DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
The invention relates to a double-faced knitted fabric and, a method of making the same, in which in each course on the face side and back of the goods meshes of a ribbed weave, hereinafter referred to as rib stitches for short, on the one hand and meshes or groups of meshes of a bond in smooth goods, in the following briefly called smooth stitches, alternate on the other hand. The arrangement of the meshes can either so that the stitches are in the wales are similar to one another, or in such a way that rib stitches and alternate smooth stitches. So it is a product that is on the The front and the back each have a skeleton of smooth mesh, which is created by rib mesh are connected to each other.
Hier fehlenIn a known ribbed product, rows of stitches are provided which consist only of rib stitches exist, also rows of stitches in which stitches only on one side of the fabric and in between Handles are provided which are integrated in the other side of the goods, these handles alternating with long stitches of the first-mentioned series and with the stitches of a one-sided smooth Mesh weave are involved. Finally, interlockware is also known, 'bei the outside of the rib stitches formed from two threads from a third thread on only one Smooth meshes are formed on the fabric side.
These last-named goods, which are the goods according to comes closest to the invention due to its regular structure, 'however, is on one side of the goods less stretchy than on the other. This affects the processing into clothing in such a way that the fabric rolls up, making it difficult to work with and only one side has, which can be taken in the garment-to the outside. The rest of the known and the above-mentioned goods do not have the following because of their irregular structure advantageous properties of the goods Invention on.
The binding according to the invention is based on the principle that the functions of To keep the carrier threads (smooth stitches) and the effect thread (rib stitches) apart. This is achieved by making the smooth stitches made of a stronger thread can be made that has more twist, the rib stitches resulting from one the effect the thread causing the goods to be produced

This makes it possible to use threads that are sensitive to stretching, e.g. B. those made of plastic fibers, to process. The plain stitches and the rib stitches can be made of different materials are made, the more valuable material being used for the rib stitches because the rib stitches determine the character of the goods. Compared to the interlockware and the Ribbed fabric has the knitted fabric according to the invention the advantage that cheaper material can be used.

Furthermore, the knitted fabric according to the invention has the advantage over the interlock fabric and the rib fabric that a rubber thread can be used without difficulty / idBr is then expediently processed into smooth stitches on the back of the fabric, and that this rubber thread over conventional knitted goods 'iri ■■ incorporated the rubber thread does not appear. The goods can be produced on circular knitting machines as well as on flat knitting machines.
The method consists in that the opposing needles of two rows of needles in two interlocking lock systems operated alternately be that at least one thread of the threads forming the smooth stitches each is inserted on the opposite side of the tongue of those needles that the smooth Stitches ·· -forming needles are opposite, - and that the threads forming the rib stitches are laid in the middle of the needle cross. The production the product is also possible on ordinary knitting machines, where the needles are not face. It then only needs the lock systems on one side opposite the lock systems to be transferred to the other side.
