Description

The invention relates to a table-top device for shredding paper by means of a shearing device.

Devices for shredding paper and documents are known. These work according to different systems and are all designed to destroy large quantities of documents. Therefore, these devices are relatively large and bulky, so that they are designed and used as separate stand-alone devices. In addition, such devices are complex to manufacture and therefore expensive.

However, there is often a need to destroy individual documents directly at the desk by shredding them. For the reasons outlined above, the known devices are not suitable for this purpose.

The invention is therefore based on the object of developing a device which, due to its small design, can be used on the desk to destroy individual documents such as letters, bank statements or other documents.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the shearing device is formed by sharp-edged corners of webs which are formed between circumferential grooves on two axially parallel, interlocking orbits, the width of the grooves and their distance from one another being selected such that the webs of one roller fit into the grooves of the opposite roller, the web flanks lying closely against the groove flanks.

The advantage of the device according to the invention is that this arrangement means that the device is so small that it can be placed on any desk without causing any obstruction and can shred individual documents. It is also advantageous that this design means that the device can be manufactured without great effort. Further advantageous features of the device according to the invention are set out in the subclaims.

It should be noted that the hand crank drive is particularly advantageous for this application. Of course, the drive can also be motorized and facilitated by a suitable gear. The device can be made from all suitable materials. It is advantageous to use metal or ceramic cutting rollers, the frame and the other auxiliary devices.

The devices are made of light plastic. The handles make it easier to feed the paper and the feed and discharge devices provide a particularly easy way of operating the device. These prevent the cut paper from wrapping around the rollers ^and thus causing a malfunction .

An embodiment of the table device according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 1 shows a table device that stands with its side supports 10, 11 on a base 19, e.g. a desk top. The side supports 10 and 11 are held together by spacer bolts 17 according to the desired roller width, e.g. half DIN A, which are attached to the outside of the side supports by screws 18.

The insertion devices 13, 14, which are attached to the side stands 10, 11, obscure the view of the rollers 2 and 3. Webs 4 of the rollers 2 and 3 protrude over the side plates of the insertion devices 13 and 14. A hand crank 8 protrudes laterally over the side stand 10, above whose operating part a grooved bushing 9 is arranged, which serves to facilitate operation.

Fig. 2 shows a partial section through the plane of the bearing of the roller axes 20 and 21. On the roller axes there are on one side the spacer bushes 12, which prevent the rotating rollers 2 and 3 from touching the side stand 11, and on the other side drive gears 22. The teeth of the introduction devices 13 and 14 protrude into the gap between the web tracks 7 and the respective groove base 5 of the opposite roller. Behind them are the teeth of the discharge devices 15 and 16 (not shown).

Fig. 3 shows a section along line A-A in Fig. 2. Here you can see how the insertion devices 13 and 14 and the discharge devices 15 and 16 protrude into the gap between web tracks 7 and the respective groove base 5.
