Der Gehalt an Kreosot und der damit verbundene penetrante Geruch bildet ein wesentliches Hindernifs für die Anwendung der Mineralöle zu gewerblichen und technischen Zwecken. Alle bisher angewendeten Mittel, als Waschen mit Spiritus, Behandlung mit Säuren u. s. w., genügen nicht, diesen lästigen Begleiter zu beseitigen.
