout 14a being snapped onto a boss 15 formed on the housing 1.
- This locking is carried out against the action of a spring 16 fixed to the cover 13 near the articulation 14, and bearing on a stop 17 formed inside the housing 1.
- the outer surface of the cover 13 is located substantially in the extension of the outer surface of the housing 1.
- the cover 13 moreover, carries, on its internal surface 18, the carriage 6 and the members for guiding its movement in the direction of the cylindrical conduit 4.
- the movement of the carriage 6 is guided by means of a finger 19, engaged in a slot 20 (see also fig. 2) formed in the cover 13, according to the elongation axis of the housing 1.
- This finger 19 is connected, on the one hand, to the carriage 6 and, on the other hand, to the control button 8 which projects from the cover 13.
- a leaf spring 21 which tends to separate the rear part 6a of this carriage 6 from the cover 13 (see fig. 1 and 4).
- the cover 13 has on its internal face 18 a rack 22 which cooperates with a retaining pawl 23 fixed on the rear part 6a of the carriage 6 to prevent the advancement of the latter when exercising an abnormal push on the control button 8.
- a wax cartridge 3 is placed in the magazine 2.
- the cover 13 is unlocked by pushing it slightly downwards to release the spout 14a from the boss 15, then it is opened to bring it into position 13a shown in FIG. 1.
- the carriage 6 is put in the low position, that is to say moved as far as possible from the inlet of the conduit 4, by pushing the control button 8 downwards, as indicated in FIG. 1. A cartridge 3 is then placed on this carriage and the cover 13 is closed.
- the electrical supply to the thermistor 7 is started.
- the cartridge 3 is engaged in the cylindrical conduit 4 by pushing the carriage 6 along the arrow F in FIG. 4.
- the cartridge 3 retracts the flexible lip 11 outwards.
- the wax 3a contained in the duct 4 is brought to a temperature of the order of 60 ° C. At this temperature, the wax 3a is sufficiently fluid to be able to be extruded through the orifice 5a of the nozzle 5 when the carriage 6 towards the duct 4 by pushing the control button 8.
- the wax 3a emerges from the nozzle 5 in the form of a strip or flange 3b of pasty wax which the user applies to the skin 24 of his face at the precise place which he wishes to depilate.
- the depilatory device according to the invention is particularly convenient to use. It makes it possible to apply wax to the skin with extreme precision and in perfectly dosed quantities, which makes it possible to depilate the skin in very sensitive places and of very small extent, for example close to the mouth, the user's nostrils or eyes.
- the device according to the invention protects the user from any contact of the hot wax with his hands.
- the heating temperature of the wax is regulated by a thermistor 7, there is no risk of overheating the wax which may cause burns to the skin of the user.
- the device according to the invention requires no maintenance or cleaning.
- this wax is perfectly protected inside the device against external dust and can therefore be remelted and reused.
- the magazine 2 could be adapted to contain several wax cartridges intended to be successively engaged in the conduit 4.
- the device according to the invention can be used to depilate other parts of the skin than the face.
- the apparatus according to the invention may also be used for depilating the legs, provided that its dimensions are adapted accordingly, taking into account the relatively large quantities of wax required by depilation of the legs.
- the thermistor 7 can be replaced by a conventional electrical heating resistance possibly associated with a thermostat to regulate the heating temperature of the wax.
