Description

The invention relates to an internal combustion engine, in particular a two-stroke internal combustion engine, that is, the charge of the working cylinder is increased by pressure waves triggered during its exhaust process after the inlet openings have been closed according to pressure and quantity. B. in the form of a constriction of the line of such 9 #, cross section and such a distance from the cylinder are provided that the pressure wave that occurs when the connection between the cylinder and the line is opened and is reflected back from the baffle is positive, before the connection opening is closed again in reaches the cylinder and thereby increases the pressure of the combustion air in the cylinder, according to patent 946 930.

The invention is a proposal for improving the internal combustion engine based on the main patent. According to this proposal, inventions, according to the Exhaust pipe of the machine, seen in the outflow direction of the exhaust gases, between the cylinder and baffle an extension so that one between the exhaust shaft and whose positive thrown back negative pressure wave is created during the flushing reduces the pressure in the cylinder and thereby relieves the pressure on the flushing fan. Extensions in the exhaust system of internal combustion engines are known per se, specifically in the case of silencers and with a charging method other than the one according to the invention Machinery.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing. The figure shows the cylinder a of a two-stroke racing engine and its exhaust pipe b in longitudinal section. A baffle surface, for example a nozzle c, is provided in the exhaust line, which, although it acts as a baffle surface for the exhaust pressure wave, does not offer any significant resistance to the exhaust gases flowing out. When the outlet opening of the cylinder is opened by the piston d , a pressure wave is created which runs at the speed of sound through the exhaust line b and is partly thrown back towards the cylinder at the nozzle c. By appropriately dimensioning the distance L of the nozzle c from the outlet opening of the cylinder it is achieved that this positive reflection of the exhaust pressure wave reaches the cylinder before the outlet opening is closed, the latter being refilled with scavenging air from the exhaust line. The prerequisite for this is, of course, that not only the cylinder but also the first section of the exhaust line is filled with scavenging air, as it normally occurs due to the usual scavenging air effort.

According to the invention, the exhaust line b, viewed in the outflow direction of the exhaust gases, has an expansion c between the cylinder a and the nozzle c at a distance L from the cylinder. While of passing the exhaust pressure wave at this expansion creates a negative pressure wave, which travels back to the cylinder and there temporarily before the positive discard the c at the nozzle reflected exhaust pressure wave arrives in the cylinder, lowers the pressure so that the rinsing fan is relieved. The negative pressure wave thus lies between the exhaust pressure wave and its positive return.

The extension e according to the invention can not only be used in the exhaust gases discharging lines provided with a baffle, but also in the after the main patent provided for the same purpose, closed lines at the end and also be provided in the purge air line between the fan and cylinder, where they in exactly the same way between the exhaust pressure wave and its positive throwbacks a negative pressure wave is generated.

PATENT CLAIM: Internal combustion engine, in particular two-stroke internal combustion engine, in which the charge of the working cylinder is increased by pressure waves triggered during its exhaust process after the inlet openings have been closed in terms of pressure and quantity.
