Definitions

  • the invention relates to a clamping device for a continuously adjustable backrest part in the backrest of a seat or chair, in particular for the headrest of a dental patient chair, with a displaceably guided in a frame of the backrest for the backrest part and with at least one by frictional force with the Supporting rod engaged and this in each adjustment position holding clamping member which contains a plurality of resilient elements which bear with a biasing force on a surface of the support rod and along. which slides the support rod when moving, the biasing force of the elements is selected so that the support rod is on the one hand fixed in any set position of the backrest against displacement and on the other hand can be moved using an external force acting in the direction of displacement.
  • the guide for the support rod has sloping plates at both ends, which together form a surface of the support rod in V-shaped sections into which cylindrical clamping bodies are inserted.
  • the clamping force is determined on the one hand by the slope of the plates and on the other hand by the force of tension springs that hold the clamping body in the v-shaped sections.
  • a disadvantage of such a construction is that the clamping bodies can undesirably "wedge" in the inclined sections, that is to say there is no uniform clamping force, that the device contains a relatively large number of individual parts and that it also requires a relatively large installation depth.
  • the support rod has a plurality of sawtooth-shaped notches into which a latching element arranged on the backrest frame engages.
  • a disadvantage of this design is that the support rod can only be locked at fixed intervals, so no infinitely variable adjustment is possible, and that for unlatching it is necessary to tilt the support rod transversely to the direction of displacement against a spring force.
  • the headrest can therefore only be adjusted when there is complete relief and there is sufficient free space between the headrest and the head of a person in the chair, which allows the headrest to be raised briefly to the front.
  • the headrest can only be adjusted when there is complete relief and when there is sufficient space between the headrest and the head.
  • Another disadvantage is the fact that the friction elements no longer have to apply the required frictional force due to their wear and have to be readjusted.
  • the arrangement of the spring element and the friction elements also requires a relatively large amount of space, in particular in the installation depth, since each acts on the wide side surfaces of the support rod, which increases the overall height (thickness) of the backrest.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a simpler, more space-saving and more compact solution which, in particular, does not require any adjustment of the parts, enables largely free of play guidance of the support rod without adhering to narrow tolerances and which is also easier to handle.
  • a clamping device of the type mentioned according to the invention in that resilient tongues in the form of sawtooth-like projections are arranged on an elongated base body which is fixedly arranged in the frame.
  • FIG. 1 shows a diagrammatic representation of a dental patient chair with a backrest 1, on which a headrest 3 is held so that it can be pulled out by means of a support rod 2.
  • the support rod 2 is, as can be seen from FIG. 2, longitudinally displaced in a frame labeled 4 in the direction of arrow 5 led bar.
  • the frame 4 is formed by two laterally arranged clamping strips 6, 6a and two thin plates 7, 7a connecting them, the clamping strips 6, 6a and the plates 7, 7a being connected to one another by a plurality of rivets 8.
  • the compact frame 4 thus formed is detachably fastened by means of four screws 9 to a supporting part 10 of the backrest 1.
  • the support rod 2 has the cross-hatched cross-section in the figure, which is essentially rectangular and has strongly rounded edges.
  • the support rod 2 is guided on the two narrow sides in a plurality of resilient tongues 11 arranged on the two terminal strips 6 and 6a.
  • Fig. 3 shows the terminal block 6 in an enlarged view. It is essentially formed from an elongated narrow base body 12 with holes 13 at the two ends for fastening the complete frame 4 by means of the screws 9 on the backrest support part 10 and holes 14 for fastening the two plates 7, 7a to the terminal strips 6, 6a. With 15 recesses are designated, which are arranged evenly distributed over the length of the clamping part 6 and which serve to avoid a build-up of material and thus to ensure the dimensional accuracy of the parts, especially if they are manufactured by injection molding.
  • the tongues are arranged at a distance (a) from one another which corresponds approximately to their wall thickness (thickness). A plurality of tongues can thus be arranged over a relatively short length, and a sufficiently good guidance can thereby be achieved.
  • Each tongue 11 is assigned a stop part 18 in the form of an adjusting screw, which are arranged in the base body of the clamping part 6, namely transversely to the longitudinal axis 16, in the upper third of the tongue length below the narrowest point 19, which practically forms the pivot point which the tongues feather.
  • the constriction is formed by a milling 20 running approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis 16.
  • the set screws 18 lie on a surface 21 of the tongues 11, the screw-in depth determining the prestressing force and the spring action of the tongues 11 and thus the stiffness of the guidance of the support rod in the clamping device. It can also be used to compensate for manufacturing tolerances in the support rod and in the frame.
  • the clamping strips 6, 6a can also contain flat pressure surfaces running parallel to the narrow sides of the support rod 2. It is then expedient to round off the edges of the likewise substantially rectangular support bar only slightly.
  • All materials that have good sliding, abrasion and spring properties can be considered as materials for the terminal strips.
  • a homopolymer or polyacetal material has proven to be particularly advantageous, with which a particularly good spring value, good sliding properties and high abrasion resistance are achieved.
