Description

The invention relates to a contact spring for ribbon cable connection with a U-shaped base part and two protruding at right angles from the U-legs of the base part, together forming a contact spring contact for a contact pin or a contact blade contact spring legs, which are in a channel-like cavity of a contact spring strip with transverse to the course of the cavity-directed base part and with the contact spring legs can be used in advance and with one of the two U-legs of the base part opposite to the course of the contact spring legs, protruding from the contact spring strip and forming an insulation displacement contact for a wire-shaped contact contact pair, according to patent 26 07 693.

Such a contact spring is known from DE-PS 26 07 693.

In order to ensure a secure fit of the contact spring in the cavity of a contact spring strip with this contact spring, it is necessary to dimension the U-legs of the base part relatively long. This contact spring is therefore less suitable for a connection technique in which the distances between the individual conductors of a ribbon cable are relatively small.

The object of the present invention is therefore to develop a contact spring of the type mentioned in such a way that it can still be arranged in a reliable manner in the cavity of a contact spring strip with a simple construction, even if the contact grid between the individual contact springs of the strip only allows relatively small distances.

According to the invention this object is achieved in that the U-legs of the base part are of unequal length, that the contact spring leg protruding from the longer U-leg is designed as a rigid plate with a width corresponding to the length of the U-leg and that resilient contact spring leg protruding from the shorter U-leg has a width which is less than half the width of the rigid plate, that the resilient contact spring leg is arranged approximately centrally to the rigid plate, and at its free end with one of the free end of the U- Leg directed away, but set back from the edge of the rigid plate, the contact spring leg widened approach is provided.

This design of the contact spring ensures, despite the relatively shorter design of the U-legs, a safe transmission of the forces which occur when contacting a ribbon cable single-cell conductor to the contact spring strip, because in particular the portion of the rigid plate lying outside the projection of the resilient contact spring leg uncomplicatedly corresponds to this portion dimensioned pocket of the contact spring strip can be inserted and thereby a stable positive connection between the contact spring and the strip housing is made possible.

Further refinements of the invention provide that a free cut is provided between the part of the longer U-leg which runs curved at the root and the rigid plate, as a result of which the rigid plate can be made flat in maximum width, since it does not work because of the connection area between the two U's -Legs of the base part curved course of the U-legs must also be curved in this area; that the rigid plate has an incision at its free end for separating a flat portion lying essentially outside the projection of the resilient contact spring leg on the rigid plate and a part interacting with the resilient contact spring leg, which is bent towards the end at the other end, whereby at least on free end of the portion of the rigid plate which interacts with the resilient contact spring leg, a section suitable for contacting with a contact pin or contact knife is created to form an insertion funnel.

Finally, it can be provided in the context of the present invention that the flat portion of the rigid plate is provided with wart-like projections and that the contact slot, which is limited by the contact cutting edges and forms the insulation displacement contact, is offset with respect to the contact spring contact formed by the contact spring legs.

In this way, the part of the rigid plate which can be pushed into the pocket of the strip housing is held in the pocket, since the wart-like projections press into the plastic mass of the strip housing, but the impressions caused by the projections when pushed in are in the latter Only partially protrude projections that have been swept over again so that the projections lock themselves automatically in the strip housing.

The transverse offset of the contact slot in relation to the contact gap of the contact spring makes it possible to implement a rectangular contact grid on the side of the contact spring leg contacts, because if e.g. the degree of dislocation, equal to a quarter of the grid spacing of this contact grid, and the contact springs arranged in two rows with contact spring legs interchanged in one row with the contact springs of the other row, the contact spring strip naturally having to be designed in such a way that it accommodates the partial area of the Rigid plate provided housing-side pockets are each in the right place, the contact slots of corresponding contact springs of the two rows are shifted to one side by a quarter of the pitch on one side and by a quarter of the pitch to the other side of the other contact spring , so that for a ribbon cable with half the pitch of the contact spring contacts formed by the contact spring legs of the contact springs adjacent individual conductors, only a single conductor is detected by a contact slot of a contact spring.

An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to three figures. Here, each greatly enlarged, the
  • 1 and 2, the contact spring in side view, once with a direction of view transverse to the U-legs of the base part and once with a direction of view parallel to these and
  • Fig. 3 is a top view of a contact spring inserted into a plastic contact spring strip with a strip housing shown in section.

In detail, it can be seen from the figures that the contact spring made of flat material has a U-shaped base part 2. whose U-legs 30, 31 are directed at right angles to the insertion direction of a contact knife or contact pin, which or which is to be connected to the contact spring.

The two U-legs. 30, 31 of the base part 2 are of unequal length and the longer U-leg 30 merges in the direction of insertion of a contact knife or contact pin into a contact spring leg designed as a rigid plate 3a, the width of which corresponds to the length of the U-leg 30 corresponds. In order to be able to design the rigid plate 3 a completely flat, regardless of the U-leg 30 that runs curved during the transition into the cross-piece 41 of the base part 2, and the plate extends over the entire width, which is determined by the length of the U-leg 30 , to extend, a cutout 35 is provided between the base part 2 and the plate 3a, which separates the curved region of the U-leg 30 from the plate 3a.

In contrast to the plate 3a, the U-leg 30 has two contact cutting edges 16 which delimit a contact slot 17 between them, into which a wire-shaped conductor with a course directed transversely to the slot 17 can be pressed. The contact cutting edges 16 resiliently lay against the conductor and connect it to the contact spring. The crosspiece 41 of the base part 2 is formed on the side of the pair of contact blades 16, i.e. on the side facing away from the contact spring legs, wider than the shorter U-leg 31. With this widened crosspiece 41, the contact spring can be supported in the insertion direction on a cover closing the contact spring strip cavities, which after Inserting the contact springs is connected to the contact strip.

The other shorter U-leg 31 of the base part 2 is in one piece with a spring-elastic contact spring leg 3b, the width of which is less than half the width of the plate 3a. In addition, the contact spring leg 3b is arranged approximately centrally to the plate 3a.

At its free end 32, the contact spring leg 3b has a projection 34 which widens the contact spring leg 3b on one side and runs opposite to the U-leg 31, but does not extend to the edge of the rigid plate 3a.

In this way, on the side of the contact spring leg 3b facing away from the shoulder 34, a partial region 38 of the plate 3a protrudes laterally beyond this contact spring leg. This portion of the plate 3a lying outside the projection of the contact spring leg 3b on the plate 3a is separated at the free end 36 of the plate 3a by an incision 37 from a portion 39 of the plate 3a lying opposite the shoulder 34 of the contact spring leg 3b. In this way, the free end 36 of the portion 39 can be bent in the direction of the free end 32 of the contact spring leg 3b and therefore together with this also curved free end 32 den Form contact spring contact 4, in which the contact knife or the contact pin is inserted for the purpose of establishing an electrical connection between a contact knife or contact pin and the contact spring.

The incision 37 also makes it possible to let the partial area 38 of the contact spring leg 3a run completely flat, so that it can be inserted into a suitably designed housing pocket (FIG. 3) 42 of the contact spring strip 43. The wart-like projections 40 provided in the partial area 38 press into the plastic mass of the strip 43 and thus fix the contact spring inserted into the strip housing so that it cannot fall out of the housing again. The pocket 42 is closed at the top, that is to say in FIG. 3 toward the viewer, so that a stop is formed when the contact spring is inserted into an associated cavity of the contact spring strip with the contact spring legs 3a and 3b in advance. which limits the insertion depth of the contact spring against the direction of insertion of a contact knife or contact pin into the contact spring and thereby also supports the contact spring when a single conductor is pressed into the contact slot 17. In addition, since the resilient contact spring leg 3b does not protrude as far as the rigid plate 3a, the resilient leg 3b always remains movable, in other words, digging the free end 32 of the resilient leg 3b into the plastic mass of the contact spring strip is thereby reliably prevented .

One provided to form the pocket 42 between the rigid plate 3a and the resilient leg 3b Pocket wall 44 (FIG. 3) advantageously also serves for the pre-centering and pre-opening of the contact spring leg 3 b, which is supported on this wall 44. In this way, the force required for inserting a contact knife or contact pin is reduced and the risk of rear insertion, ie the missing of the space between rigid plate 3a and contact spring leg 3b, is substantially reduced by a contact knife or contact pin.

As shown in FIG. 3 in particular, the U-shaped base part, together with the contact spring leg 3a designed as a rigid plate, forms a rigid part of the contact spring which is enclosed by walls of the strip housing and which fully guarantees the reliable position of the contact spring in the cavity of the strip housing 43 facing it .

From Fig. 1 it can be seen that the contact slot 17 for receiving a single conductor is transversely offset from the contact spring contact 4 formed by the portion 39 and the contact spring leg 3b. This transverse offset, which e.g. a quarter of the grid spacing of the contact pins or contact knives from each other, which are to be connected to the contact springs of the strip, enables a single conductor of a ribbon cable to be detected by only one contact slot 17, that is to say only by one contact spring, if one in the case of a two-row arrangement of the contact springs in the strip housing, the contact springs of the one row with contact spring legs 3a, 3b which are interchanged with the contact springs of the other row are arranged, the cavities for receiving the contact springs of course having to be designed in a corresponding manner.
