Description

The invention relates to a threshold, in particular for a window or a door with a weather bar, to which a weather bar extension is attached in a known manner. The structural conditions require weather bars of different widths. This applies in particular if a roller shutter or the like is provided on the window or door, which is to stand on the threshold. In order to be able to meet customer requirements, thresholds with weather bars of different widths were alternatively offered. From an economic point of view, however, this is impractical and, if nothing else, leads to an increase in price, because smaller series are needed for the individual sizes than would be the case if only one size was produced.

A threshold of the type mentioned at the outset has already become known (US-A-2826282). Although it can be set to various weatherboard widths within the scope of the options provided for this purpose, the weatherboard extension must always be used. The latter is angled down at its free end and this bend is bent over again in the same sense so that the free end can be placed on the base of the threshold. This double bending has the disadvantage, however, that running water can flow against this substructure instead of dripping and thereby keep it moist for a long time.

In another known threshold of this type, in particular for windows (DE-U-6 909 549), it is considered disadvantageous that it too can only be used in connection with its weatherstrip extension. In addition, due to the proposed connection of the weather leg and weather leg extension at the transition from the former to the latter, a shoulder is formed where dirt can settle and which is also disadvantageous from a visual point of view. In connection with windows, however, aesthetic aspects also play an important role. In order to secure the weatherstrip extension against shifting and also to prevent dirt from penetrating into the holding slot for the fastening leg of the weatherstrip extension, one has to seal it there with silicone or the like, which requires an additional expensive operation and often increases the visual impairment. In addition, this sealant can make it difficult for the water to drain if it protrudes upwards.

Also in US-A-2 826 282, a step-like step with the disadvantages mentioned arises at the transition from the weather bar to the weather bar extension.

The object of the invention is therefore to develop a threshold of the type mentioned in such a way that it can flow off freely, in particular in a targeted manner, both when used with and without a weatherstrip extension.

To achieve this object, it is proposed according to the invention that, in the case of a threshold of the type mentioned at the beginning, the weatherstrip has a drip nose at its free end and the weatherstrip extension is pushed onto the drip nose, latched or snapped onto it, or is similarly fastened to it without screws, with the weatherstrip extension being attached runs flush with the cover plate of the weatherboard. Due to this flush course, the water flows unhindered from the surface of the weatherboard, that is, from its cover plate onto the weatherboard extension, even when the weatherstrip extension is attached, and is then drained off in a targeted manner via its drip nose. However, because the weatherstrip also has a drip nose at its free end, the water can drip from there even if no weatherstrip extension is attached. On the other hand, the drip nose of the weatherboard enables the weatherstrip extension to be attached flush, so that, in contrast to the previously known thresholds at the transition from the weatherboard to the weatherboard extension, the disadvantageous paragraph is eliminated. The latter is caused by the fact that, in the case of the known sleepers, the weatherboard extension is inserted into an open-edge receiving slot which extends in the longitudinal direction of the sleepers cover plate. A fastening element projecting downwards, as is provided by the drip nose in the present threshold, is missing there.

A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that a retaining web is attached, in particular molded, to the drip nose to form a cross-sectionally U-shaped fastening groove, which is engaged by a counter-web or a shoulder of the weatherstrip extension, and that the weatherstrip extension is also on the outer surface of the drip nose is supported. Because of this external support, a secure interlocking of the retaining web and counter-web is guaranteed. The connection can be made, for example, by sliding the weatherstrip extension in the longitudinal direction onto the drip nose of the threshold.

Another fastening of the weatherstrip extension, comparable to a push-on operation, is possible if, according to a further embodiment of the invention, into a gap between the outer surface of the drip nose and the preferably approximately parallel surface of a strip of an especially U-shaped fastening rail of the weatherstrip extension an essentially strip-shaped intermediate member is inserted. The retaining web of the threshold and the counterpart of the weatherstrip extension are dimensioned and arranged in such a way that the weatherstrip extension can be plugged onto the drip nose, so to speak, from below. Subsequently, the holding web and the counter web are then hooked, so that the gap for inserting the intermediate member is created. The latter is elastic enough on the one hand to be able to be pressed into the gap space, but on the other hand so stiff that the hooking of the retaining web and counter-web is permanently ensured by its pressure force exerted on the gap side walls. It is particularly advantageous if the intermediate member is a press-in or roll-in sealing profile. On the one hand it ensures that no liquid, but also no dirt can enter the gap between the threshold and the weatherstrip extension, and on the other hand it is able to exert the necessary pretensioning force on the hooked connection of the threshold and the weatherstrip extension.

An advantageous further development of the invention consists in that a fastening leg which engages under the weather leg extension is connected to the fastening rail of the weather leg extension and transmits the loads which are exerted on the weather leg extension from below to the threshold and ensures a stiffening in this area.

The weatherstrip extension advantageously has a drip nose. Another embodiment of the invention is characterized by a one-piece production of the threshold, in particular as an extruded profile with a running rail. This eliminates the separate manufacture and fastening of the running rail to the threshold. On the other hand, the threshold can be designed in two parts to form a so-called isolated construction. The part of the threshold that faces the interior of the room consists of a material of lower conductivity than the rest of the, usually much larger, part of the threshold, which, like the exemplary embodiment, consists of an aluminum profile. This prevents both the formation of condensation inside the room and the creation of a cold bridge to the outside. In the case of an insulating construction, the running rail is expediently manufactured separately and mounted on the floor sill part, for example made of plastic, with lower thermal conductivity.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown.

Show it :
  • FIG. 1 shows an exploded view of the threshold with the weatherstrip extension and the intermediate link,
  • FIG. 2 shows a broken view of the assembled parts of FIG. 1.

The threshold 1 is preferably made in one piece with a running rail 2 and can be produced in particular from aluminum using the extrusion process. If one disregards the running rail 2, the threshold is an essentially U-shaped profile with a cover plate 3 and the two side webs 4 and 5. At the free ends of the latter there is a latching receptacle 6 and 7, respectively The latter serve to receive a strip-shaped latching element of one or more stiffeners, which are arranged in an extension of one another and connect the free ends of the side webs 4 and 5, for example.

The cover plate 3 extends in the installed position and with vertical side webs 4 and 5 slightly inclined towards the outside. It is extended to the outside by a weather bar 8. A strip-shaped, downwardly extending drip nose 9 is formed on the free longitudinal edge of the weather leg 8. At its free end there is a retaining web 10. The latter, the drip nose 9 and the outer longitudinal edge of the weather leg 8 together form a fastening groove 11, which is preferably approximately U-shaped in cross section, for a weather leg extension 12.

In der Montageendlage (Fig. 2) untergreift er den Wetterschenkel 8.The retaining web 10 is gripped by a shoulder or a counter web 13 of the weather bar extension in the final assembly position. This counter web projects into the inside of a cross-sectionally approximately U-shaped fastening rail 14 of the weather rail extension 12. It is integrally formed on the side web 15 of the fastening rail 14 and extends substantially parallel to the weather rail extension 12. The latter is otherwise of a plate-like shape and runs in the final assembly position exactly in the extension of the weather bar 8 or the cover plate 3 of the threshold 1. A downwardly projecting drip nose 16 is attached to the free end of the weather bar extension 12. A particularly angular support leg 17 extends at right angles to the side web 15 of the fastening rail 14. In the final assembly position (FIG. 2), it engages under the weather leg 8.

The weatherstrip extension 12 with the above-mentioned parts made in one piece with it is pushed in the direction of arrow 18 from below onto the drip nose 9 of the threshold 1. When the thickened end 19 of the support leg 17 has hit the lower surface 20 of the weather leg 8, the weather forecastle extension 12 is displaced with respect to the threshold 1 in the direction of arrow 21 until the retaining web 10 and the counter web 13 hook together in the manner shown in FIG. 2 are. The drip nose 9 and the leg 22 of the fastening rail 14 then form a gap 23 which is delimited at the bottom by the transverse web 24 of the fastening rail 14. In this gap 23 is a stripe-shaped from above in the direction of arrow 25 ges intermediate member 26 inserted or pressed. In the exemplary embodiment, it consists of a strip 28 thickened at its upper end 27. In the same direction as the thickened end, two spaced-apart sealing lips 29 and 30 also extend. The sealing profile can be made of plastic, for example, and it closes the gap 23 flush with the upward-facing surfaces 33 and 32 of the threshold 1 or the weatherboard extension 12. Pressing in the intermediate member 26 creates a compressive force on the inner walls of the side web 15 and the leg 22 of the fastening rail 14, which presses the counter web 13 against the inner surface of the drip nose 9 and thus secures the hooking of the retaining web 10 and the counter web 13. Thus, the weather bar extension 12 in the exemplary embodiment is supported indirectly via the intermediate member 26 on the outer surface 31 of the drip nose 9.
