Die Bremsscheibe läuft in einem Drehmomentbereich, der Im Vergleich zu dem Laufradmoment um den Obersetzungsfaktor der der Zwischenwelle nachfolgenden Getriebestufen reduziert ist, und in einem um den gleichen Faktor erhöhten Drehzahlbereich. Dadurch können die Scheibe und die Bremskrafterzeugungsapparatur wesentlich verkleinert werden. Eine weitere Massenreduzierung tritt ein, sofern auf beiden Enden der Zwischenwelle des Getriebes Bremsen angeordnet werden.
