Description

The invention relates to a backflow flap according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such backflow flaps were previously attached to the ventilation ducts as individual parts. They were often located on the outside of the ventilation ducts, i.e. generally attached to the outer wall of the building in the form of a plurality of flaps arranged one below the other. These flaps were exposed to weather and wind and caused wind noise. Depending on the wind, they were also opened a slot so that drafts penetrated and the intended effect of preventing a backflow against the ventilation flow was not achieved. Such backflow flaps were also not suitable for preventing insects from entering the building. On the other hand, it was not possible to install fine-meshed insect screens after the backflow flaps forming the outer end of the ventilation channels.

For many purposes, it has so far not been possible to attach backflow flaps. This applies in particular to various distribution ducts, for example Y distributors or trousers pieces, cross distributors etc. In terms of production, it has so far been practically impossible or only possible with great effort to provide backflow flaps in the individual supply air and exhaust air ducts. The result of this was that the air streams were mixed and often unwanted exhaust gases were directed to where they should not be directed. This fact has also led to strict building regulations regarding the introduction of exhaust gases from different sources into a common ventilation chimney.

There are also no suitable backflow flaps for so-called flat duct systems, which are mainly used as ventilation ducts in extractor hoods, clothes dryers and small ventilation systems as well as small ventilation systems. Such flat channels are usually about 7 to 20 cm wide and only 3 to 15 cm high. The same applies to use in flat, rectangular, flexible hoses that are used for the same purposes.

From British patent application 2 041 514 (published on September 10, 1980) a wall box is known which has internal blinds and whose cross-sectional shape is geometrically similar to a flat channel to be connected to it in all cross-sectional planes. However, this wall box cannot be inserted into flat channels, but only connected to wall openings.

A similar wall box is known from British patent specification 1 326 204, which likewise cannot be inserted into flat or square channels.

A backflow flap according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from German Offenlegungsschrift 2 901 877. This backflow flap is specially designed as a closure device with reliable gas sealing for gas lines in nuclear reactors with radioactive gases. For this purpose, a very narrow frame is provided, the surface of which has a slight inclination and the outer surfaces of which are sealed against the inner wall of the tube by means of special sealing materials. At the downstream end of this frame, a plate is arranged, which presses flat against sealing materials that are provided around the circumference of this plate.

According to the special application, after the installation of this backflow flap, there is generally no easy movement. The special attention to the sealing materials has been adapted to the special application with the high requirements for a secure seal. It should be noted that there is enough pivoting possibility for the flap, since the backflow flap itself does not provide such a pivoting space. Since only a single flap is provided, this swivel space must be particularly large. The resulting relatively large plate requires relatively large flow forces so that it can be opened at all. Overall, this backflow flap does not appear to be very suitable for use in simple house systems and ventilation ducts, such as those found in household clothes dryers and extractor hoods. The relatively low flow velocities occurring there should hardly be sufficient to open this flap. In addition, such a flap should be relatively expensive because of the high sealing effort. This is especially true because the seal has to be specially adapted to the respective channels.

The invention is based on the object of designing a backflow flap according to the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that the disadvantages of the prior art are avoided and that it is simple to produce, insertable and easy to insert into different types of ventilation channels and at different depths as an insert .

The object is achieved according to the invention by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. Further developments of the invention are presented in the subclaims.

According to the subject matter of the invention, a backflow flap has the following features:
  • a) a rectangular frame, the outer surfaces and outer limits of which are essentially flat for insertion into the ventilation ducts,
  • b) two flaps articulated inside the frame near the inlet of the vent flow and the height of which is slightly less than the depth of the frame,
  • c) stops for the lower free ends of the flaps, which prevent swinging against the ventilation flow.

Such a backflow flap can thus be inserted into any ventilation channel. If, for example, it is inserted into the outer opening of a ventilation duct attached to an outer wall of the building, the individual flaps are arranged in the interior of the frame so that they are protected from wind and weather. Rattling is avoided, as is weather impairment. It is easily possible to install an insect screen on the outer wall, even after the backflow flap.

The backflow flap according to the invention can be inserted into the ventilation channels as far as desired. If, for example, in the outermost position of the backflow flap, there is still a clattering of the flaps and thus the penetration of outside air into the interior of the building, this can easily be stopped by moving the backflow flap a little further towards the interior of the building.

It is also possible to push the backflow flap directly into a wall opening, which in this case serves as a ventilation duct, into the position within the wall opening corresponding to the circumstances and to wall it up. The advantages remain in this case.

The backflow flap according to the subject of the invention can be used particularly advantageously in various distribution channels, for example Y-shaped distribution channels. Such distribution channels are usually made of sheet metal or plastic, without the possibility of attaching backflow flaps to the respective flow-side ends of the branch channels, so that undesired mixing of the individual air streams resulted.

This can be very easily remedied by the subject matter of the invention by simply inserting a backflow flap, designed as an insert, from the open end to the end of this branch, in such a way that only passage in the desired direction is possible.

According to an embodiment of the invention, the lower inside of the frame is inclined slightly downward downstream. The purpose of this is to ensure that any liquids that come into contact with the backflow flap from the outside or condensate water that forms on them is drained outwards. It is thus possible to achieve further advantages with the subject matter of the invention, which could not be achieved by installing flaps arranged one above the other on the outer wall of the building.

The two flaps are arranged one above the other and conveniently articulated on the side walls of the frame. The upper edge of the lower backflow flap serves as a stop for the free end of the upper backflow flap. The arrangement of two backflow flaps one above the other has proven to be particularly expedient in the usual dimensions of backflow flaps, the width of such flaps being approximately 1 m to 1.5 m and the height approximately 50 cm to 1 m. The fact that the individual flaps should remain within the frame even when fully pivoted out, the length of the individual flaps results in the necessary depth of the frame.

Metal sheet, for example galvanized sheet metal, or plastic such as polypropylene is expediently used as the material for the backflow flap.

  • Fig. 2 eine Rückstauklappe gemäss Fig. 1 im Schnitt,
  • Fig. 3 eine Rückstauklappe von oben im Schnitt.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. It shows:
  • 1 is a view of the backflow flap from behind,
  • 2 shows a backflow flap according to FIG. 1 in section,
  • Fig. 3 shows a backflow valve from above in section.

The backflow flap is generally designated 1. It has a rectangular frame 2. In this frame 2, two flaps 3 and 4 are arranged one above the other. These flaps are hinged to the side walls 6 and 7 of the frame 2. The upper edge of the lower flap 4 also serves as a stop 9 for the free end of the upper flap 3. For the free end of the lower flap 4, two stops 8 provided inside the frame 2 serve as a stop.

The direction of flow through the backflow flap is indicated in FIG. 2 by arrows.
