Abstract

The invention relates to an electrostatically operating filter for separating particles from a gas, comprising at least one electrode (4) connected to a high voltage source and at least one earthed or oppositely poled electrode (5) between which the gas charged with particles is guided. In order to improve the cleaning performance of the filter, at least one of the electrodes (4,5) is provided with a space (9) in which the particles can enter and in whose extension essentially no electric potential difference prevails. The invention also relates to a method for separating particles from a gas by means of an electrostatically operating filter.
