Description

It is known that washed textiles, especially those made from cellulose fibers, have an unpleasant hardening after drying. This is particularly the case when the laundry is done in the washing machine. This undesirable hardening of the handle can be eliminated by treating the textiles after washing in a rinsing bath with cationic substances which contain at least two long-chain aliphatic residues in the molecule. In practice, the water-dispersible dialkyldimethylammonium salts have been introduced for this purpose. However, these products have the disadvantage that the treated tissue becomes hydrophobic when overdosed and the rewettability is thereby delayed.

The invention thus relates to fabric softeners in the form of an aqueous solution or dispersion which comprise 1 to 15, preferably 2 to 6% by weight of one or more compounds of the formulas 1 to III

This combination of compounds I, II and III with a compound of formula IV gives any textile materials, especially those made from natural or regenerated cellulose, wool, cellulose acetate, triacetate, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, polyester, polypropylene, a pleasant and soft feel. The use as a laundry aftertreatment for terry and underwear made of cotton is particularly advantageous. These fabric softeners are produced by simply mixing or dispersing the individual components in water. This fabric softener according to the invention can either only one compound of the formulas I to III contain or they contain a mixture of two or more compounds of these formulas to III within the specified limits. If a mixture of two or more compounds of the formulas I to 111 is present, their mixing ratio with one another is completely uncritical and can have any value.

In addition, the fabric softener according to the invention may also contain other substances and auxiliaries which are either already mixed in the concentrate of the fabric softener or added separately to the ready-to-use, diluted fabric softener. These are substances or auxiliaries that have already been used in fabric softeners, such as. B. electrolytes, acidulants, organic complexing agents, optical brighteners or solvents as well as colors and fragrances. They are used to additionally influence the handle of the goods or other properties of the textiles to be treated or to adjust the viscosity, to regulate the pH or to increase the stability at low temperatures.

These fabric softeners are used as usual by adding them to the last rinse water after the textile wash. The textile material treated in this way is then dried, the rewettability of the textile material being significantly improved compared to commercially available agents.

The following examples describe some fabric softening agents according to the invention. Percentages are percentages by weight in all cases. These fabric softeners are produced in all cases by simply stirring in the cold of aqueous solutions of the individual components.
