Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a rolling bearing cage with pockets for receiving the rolling elements, in which these are held by retaining projections which are integrally formed on the cage and which give in elastically when they are inserted.

From GB-A 1370890 a roller bearing cage with pockets for receiving the roller bodies is already known, in which the roller bodies are held by retaining projections molded onto the cage and elastically yielding when they are inserted. In this known cage, projections are provided which are worked out of the cage material itself and which extend from the basic body of the cage between two adjacent holding projections.

A 1952107 also describes a similar cage, in which an incision is formed in each case by the holding projections of two adjacent cage pockets.

However, these known cages easily jump out of the bearing under unfavorable loads, so that the bearing can be destroyed.

Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. The invention, as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a method for producing a rolling bearing cage of the type described above, in which the rolling elements are easily inserted into the cage pockets, but can only be removed again with great difficulty.

The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that the cage cannot jump out of the bearing after the rolling elements have been inserted into the cage pockets, even under unfavorable loads, so that operational safety is ensured.

From DE-B 1 001 062 it was known in rolling bearings, after inserting the rolling elements into the cage, which is not provided with elastically resilient holding projections, to form holding projections from the cage material itself, which lie directly on the rolling elements and these in the cage hold tight.

The main disadvantage of this method of manufacture is that the rolling elements have to be held and aligned by special devices when the holding projections are formed. In the method according to the invention, on the other hand, the holding and alignment of the rolling elements is effected by the holding projections known per se, which yield elastically when the rolling elements are inserted, whereas the subsequently shaped projections have the purpose of preventing the resilient opening of the elastic holding projections.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing.

The same parts are provided with the same reference numbers in the drawing.

The snap cage 1 shown in Fig. 1 is made of plastic and has hollow spherical pockets 2 for receiving the balls 3, which are provided with retaining projections 4 at the open ends. The holding projections 4 are designed to be elastic, so that the cage 12 can be snapped onto the balls 3 without difficulty. So that the cage 1 does not jump out of the bearing even under unfavorable loads, molded projections 5 are provided between the holding projections 4 of two adjacent cage pockets 2, which are provided with an upset head part 6 after the cage 1 has been snapped onto the balls 3 with the edge 7 on the outside against the holding projections 4. As a result, the holding projections 4 are fixed in their position and falling out of the cage 1 from the bearing is reliably avoided. It is expedient not to deform the head part 6 until it rests on the holding projections 4 so that the balls 3 cannot be clamped in the cage pockets 2 when the head part 6 is compressed.

In the cage 8 shown in FIG. 2 for a radial cylindrical roller bearing, molded, radially outwardly projecting tabs 10 are provided next to each holding projection 9, which are deformed by ultrasound after the insertion of the cylindrical rollers 11 into the cage pockets, so that they are with their Free ends up to close to the holding projections 9 or rest on the outside of the holding projections 9 and support them.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 4, the snap cage 12, starting from the end faces at the web ends, is provided with axially extending incisions 13 which separate the holding projections 14 from one another. After snapping the cage 12 onto the balls 3, the web ends become support projections 15 molded out and bent so that a game remains between their free ends or they abut with their free ends and support the retaining projections 14. So that the cage 12 becomes more elastic, it is also advantageous to provide recesses 16 starting from the cage back, which can also be closed again by suitable measures after the cage 12 has been installed.

The cage 17 according to FIG. 5 shows an embodiment which is particularly suitable for snap cages made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. In this embodiment, the cage webs are provided with particularly deep incisions 18, so that the holding projections 19 of the cage, which is made of a relatively hard plastic material, can spring out elastically when snapped onto the balls 3. At the ends of the holding projections 19, a supporting projection 20 is formed in each case, which, after the cage 17 has been installed, is bent by ultrasound into the corresponding incision 18 until there is only a slight play between the ends of two adjacent supporting projections 20 or until their ends 21 abut each other. In this way, the holding projections 19 are prevented from moving in the circumferential direction and the cage is held securely in the bearing.

These described embodiments represent only examples of a rolling bearing cage produced by the method according to the invention. The incisions 18 shown in FIG. 5 can also be made less deep in the case of a more elastic cage material. Furthermore, the play between the formed cage parts and the retaining projections can be made so large that the cage is just prevented from snapping out.
