Description Rear door ventilator for motorhomes

The purpose of the rear door vent is to keep vertical, upward-opening rear doors of motorhomes open a crack.

Most lower-class motorhomes have no ventilation in the rear area, with the exception of the fully open rear door. When the vehicle is stationary, heat builds up in this area due to a lack of air circulation, which is particularly pronounced in rear-engine vehicles after long journeys. Since the rear of the vehicle contains cupboards and compartments in which valuable travel items are sometimes stored, the fully opening of the rear door to ventilate the vehicle is only possible if it is supervised at all times.

The rear door fan used must therefore fulfil the following tasks:

1. opening the rear door. To the extent that: a. fresh air flows in kat/n

b. no access to inventory is possible.

c. the top door seal largely prevents rain from penetrating.

2. maintain the door lock function (locking the door in a slightly open position),

3. must be easy to install at the end of the journey (i.e. without tools),

It shows the functional principle of the door locking mechanism and that of the fixed vehicle lock .

The installed rear door ventilator acts like a "boom" for the vehicle's roof, into which the door mechanism engages, as when it is closed normally.

The rear door ventilator has a fixed locking pin (11) at one end, similar to the vehicle lock, which allows the door lock mechanism to engage. At the other end there is a locking slot

When the rear door is open, the rear door ventilator is attached transversely (to the direction of travel) to the fixed locking pin fl··*) and secured to it by pivoting it lengthways. The transverse securing is ensured either by a lock guide part (t*·*) itself or by a base plate (2/t) with a longitudinal slot that is pivotally connected to the rear door ventilator.

If the rear door is closed until it clicks into place on the rear door ventilator, the rear door ventilator can no longer be swivelled in the transverse direction (i.e. for removal).

To prevent theft, the shape of the rear door vent is designed so that when swung in, it covers at least one fastening screw of the rear door mechanism (nose (W)).
