Definitions
- the present invention relates to improvements made to the devices for opening the step of a loom for shaped fabrics and more particularly, although not exclusively, for silk fabrics.
- the improvements which are the subject of the present invention aim to allow the production of a device for controlling warp threads on a weaving loom in order to operate the opening of the pitch from information coming from perforated paper, magnetic tape or the like whose size is reduced so that it can control a very large number of heddles arranged vertically close to each other, its cost remaining fairly low.
- the invention also relates to a device of the kind in question which can be divided into modules which can be separated from one another so that if the density of wires in fabric chain is reduced it is possible to eliminate a certain number of modules without having to dismantle the whole harness.
- the heddles do not all have a vertical orientation, they are on the contrary slightly oblique but without this inclination playing an unfavorable role relative to the crowd in the open position.
- the blades associated with the beams pass through a first plate provided with bars and a second plate provided with openings, these blades each carrying a shoe and a hook, this shoe always being in abutment against the second plate so that the translation of the latter causes the beams to descend, while the bars of the first grab the hooks of the selected blades when the first plate is moved in order to lift the selected beams, means being further provided for escaping the hooks of the blades not selected.
- the shaped fabrics which one envisages to manufacture in a mechanized way are generally established starting from fine threads and delicate materials such as silk, it is necessary to reduce as much as possible the tension of these threads at the time of opening step to avoid permanent deformation.
- the lift and lower system is used, that is to say a layer of warp threads is lifted while the other threads are lowered by the same amount equal to the half height of the crowd. It is thus possible to obtain high quality shaped fabrics because the down and lift strokes being equal all the threads undergo the same tension.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a control device established in accordance with the invention in the closed crowd position.
- Fig. 2 to 6 illustrate the main operating phases of the device according to the invention, including those corresponding to a preferred variant.
- Fig. 7 is a view similar to that of FIG. 1, but showing the device in the open crowd position.
- Fig. 8 and 9 illustrate the positions of the plates for respectively leveled and oblique crowds.
- Fig. 10 to 12 correspond to fig. 4 to 6 but illustrate a variant.
- a device in the closed position of the crowd.
- This device comprises a harness composed of a number of heddles 1 in the eyelets la from each of which passes a warp thread 2.
- the upper end of each of the heddles 1 is associated with an arch 3, while its lower end is connected to the frame by means of elastic bands referenced 0 or other similar devices.
- the arches have vertical parts 3a and horizontal parts 3b thanks to the presence of return pulleys 4.
- the end of the horizontal part 3b of each arch is associated with a metal blade 5 carrying a shoe 6 and a hook 7.
- each blade opposite to that which is joined to the arch is free; but it is supported by a perforated base 8 in which the blades slide freely.
- Each of the blades still passes through a first plate 9 provided with bars 10 with the underside of which the blades are in support. The latter also pass freely through perforations 11a of a second plate 11.
- the first plate 9 is used to lift the healds 1, while the second 11 is intended to allow their lowering.
- the first plate 9 comprises actuating rods 12 guided by bearings 13 and which are articulated by one of their ends to said plate, while their opposite end is associated with a cam 14 by means of a roller 15 circulating in a groove 14a. of this cam. The latter is arranged so that by turning it causes a displacement x to the right in FIG. 1 of tray 9.
- the plate 11 is associated with operating rods 16 passing through guides 17 and one of which of the ends is articulated to the plate in question while the other carries a roller 18 which cooperates with a groove 19a formed in a cam 19.
- the rotation of the latter causes a translation y to the left of the plate 11 for reasons that will explain better later.
- x y.
- the base 8 supports electromagnets 20 disposed at the end of straight supports 21. It is arranged to give each blade a slight upward arch at the start so that it bears elastically against the underside of each bar 10.
- the operation follows from the foregoing explanations.
- the energization of a certain number of the electromagnets 20 takes place according to the selection which is obtained either from a perforated paper or from a magnetic tape or any other system.
- the blades 5 which correspond to the electromagnets 20 called are deformed downwards so that their hook 7 comes to be disposed below the bar 10 of the plate 9.
- the blades which correspond to the non-powered electromagnets remain in place.
- the synchronized rotation of the cams 14 and 19 causes, as explained above, the displacement of the plates 9 and 11 respectively to the right and to the left. I1 goes without saying that the heddles corresponding to the blades called by the electromagnets are not interested in the movement of the plate 9.
- the plate 23 is reassembled so that the blades not retained by the electromagnets return to the position illustrated in FIG. 5. Thanks to the plate 23, it is thus possible to reduce the power of the electromagnets which no longer have to perform the call for the blades but only their retention. This is also an important safety factor.
- the two plates 9 and 11 cause the pitch to open according to the selection established as illustrated in FIG. 7, in order to allow the insertion of the frame. They then resume their initial position shown in fig. 1, the step then being closed. The cycle is renewed each time with the defined selection corresponding to the designs to be obtained on the fabric. We observe that plate 23 has been shown in this figure.
- the lift 9 and drop 11 plates ensuring the movement of the elastic blades can be moved parallel to themselves as illustrated in FIG. 8 in order to obtain a leveled crowd or else they can be in their extreme position in an oblique position as illustrated in FIG. 9 which leads to an oblique crowd. It is also possible to modify the stroke of the plates to obtain variations in crowd height, for example by changing the cams 14 and 19.
- the trays have been provided vertical for accessibility reasons because this arrangement allows the user to easily change a defective blade or yoke without having to dismantle the entire harness.
- the plates in question could be provided horizontal, this position causing the removal of the pulleys 4.
- the device could be split, that is to say that the plates 9, 11, the plate 23 and the box spring 8 would be produced in the form of modules of small width mounted on slides. It would thus be possible to eliminate certain modules and the corresponding part of the harness when the density of the warp threads is reduced.
- each blade has a projection or hump 5a which abuts against the corresponding bar 10 of the first plate 9.
- the plate 11 is in its extreme position (to the right in the figures considered) it brings the bump 5a into contact with the bar 10 to press the blade against one electromagnet 20, since said plate drives the shoe 6 to the right.
- a device for opening the pitch of warp threads in a weaving loom has thus been produced, making it possible to obtain a fabric shaped with very fine patterns and which has remarkable reliability.

Abstract
The Blades (5) pass through a first plate (9) provided with bars (10) and a second plate (11) provided with perforations (11a). The blades each carry a shoe (6) and a hook (7). When the electromagnets (20) attract the blades (5) the hooks of the non-called blades are moved by the plate (9) and the hooks of the called blades follow the translation of the plate (11) to open the step by lifting and lowering of the warp threads (22). Weaving of shaped fabrics.
