Abstract

В настоящем изобретении предусмотрены способы снижения колонизации бактерией кишечника щитника, при этом способ включает получение композиции, содержащей ванилин или его аналог; и доставку указанной композиции по отношению к яйцу, из которого произойдет выход щитника, в результате чего колонизация бактерией внутри кишечника щитника, вышедшего из яйца, обработанного композицией, снижается по сравнению со щитником, вышедшим из необработанного яйца. В некоторых вариантах осуществления снижение колонизации бактерией снижает приспособленность щитника, например снижает репродуктивную способность, выживаемость, скорость развития, количество яиц, количество яиц с выходом особей, показатель появления взрослых особей, длину тела, ширину тела, массу тела или толщину кутикулы. В некоторых вариантах осуществления предусмотренных в данном документе способов средство, нарушающее бактериальную колонизацию, представляет собой ингибитор метаболизма бактерий. В некоторых вариантах осуществления средство, нарушающее бактериальную колонизацию, представляет собой ингибитор синтеза полигидроксиалканоатов (РНА).
