Description
Process for the production of petroleum jelly or white oils It has been found that valuable petroleum jelly, which can be used for medical purposes, is made from high-boiling, Paraffin-containing distillation residues are obtained when they are removed from asphalt and suitably resinous. Substances, especially through treatment with liquefied, Hydrocarbons gaseous at ordinary temperature at ordinary or Freed elevated temperature and the raffinate or the paraffin obtained from this a practically non-splitting, refining pressure hydrogenation in the presence of Sulphides of metals: the 6th group, which retard the splitting, the hydrogenation effect promoting or non-impairing substances are added, in particular nickel or cobalt sulfide on non-cleaving support materials, such as. B. active clay, the product of the existing or possibly formed low-boiling Freed fractions and expediently subjected to refining with adsorbents.
As starting materials, distillation, in particular: vacuum residues or high-boiling fractions, of paraffin-containing petroleum, e.g. B. paraffinic or gemischbbasischen petroleum. . if necessary, shale oils, lignite tar oils, which contain practically no components boiling below 325 °, can also be considered. It is advisable here to remove the hard paraffin crystals which precipitate at a slightly reduced temperature before processing.
The starting material is with adsorbents; chemical refiners, such as B. sulfuric acid, selective solvents, ihs especially butane, propane or Ethane or mixtures of these. When using. Propane is used Temperatures of 30 ° and above, in particular, 40 to 6d ° ', on. The temperature is adapted to the critical temperature of the solvent. The higher. Its critical Temperature, the higher the treatment temperature that can be selected. So can e.g. when using. Butane a temperature of 80 to 100 ° 'would be advantageous. With propane with a considerable amount of ethane you can only use ordinary boring work at a moderately elevated temperature. With this treatment, the asphalt appears and, depending on the working temperature, also a resin-like product that is low in hydrogen away; these substances are separated from the dissolved raffinate.
This raffinate can be used to make petroleum jelly in various ways, to win. You can hydrogenate the raffinate and from the product after separation, Lower every portion of the petroleum jelly can be obtained by distillation. But you can also with advantage only a paraffin containing about 10 to 10% oil is better known per se Separate from the raffinate and then hydrogenate it; The product represents make a good petroleum jelly.
The raffinate can also be hydrogenated and then with solvents dewax. One can win from the oil-containing paraffin which has been separated out in this way the petroleum jelly, while a high-quality lubricating oil, e.g. B. aircraft engine oil, can be obtained after driving off the low molecular weight fractions. The never @ drigmolekularen Parts can be added to the petroleum jelly. You can also use the excreted paraffin disassemble into hard and soft paraffin and from the soft paraffin, if necessary under Addition of low molecular weight oil components and / or the previously separated total paraffin, make the petroleum jelly.
The hydrogenation is called refined pressure hydrogenation at pressures above 2o st, especially above 15o at, e.g. B. at zoo up to 70o at or higher, and at. Temperatures of about 35o to 46o °, in particular 35o to 43d °, carried out. In general, a throughput of 0.4 to 3 kg of the starting material is chosen, in particular - 0.5 to about 1.5 kg, per liter of catalyst and hour. The amount of hydrogen to use is about 2 to 4 cbm, -in particular 2.5 to 3.5 cbm, per kilogram of starting material.
Man -verwendet z. The catalyst used is sulfide., - the metals. Of the 6: group of the periodic table: Since this.-. Sulphides cause too much cleavage, What is undesirable for Vaseline are: substances that delay the cleavage admitted. Alumina, magnesia, zinc oxide or the like come into consideration. It is suitable e.g. B. a sulphurized, from molecular amounts of molybdic acid, zinc oxide and magnesia, an existing mixture. Appropriately, one uses one of the sulfides Metals of the 6: group and a smaller amount of nickel and / or cobalt: sulfide existing Catalyst. One uses e.g. B. a, catalyst, which consists of 15 to 35 parts, in particular 22 to 2 & parts of tungsten oxide and 2 to 10 parts, in particular 4 to 7 parts of nickel oxide, which by sulfurizing into the corresponding sulfides are transferred, is established. The use has proven to be particularly advantageous of active clay, proven to be a carrier, the hydrogenation product contains a small Amount of newly formed fractions boiling up to 340 °. Depending on the choice of working conditions, in particular of the catalyst, this amount can be up to a few percent, e.g. B. 3 up to 6% ,, which can be easily removed by blowing off in a vacuum can.
Before using the petroleum jelly, it is advisable to remove any remaining to remove coloring constituents iriifi bleaching earth or other adsorbents. The product then represents an excellent Vaseline that meets the requirements of the Trade is enough.
If the hydrogenation is conducted so that. a colorless hydrogenation product is obtained, the colorless vaseline obtained in this way can also be used valuable white oil is obtained by mixing it with a dewaxing agent, cools and separates the separated paraffin. For example, the petroleum jelly with: two to ten times the amount of liquefied Schw @ efefd-iaxyd, benzene-aceto @ n mixture, liquid: aliphatic, chlorinated hydrocarbons or, in particular, liquefied, at various temperature gaseous hydrocarbons, such as B. propane, butane or ethane or mixtures of these. The mixture is: then, appropriately after heating up to complete. Solution, to temperatures from -io to: -5o °, in particular -2o to -4ö ', cooled and the separated paraffin separated off. The thus obtained, Solvent-free oil is: a white oil that is used for medicinal purposes is excellently suited. Example i A vacuum residue from Nienhagener crude oil is treated with: five times the amount of propane at 5o0, where: the asphalt and Resin substances are precipitated. After it has been freed from propane, the raffinate contains about 25% paraffin. It is used together with hydrogen at 700 at pressure and 410 ° above passed a catalyst, which consists of alumina with 25%, tungsten sulfide and 5 0/0: Nickel sulfide. The product is cooled, in particular after the gases have been separated off of hydrogen, relaxed and easy by distillation of about 5% Shares exempt. Then it will treated with 2% fuller's earth at 90 ° and then has the properties of the best petroleum jelly for medical purposes.
If you want to win white oil, the petroleum jelly is: five times as much Treated amount of propane at about -4o ° and filtered off the separated paraffin. freed. The filtrate is a too after a weak refining with fuller's earth White oil that is well suited for medical purposes. If necessary, another Protection of the product through treatment with concentrated acid or other refining agents. Example 2 By deasphalting a crude oil residue gives a high-boiling, viscous oil with a flash point of 25o °. This is dewaxed in the usual way using liquefied propane. The so The slack wax obtained is, as indicated in Example i, the refining pressure hydrogenation subject. The product obtained is distilled off after .4% light fractions are treated with 2% fuller's earth and represent a high-quality petroleum jelly. Example 3 A vacuum residue of a paraffin-based petroleum is five times the volume treated liquefied propane. The excreted hard asphalt is separated. The oil-propane solution is then heated to 90 °, whereby a. resinous and oily Paraffin separates. This is together with hydrogen at 700 at and. 415 ° via one consisting of active alumina with 25% tungsten sulfide and 5% nickel sulfide Catalyst passed. The product is cooled and, after separation, the gases are relaxed and freed from 10% a low-boiling components by distillation. It will then be with 3% fuller's earth treated at go ° and has the properties of the best Vaseline for medical purposes.
