Abstract

The device consists of a guide frame which possesses the same radius of curvature (RC) as the mould-outlet and the path between the guide and support rolls; a trolley is located on, and moves along, the frame, the trolley contg. electronic measuring devices which indicate the position of the rolls and thus the gap, w.r.t. a desired value, a driving mechanism being provided for the trolley. A threaded spindle, motor and guide rods control the position of the trolley, on which two differential transformer transducers are mounted for measuring the inner RC and the outer RC respectively. Compressed-air cylinders on both ends of the frame control its position in the roll-gap. Gives rapid, accurate measurement where a servo-unit can be used to adjust the actual roll-location to the desired position.
