Description

The invention relates to a dressing tool for machining abrasive bodies by means of a rotating dressing roller or a linearly moving dressing block and a plurality of projections arranged one after the other in the cutting direction on the circumference of the dressing roller or on an edge of the dressing block, the cutting plates preferably made of polycrystalline synthetic diamond, wear cubic crystalline boron nitride, hard metal or ceramic, which partly overlap to form the profile of the dressing tool, as is known for example from DE-A-2 238 387. In the known dressing tool, the cutting plates have the same shape and are arranged as perfectly as possible on the tool. This is to ensure that each individual cutting edge of the cutting plates from the workpiece to be machined only removes a relatively small, precisely predictable chip size. However, only dressing tools with a relatively simply shaped geometric dressing profile can be produced in this way.

In the dressing tool known from US-A-2 088 084, a plurality of uniformly shaped cutting plates made of metal carbides are provided which are uniformly distributed over the circumference of a dressing roller. The above limitation to simple geometric profiles also applies here.

Dressing tools for complicated profiles are in the VDI magazine volume 120, No. 24, December 1978, by H.-R. Meyer under the title «Diamond and CBN tools for machining tasks in mechanical engineering on pages 85 to 95. Accordingly, diamond dressing rolls with complicated profiles can only be produced in a galvanically bound version with a stochastically distributed surface finish, but this means that the advantages which can be achieved with generic dressing tools as a result of the definable arrangement of cutting plates are eliminated.

The processing of diamonds, which must be graphitized on the surface for this purpose, by means of spark erosion in a dielectric is known, for example, from US Pat. No. 2,939,941. Processing of cutting materials which contain diamonds or cubic boron nitride by means of lasers is described in EP-A1 0 009 315. In this way, the generic cutting plates can be produced.

The object of the invention is to develop the generic dressing tool in such a way that it can have a complicated dressing profile.

The object is achieved according to the invention in that the cutting plates have at least two different successive projections in the cutting direction. There is the advantage that, due to the different profiling of the cutting plates, an optimal arrangement with regard to minimizing the risk of breakage is possible; in addition, it is easy to replace individual inserts.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims. Thus, the cutting plates can be obtained in a particularly simple manner by means of coating a base body having the desired profile, but it is also possible to use commercially available polycrystalline synthetic diamond plates. These are obtained, for example, in the form of circular disks 1.5 or 3.2 mm thick and 13.7 mm in diameter and can then be used by means of spark erosion or by means of an electron or laser beam or a hot oxygen beam or by grinding or shaping, for example by pressing to be edited. In this way, the excellent cutting properties of such cutting inserts can be used. Reworking is possible without difficulty since the profiled cutting plates can be re-profiled and, if necessary, replaced.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of exemplary embodiments shown in the drawings.

  • 2 shows the dressing tool according to FIG. 1 in plan view,
  • Figure 3 shows a dressing block in side view and

Selbstverständlich kann ein anderer Schneidstoff als polykristalliner synthetischer Diamant Verwendung finden und auch unmittelbar auf den Brustflächen angeordnet sein.1 shows a dressing roller 10 according to the invention, which consists of a base or shaft body 12 which has eight segments 14 in the exemplary embodiment. Tungsten carbide plates 16 are arranged on the chest surfaces of the segments 14. A carrier material 20, which serves to hold profiled cutting plates 18 polycrystalline synthetic diamonds, is fastened to these in the head region. The carrier material 20 is preferably in the form of a hard metal base. Of course, a cutting material other than polycrystalline synthetic diamond can be used and can also be arranged directly on the chest surfaces.

As illustrated in the drawing embodiment of FIG. 2, often more than one cutting plate made of diamond 18 (filled surface) is arranged on a chest surface of a segment 14 in order to provide a desired profile. So that the shock between the cutting plates 18 made of synthetic diamond when dressing grinding wheels the geo metric accuracy is not affected, that is, for example, the impact does not lead to an undesirable depression or elevation on the grinding wheel, the cutting plates 18 are arranged on successive segments 14 offset from one another. This results in an overlap in the joint area when the dressing roller rotates, so that extremely precise geometric accuracy of the grinding wheel is still guaranteed. As illustrated in FIG. 2, two cutting plates 18 made of synthetic diamond are arranged on a segment 22, whereas only a single cutting plate 18 is provided on the following segment 24, which is exactly in the joint area of the cutting plate 18 of the preceding segment 22 is arranged.

Although a simple profile formed by the cutting plates 18 is shown in the exemplary embodiment, this can of course have any shape. In order to carry out a corresponding processing of diamond plates to produce a desired profile, the diamond plates can be produced by means of spark erosion or by means of an electron or laser beam or a hot oxygen jet and correspondingly high-pressure water or by grinding or shaping z. B. processed by pressing. This ensures a high precision of the profiles of the diamond cutting plates 18, so that when the dressing tool 10 is used, a grinding wheel work surface is made available which is not only characterized by geometrical accuracy, but also by an extremely high sharpness which leads to a leads to longer service life.

In order to remove in a simple manner the abraded abrasive grains and metal particles that have been removed when machining a grinding wheel, a chip chamber 26 is provided in front of the teeth 14, into which the corresponding parts can be accommodated. Complex removal of the corresponding particles is not necessary, as is the case when using known dressing tools with continuous dressing rollers provided with surfaces with diamond grains.

Die Vorsprünge 32 können dabei integraler Bestandteil des Grundkörpers 28 oder auf diesen befestigt sein.3 shows a side view of a dressing block 30 which has projections 32, on the breast surfaces of which cutting plates 34 are arranged. The cutting plates 34 are hard or superhard materials which consist of a compact unit in the form of finished profiled plates or of base bodies coated with the cutting materials. The projections 32 can be an integral part of the base body 28 or can be fastened thereon.

Wie bei der Abrichtrolle 10 befinden sich auch beim Abrichtblock 28 Spankammern 36 vor den Vorsprüngen.3, profiled cutting inserts made of polycrystalline synthetic diamond are used, which in turn are connected to the base body 28 by means of a carrier material (which at the same time forms the projections). As with the dressing roller 10, there are also chip chambers 36 in front of the projections in the dressing block 28.

In Fig. 4 ist eine Vorderansicht des erfindungsgemäßen Abrichtblockes 30 dargestellt und verdeutlicht, daß die Profilfläche eines Vorsprunges aus mehreren bearbeiteten Schneid-Platten harten oder überharte'n Materials zusammengesetzt ist.4 shows a front view of the dressing block 30 according to the invention and clarifies that the profile surface of a projection is composed of a plurality of machined cutting plates made of hard or hard material.

The further advantage that reworking is possible without difficulty, since the profiled cutting plates arranged on the chest surfaces can be re-profiled and, if necessary, replaced, is therefore given both in the dressing roller and in the dressing block.
