Abstract

The sail batten (1) for detachably fastening between mast (2), e.g. of a sailboard, and luff of the sail (3) in the area of a sail lath (5) has a sleeve, partly enclosing the mast (2) and rotatable about the latter, and two profiling arms (7, 8) directed towards the leech. The sleeve is formed by two elastic retaining webs (10, 11) at a distance apart in the direction of the mast axis. The retaining webs (10, 11) are adapted to the mast (2) tapering from foot to tip and thus ensure limited rotary mobility, free of play, of the sail batten (1) about the mast (2). The two opposite profiling arms (7, 8), integrally formed on the sleeve of the sail batten (1) and having an airfoil profile for supporting the luff-side end (12) of a sail lath (5) which is curved in accordance with the sail profile determined by the apparent wind, are of dimensionally stable design. The sail batten (1) is detachably fastened to the sail (3) by a catch (13). <IMAGE>
