Abstract

The invention relates to a buckle for a seat belt, which contains two pivot bolts (9) in a symmetrical arrangement, which cooperate with opposing indentations (11) of the insertion tongue (7). In order to ensure that both swivel bolts always engage together in the indentations of the insertion tongue, the swivel bolts are connected to one another by a gear arrangement for common movement. This gear arrangement can be formed by two levers (12, 13), each of which is connected to a pivot bolt (9) and the ends of which are connected to one another for common movement.

Description

The invention relates to a buckle for a seat belt, consisting of an insertion tongue with two symmetrically laterally arranged indentations and a lock for receiving the insertion tongue in a guide channel formed between two lock plates, which has on its two narrow sides pivot bolts for engaging in the indentations of the insertion tongue which are held pivotably in sections of the lock plates.

In a known buckle of this type (DE-OS 26 5o 498), the two swivel bolts are movable independently of one another. This has the disadvantage that cases are conceivable in which only one of the two latches engages in the insertion tongue, while the other remains unlocked. This can happen, for example, if the insertion tongue is only pushed so far into the lock that only one of the two bolts can snap into the corresponding indentation, while the other cannot yet engage. This then leads to inadequate securing of the insertion tongue in the lock.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a buckle of this type which ensures the secure locking of both swivel bolts.

The solution according to the invention is that the swivel bolts are connected to one another by a gear arrangement for common movement. It preferably consists of two levers, which are arranged in a rotationally fixed manner at the ends of the swivel bolts and extend towards one another and interlock positively at their ends, by one lever embracing the end of the other. If it should happen that the tongue is not pushed in so far that both bolts engage, the transmission connection according to the invention ensures that the bolt that was first reached by a tongue indentation does not engage. Since neither of the two bars then holds the tongue, the user cannot be faked for proper locking, although perhaps only one of the two bars actually gripped.

The solution according to the invention is surprisingly simple and inexpensive, because in each case a pressed part for bolt actuation must be placed on the bolt ends anyway. The bolts are therefore expediently formed by these pressed parts, which on the other hand each have a lever extending essentially in the longitudinal direction of the lock, with the ends of which cooperate with an opening wedge.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. In it show:
  • 1 shows a longitudinal section through the buckle between the lock plates,
  • 2 a section parallel to FIG. 1 outside a lock plate,
  • Fig. 3 is a similar to Fig. 2, slightly outward cut, and
  • Fig. 4 is a side view of the lock corresponding to Figs. 1-3 in the viewing direction.

The buckle consists of the lock 1 and the insertion tongue 2. With a fastening part 3, which in turn is anchored to the vehicle body via a rope, two identically designed lock plates 4 are firmly connected parallel to one another, of which the lower one in FIG. 1 and in FIG 2 the upper one appears. They are held in a certain distance from each other by the fastening part 3 and by protrusions 6 of a housing 5 which penetrate between the plates 4 and which surrounds the lock. This distance is chosen so that the space formed between the plates is little more than the insertion tongue 2 is thick, so that the insertion part 7 of the tongue 2 is safely but easily guided between the plates. The projections 6 of the lock housing also form guide surfaces 26 on the narrow sides of the guide channel formed between the plates 4 for the insertion of the tongue 2. These guide surfaces interact with the edges of the insertion part 7 of the tongue 2. In cutouts 8, which are provided in alignment and symmetrical to the central plane of the lock in both plates, a pivot bolt 9 is held in each case. Each pivot bolt is supported at its end appearing on the right in FIG. 1 in the associated cutouts. The left part of the cutouts is designed to be wide enough to allow the pivot bolt to pivot into and out of the tongue indentation. It rotates around the point of contact of its right end with the associated supporting surface of the cutouts 8. The point of contact or pivot center is indicated at 18 and 19 in FIG. 2.

At its left end, each swivel bar forms an end face for cooperation with the insertion tongue. The swivel bolts 9 are pushed inwards by a spring 10 in the guide channel in order to snap into indentations 11 in the insertion tongue 2. In this respect, the device can be regarded as known.

In Fig. 2 one looks at the outside of a lock plate 4 and at the ends of the swivel bar 9 passing through this plate. The pressing part 12 forms a lever arm 14 extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the lock. This extends from the pressing part 13 towards a lever arm 15. The lever arm 14 is mouth-shaped at its end 16 and suitably includes a head 17 formed at the end of the other lever 15. When the upper pivot bolt is rotated clockwise in Fig. 2, the end 16 of the lever 14 moves to the left, taking the end 17 of the lever 15 with it and thereby rotates the lower pivot bolt counterclockwise and vice versa. The swivel bolts can therefore only move inwards into the indentations of the insertion tongue when the tongue 2 is inserted under the action of the spring 10 when they have both reached the indentation assigned to them.

The pressing parts 12, 13 are extended to the left in the longitudinal direction of the lock. They are flat and carry transversely to the level of the lock plates 4 protruding projections 22, 23, between which there is an opening wedge 24 (FIG. 3) which extends in a plane above the main extent of the pressing parts 12, 13. If the opening wedge 24 is pressed to the left by pressure on its handle 25 in the direction of the arrow, the projections 22, 23 are spread apart, as a result of which the pivot bolts 9 are pivoted into the open position.
