Description

The invention relates to a wheel set for rail vehicles, especially for high speeds.

In conventional wheel sets, the two wheels are firmly connected to the wheel set shaft, which is mounted directly next to the wheels. The wheelset bearings can be arranged between the wheels (inner bearing) or outside in front of the wheels (outer bearing). The distance from the center of the wheel to the center of the wheelset bearing creates a bending moment under load that builds up over this distance and is constant in the central part of the wheelset shaft. Since this bending moment alternately stresses the wheelset shaft, its corresponding dimensioning carries a considerable weight; their unsprung mass adversely contributes to increased wheel and track stress. With driven wheel sets, a continuous wheel set shaft requires a complex design of the drive device, e.g. special axle drives, hollow shaft drives, drives for electric motors.

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a wheel set in which, in particular, the unsprung masses are lower and simpler drive devices can be used.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the wheel set consists of two supporting parts, each receiving a wheel and provided with a bearing on both sides of the wheel, and an intermediate piece connecting the mutually facing ends of the supporting parts, e.g. a thin-walled spacer tube, gearbox or brake.

The limitation of the supporting parts to the area of each wheel in the wheelset according to the invention advantageously results in a substantial reduction in weight and unsprung masses and thereby better running properties and less wear on the wheel and rail. This modular set of wheels is also advantageous due to the variable design of the intermediate piece, e.g. Can be used for vehicles of different types or track widths, for bogies or motor bogies or for different braking systems. In addition, a uniform design of the batch of wheel and supporting part bearings and thus economical production is possible. Finally, there is a single wheel change, which improves maintenance and repair.

For the vehicle-side connection of this wheel set, it is provided in an embodiment according to the invention that the two bearings of each support part are connected to one another by a fork-shaped holder which engages the vehicle body or the bogie.

For radial settings of the wheel sets in operation, a further feature according to the invention provides that the two fork-shaped brackets of the wheel set are connected to one another and articulated in a fixed point arranged on the vehicle body or on the bogie in the sense of a radial adjustability of the wheel set.

A further development according to the invention is that the fork-shaped holder is designed to receive a disc brake acting on the corresponding wheel. This design of the bracket avoids any additional parts required for receiving the disc brake, which further reduces the unsprung mass acting on the wheel set.

A more compact design of the wheelset and a direct power transmission in the area of its supporting parts is achieved according to a last embodiment according to the invention in that each bearing is arranged via a spring arranged in its vertical axis against the vehicle body or components carrying it, e.g. Frame parts of a bogie is supported.
