Abstract

1309893 Shredding apparatus Z BRIERLEY 23 Sept 1971 44400/71 Heading B2A A document shredder comprises a pair of cutter shafts 24, 25, arranged parallel to one another with cutters on the one shaft projecting into spaces between the cutters of the other and vice versa, and geared together for co-rotation in opposite directions and a handle 32 to rotate the shafts, adapted to engage with one of the shafts at each end of the shredder. Each shaft comprises a spindle 26 formed with a socket 30, 31 in one end. The handle 32 has a complementary shaped end 33. Each cutter shaft also includes a stripper tube 34 and each cutter protrudes through a respective opening in the tube. End panels 13, 14 of the shredder casing each include a flange 36 to define a mouth 37 to which a receptacle for shredded material can be secured. The device can be clamped on a table or desk by clamps 38.
