Description

Electrolyte for Electrolytic Capacitors The invention relates to to an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitors, which consists of one glycol and another polyhydric alcohol, boric acid and ammonium pentaborate is composed. It is known that the capacitance of such capacitors with falling temperature so decreases, so that the capacitors are only half at a temperature of -4o ° C have the capacity they have at room temperature of about 20 ° C.

Much more favorable ratios result when the electrolyte of an electrolytic capacitor according to the invention consists of zoo parts of glycol, 2 parts of polyvinyl alcohol, 20 parts of boric acid and 22 parts of ammonium pentaborate. This composition results in an electrolyte which is excellent from an electrical point of view and with which a maximum voltage of about 520 volts can be achieved in electrolytic capacitors. Capacitors with the above-mentioned composition of their electrolyte have at a temperature of -4o ° C still about 20 ° / o of the capacity that they have at -f- 20 ° C. If, however, polyvinyl alcohol is not added to the composition of the electrolyte, then the capacity also drops again to only 65 ° at -q.0 ° C; o the value that the same capacitor has at + 20 ° C. It was also found that the addition of polyvinyl alcohol made it possible to increase the maximum voltage from 420 to about 520 volts, that is to say by about roo volts.
