Abstract

Изобретение относится к неорганическому материалу-сцинтиллятору формулы ALnX, в которой Ln представляет собой один или более редкоземельных элементов, Х представляет собой один или более атомов галогена, выбранных из F, Cl, Br или I, и А представляет собой один или более щелочных металлов, таких как K, Li, Na, Rb или Cs, n и p представляют собой такие величины, что n, которое может быть равно нулю, меньше или равно 2р, и что р больше или равно 1, причем содержание в нём дочерних элементов урана и тория является достаточно низким для того, чтобы обусловленная альфа-излучением этих элементов активность составляла менее 0,7 Бк/см. Этот материал имеет очень низкий радиоактивный фоновый шум и является особенно подходящим для применения в качестве сцинтиллятора детектора для измерений массы или толщины покрытия или в областях ядерной медицины, физики, химии и нефтеразведки, или при выявлении опасных или запрещенных веществ.
