Die Funktion der Einrichtung ist folgende: Die durch die Federtöpfe 9,9' gespreizten Stahlbänder 8, 8' gelangen mit den Rollen 3 der Rollenbahnen 1,2 in Kontakt, wobei nach Überwindung des Lagerspieles der Rollen 3 diese, sofern sie nicht stekken, durch Durchziehen der Einrichtung 4 zwischen den Rollenbahnen 1, 2 gedreht werden. Die Rollenumfangsgeschwindigkeit entspricht dabei der Transportgeschwindigkeit des Tragkörpers 7. Das federnd gegen die Rollen 3 gepresste Reibrad 18 führt, sofern sich die Rollen drehen, bei Kontakt mit den Rollen keine Relativbewegung gegenüber dem Tragkörper 7 aus, da der Umfang des Reibrades 18 mit der Transportgeschwindigkeit des Tragkörpers 7 an den Rollen 3 vorbeibewegt wird. Das Reibrad 18 wird lediglich aus seiner über das Stahlband 8 vorstehenden Position zurückgedrückt, bis der Umfang des Reibrades 18 mit dem Stahlband 8, das mit den Mantelflächen der Rollen 3 in Kontakt steht, fluchtet. Gelangt das Reibrad mit einer steckengebliebenen bzw. nur erschwert drehbaren Rolle 3 in Kontakt - bei einer solchen Rolle kommt es zu einer Gleitbewegung zwischen der Kontaktfläche 23 des Stahlbandes 8 und der oberfläche der Rolle - wird das Reibrad 18 in Drehung versetzt und der elektrische Kontakt 22 geschlossen. Das Schliessen des elektrischen Kontaktes wird dazu genützt, ein Signal an ein Registriergerät zu leiten, welches beispielsweise in einem an der Einrichtung 4 montierten Kasten 24 untergebracht ist. Mit Hilfe drahtloser Übermittlung der Signale wäre es auch möglich, das Registriergerät, unabhängig vom Tragkörper 7, beispielsweise an einem ortsfesten Kontrollstand anzuordnen. Wenn das Registriergerät zusätzlich zu jedem Signal auch die jeweilige Lage des Tragkörpers innerhalb der Rollenbahnen erfasst, so kann man unmittelbar die Lage der steckengebliebenen Rollen feststellen. Die Lage einer steckenden Rolle kann in Verbindung mit einem über das Stahlband herausragenden, axial beweglichen Taststift 25 festgehalten werden, der von jeder Strangführungsrolle 3, an der er vorbeiwandert, niedergedrückt wird und dabei ein Signal aulöst.
