The innovation concerns a "bridge" for the accommodation of shorter wood sections, sawn wood packages or the like, which can be connected at its front end to the motor vehicle and at its rear end to the trailer of a long wood vehicle for the transport of the shorter wood sections or the like.

Long timber vehicles are known to consist of a motor vehicle and a trailer. The trailer is transported on the motor vehicle when the long timber vehicle is unloaded. To load the long timber vehicle with long tree trunks, the trailer is placed at a suitable distance behind the motor vehicle.

The tree trunks are then placed on the motor vehicle and trailer, with the connection between the motor vehicle and the trailer of the long-timber vehicle being made by the tree trunks.

So that the long timber vehicle can also be used to transport short timber sections or sawn timber packages or similar, a loading bridge is known which can be connected at its front end to the motor vehicle and at its rear end to the trailer of a long timber vehicle. This loading bridge is generally a rectangular frame with a loading area, and if necessary, stanchions can be inserted into the frame to support shorter loads.

The disadvantage is that in order to use the long timber vehicle to transport long tree trunks, the loading bridge must be removed, which causes costs due to the amount of work involved and the additional travel distances.

The aim of the innovation is therefore to propose a loading bridge of the type mentioned above, which can also be used in connection with long tree trunks.

To solve this problem, it is proposed that the loading bridge has a height-adjustable support device in its front section at a distance from the front end.

Advantageously, at least one support leg that can be extended telescopically downwards is provided as a support device.

In a preferred embodiment, the support device can be folded from the position protruding downwards into the loading bridge level.

Preferably, the support device can be operated hydraulically or pneumatically.

The innovation is illustrated in the drawings as an example. They show:

According to Fig. 1 to 4, a long timber vehicle (1) consists of a motor vehicle (2) and a trailer (3).

As can be seen from Fig. 1 and 2, a loading bridge (A) is provided for the use of the long timber vehicle (1) for transporting short timber sections or sawn timber packages or the like, which is connected with its front end

(5) with the motor vehicle (2) and with its rear end

(6) can be connected to the trailer (3).

The loading bridge (4) is a substantially rectangular frame with a loading surface on which sawn timber packages (.7), as shown in Fig. 2, or, with the aid of additional stanchions, short timber sections can be loaded.

As shown in Figures 1 to 4, a height-adjustable support device (8) is connected to the front section of the loading bridge (4) at a distance from the front end (5). As shown in Figures 1 and 2 in particular, the support device (8) is at such a distance from the front end (5) of the loading bridge that when the loading bridge (4) is placed on the motor vehicle (2) and the trailer (3), the support device (8) can be extended downwards into the space between the motor vehicle (2) and the trailer (3) to support the loading bridge.

As soon as the support device (8) supports the loading bridge (4), the motor vehicle (2) can be released from the loading bridge (4) and positioned at a distance in front of the loading bridge, as shown in Fig. 3.

The long timber vehicle (1) can then be loaded with long tree trunks (9) as shown in Fig. 4. Once the loading process is complete, the loading bridge (4) is connected to the tree trunks (9) at its front end (5) with a strap (10) or similar.

After the support device (8) has been retracted or folded, the log vehicle can transport the logs (9) to the desired location.

The support device (8) prevents the loading bridge (4) from falling and the trailer (3) from being damaged or tipped over when the long timber vehicle (1) is loaded with logs (9). The proposed support device (8) also means that it is not necessary to remove the loading bridge (4) when loading the long timber vehicle (1) with long logs (9), thus avoiding unnecessary costs due to work and empty journeys.

Loading bridge for the accommodation of shorter lumber sections, lumber packages or the like, which can be connected to the motor vehicle at its front end and to the trailer of a lumber vehicle at its rear end for the transport of the shorter lumber sections, characterized in that the loading bridge (4) is at a distance &ngr; from the front end (5) has a height-adjustable ~* support device (8). 2. Loading bridge according to claim 1/ characterized in that at least one support leg which can be extended telescopically downwards is provided as the support device (8). 3.
