Description
Lightfast printing inks for printing with rubber printing forms In the In the graphic industry, the rubber printing process is popular because it is easier to manufacture the printing forms and the ease of implementation to an increasing extent. As printing inks mainly find solutions of dyes in fuel or similar highly volatile, Solvents that do not attack the rubber of the printing form, possibly under Addition of binders, such as resins, use. One is practically on that Use of basic dyes instructed, as only they have the required easy solubility in fuel and the other solvents in question; the lightfastness the prints obtained with basic dyes, however, meet the increasing requirements often not, and the use of more lightfast dyes has hitherto been the case for this reason not possible because it is precisely these in the solvents used for rubber printing, like fuel, are not soluble enough.
It has now been found that metal complex compounds of organic Dyes that are suitable for dyeing nitrocellulose lacquers, so-called zapon dyes, can also be used for rubber printing inks if you use the one used for this purpose water-soluble solvents, such as fuel, add at least 5% water. It has namely it has been shown that the dyes mentioned in the rubber printing inks Solvents used, essentially fuel, sparingly to insoluble, against it are sufficiently soluble in the aqueous solvents. Of course it will you choose the water content of the solvent so that an optimal solubility the dyes is obtained; in general one does not go above 50% water content out.
Patentschrift 639 827).This finding is all the more surprising since water alone or the solvents alone, such as gasoline, do not dissolve the dyes or only dissolve them in a hardly satisfactory manner. It is therefore an essential feature of the invention to use water-containing organic, water-miscible solvents for dissolving the special class of dyes. The binders generally used for the production of rubber printing inks, such as resins, must of course be selected so that they are sufficiently soluble in the water-containing solvent used, which can easily be determined by a brief preliminary test. Particularly suitable for this are fuel-soluble acidic resins, such as. B. addition products of acrylic acid on rosin (see. Patent 744 578) or weakly saponified esters of phthalic anhydride and pentaerythritol (see. Patent 639 827).
The parts mentioned in the following examples are parts by weight. example i To a solution of 30 parts of the condensation product of rosin and acrylic acid (see patent specification 744 578) in 59 parts of fuel are added ii parts of water and dissolved in the mixture i2 parts of the complex cobalt compound of the monoazo dye dianotized i-oxy-2-amino-4-nitrobenzene and acetoacetic anilide. The received yellow printing ink is ideally suited as a rubber printing ink.
If, instead of the dye mentioned, the mixed t-chromium complex compound of the azo dyes is used from dianotated i-oxy-2-amino-4-nitrobenzene and i-phenyl-3-methyl-pyrazolone- (5) on the one hand and dianotated anthranilic acid and i-phenyl -3-methyl-pyrazolone- (5) on the other hand (cf. patent specification 742 93g ) , an orange-colored rubber printing ink is obtained. EXAMPLE 2 To a solution of 20 parts of the condensation product mentioned in Example i in 50 parts of fuel is added 3o parts of water with stirring and then 2o parts of the complex chromium compound of the monoazo dye from dianotated i-oxy-2-amino-5-nitrobenzene and dissolved therein i-phenyl-3-methyl-pyrazolone- (5). A red rubber printing ink is obtained in this way.
Example 3. 16 parts of the ester from phthalic acid and pentaerythritol are in 414 parts of water with the addition of 0.6 parts of a 25% aqueous Solution of ammonia brought into solution with partial saponification. Then you give Add 42 parts of fuel and dissolve 16 parts of the complex chromium compound in the mixture of the azo dye from dianotized i-oxy-2-amino-4-nitro-benzenesulfonic acid and acetoacetic anilide. An eminently suitable yellow rubber printing ink is obtained in this way.
