Device for covering window or door openings in buildings

The invention relates to a device for covering window or door openings in buildings by means of a covering film or the like that can be held to the frame using profile rails that are permanently attached to the frame. 5

When covering window or door openings, for example for plastering or painting a building - the same applies to covering the inside when painting or wallpapering a room - plastic films are almost always used nowadays, which are attached to the frame using adhesive tape. However, this type of attachment has the disadvantage - in addition to the high time required and therefore the high costs required to cover a window or door - that such a covering cannot be reused. In general, the fine plaster layer can only be applied to the base plaster after a certain period of time, so that if the house is already inhabited, which is often the case these days, it is necessary to tear down the covering in the meantime and then have to completely reapply it after a few days or weeks. However, this cover, described in German Auslegeschrift 1 241 091, has the disadvantage that - in addition to the high costs of the inflatable closure bodies - they must be adapted to the size of the windows, so that in the case of uneven and non-standard window or door dimensions, a large number of specially manufactured closure bodies would have to be specially manufactured.

In addition, an adjustable metal frame has already been proposed in DE-OS 2 126 330, which is inserted into the building opening to be covered and then covered with a plastic film. However, such a metal frame is extremely expensive, and the adjustability of such a frame is also limited, so that a plastering company would have to keep a large number of different frames in stock and maintain them, which in practice certainly cannot lead to satisfactory results.

The invention is therefore based on the object of designing a device for covering window or door openings of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that frequent reuse is possible with the simplest construction and very easy assembly of the cover.

To achieve this object, the invention provides that the profile rails comprise a U-profile that receives an edge of the cover film or the like, the second leg of which, opposite the fastening leg on the frame, is provided with a vertically angled plastering web.

In a further development of the invention, it can be provided that the base leg of the U-profile has an extension parallel to and in the direction of the plastering web, forming a second fastening leg. The fastening legs should preferably be self-adhesive with a removable cover film, so that during construction it is only necessary to cut a corresponding piece of profile rail to length and press it onto the frame after removing the cover film, without any further construction measures being necessary. Experience has shown that in this way - in conjunction with the options for designing the actual cover to be held in the profile rails, which will be discussed in more detail later - the windows can be covered two to three times faster than with the help of the previously usual method of covering the film with adhesive tape.

When using a flexible cover film, it has proven particularly useful in a further development of the invention to hold the edges of the cover film in the receiving channel of the U-profile by means of clamping bodies, for example by means of slotted clamping strips forming spring-loaded clamping legs, around which the edges of the cover film are placed, so that they are both tensioned and clamped when the clamping strip is snapped into the receiving channel of the profile rail.

If the openings do not have to be closed very large, it is sufficient to provide profile rails according to the invention only on the vertical frame parts, even when using flexible foils, since the lack of additional savings on the upper and lower edges is generally not important due to the firm clamping in conjunction with the tight tension of the foil. In the case of large openings, such a profile rail can of course also be attached to the horizontal frame to hold the cover.

To facilitate assembly, it has proven advantageous if the clamping strips have a thickened grip edge opposite the slot for forming the spring-loaded clamping legs.

In a further development of the invention, instead of a film, a cover can be provided which is characterized by a plurality of self-supporting cover plates, preferably made of transparent plastic, such as PVC glass, which can be held in the desired position by means of connecting devices, so that they can be moved relative to one another, in which they together fill a given reveal opening. This type of cover not only enables larger openings to be filled, since the wind forces can then be better absorbed and there is no risk of the film tearing, but it also results in a cover which can be reused much more easily and more frequently than flexible films. The flexible films do allow multiple use on one and the same building if the cover is to be removed and reapplied at intervals of days or weeks, but they are not particularly suitable for being transferred from one building site to the next, since the formats of the window

The cover according to the invention, which is made of self-supporting plates that can be moved against one another, solves this problem.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, it can be further provided that several, preferably four, cover plates are connected by telescopic rods which engage the overlapping edges of two plates which can be moved relative to one another and can be extended against the action of tension springs, whereby such a telescopic rod can be formed particularly simply by two hook members which are connected to one another by a coil tension spring and which overlap the edges of the cover plates being slidably mounted on a rigid rod. The plates are each pre-tensioned by the telescopic rods into their largest possible cover surface, which is displaced outwards, so that they only have to be pressed together to be inserted into a given window opening, so that when released they automatically spring into the receiving channels of the profile rails. To ensure that the hook links do not simply detach from the edges and thus the telescopic rods do not fall down, the hook links which are tiltably guided on the rod should be provided with a clamping bead so that the overlapping leg is wedged around the edge of the cover plate under the effect of this clamping bead and is thus held in place by clamping.

In a further embodiment of the cover according to the invention, made of self-supporting cover plates connected to one another to form a connecting device, it is provided that four cover plates each with longitudinal slots arranged alternately in one of their diagonals can be locked in continuously variable displacement positions by a connecting bolt with clamping elements passing through all of the slots. The four plates, two of which are provided with longitudinal slots in one diagonal and two in the other diagonal, which extend as far as possible to the corners so that a large mutual displacement is possible, allow one plate to be pulled out in the direction of a corner of the original rectangular or square plate stack.

so that a continuous increase in both the height and the width of the cover is possible, whereby the desired extension format is locked by the clamping elements of the connecting bolt, by which the panels are firmly clamped together.

It has proven to be particularly advantageous if the bolt has a vacuum suction cup at one end for support on the window pane or similar, since in this way the entire surface of the cover is not suspended in a self-supporting manner only at the edges, but an additional support in the middle significantly reduces the risk of detachment and bending due to wind forces. &igr;

Instead of the four cover plates mentioned above, which can be pulled apart in the four diagonal directions and each have longitudinal slots running diagonally, according to a third embodiment of the invention, at least one cover plate with a longitudinal slot arranged centrally parallel between two opposite outer edges can be displaced in a lockable manner relative to at least one holding plate carrying a bolt with locking devices passing through the longitudinal slot. This design makes it possible to overcome very large widths, since in the end any number of such longitudinally slotted plates can be joined together alternately with holding plates. This is the easiest way to achieve an adaptation to the largest dimension of a window opening, whereby it does not matter whether this is the height or the width of the window, while the other dimension of the plates is chosen so that it either corresponds to the corresponding dimension of the window, or so that several extendable plate strips placed on top of or next to each other fill the recess to be covered. Particularly when there are more than two cover plates that can be extended in this way, it is advantageous to provide a guide rail for the slotted extension cover plates that can be placed on the bolts of the holding plate and extends laterally beyond the holding plate.

The design of the connecting bolts can be made particularly simple if, as is provided in a further development of the invention, the bolt provided with a thread has a fixed plate and a wing nut or the like serving as a clamping element, whereby the plate of the bolt can be firmly connected to the respective cover plate, in particular glued, which also significantly reduces the risk of losing the connecting devices.

The rigid covers according to the invention can also be held by engaging their edges in the receiving channel of a profile rail of the type described above that is permanently attached to the frame, whereby in general additional clamping elements are no longer required at all or at most to prevent the cover from rattling if the thickness of the panels or, in the case of diagonally extendable panels, the double thickness of the panels does not correspond to the width of the receiving channel. In addition, however, these covers made up of rigid cover panels, which allow the format to be changed, can also be very easily installed without the profile lines by providing them with nail openings on their outer edges and attaching them to the frame of the window or the like to be covered using a few nails. Disassembly only requires pulling out the few nails, whereby the reuse of such a cover at a later point in time on the same window or on another construction site is obviously also possible.

On the leg of the U-profile opposite the plastering strip, a self-adhesive coating with a removable cover film 8 is applied on the outside, so that the profile can be glued very easily to the frame 1 during construction. flexible film - as has been the norm up to now - is used, but rather self-supporting cover plates made of transparent plastic or similar that can be moved against one another. The plates 14 are connected to one another by telescopic rods 15 in such a way that the cover plates 14 are each pre-tensioned by the spring-loaded telescopic rods into the largest-format sliding position outwards. By pressing the plates together, they can be brought into the desired format of a window opening,

whereby the firepower can then take place by automatically firing the cattle into the profile rails 4 on the respective frame. The receiving channel 9 of the profile 4 is

twice as wide as the thickness of a plate, so that they also fit into the receiving channel in the overlapping area. Figures 8 to 10 show a second embodiment of a self-supporting cover made of four cover plates 14' _which are identically designed and can be moved relative to one another. The plates are each provided with a longitudinal slot running along a diagonal, the orientation of the plates being designed such that the longitudinal slots are arranged along one diagonal in two of them and along the other diagonal in the others. In the embodiment of another self-supporting cover made of plates that can be moved relative to one another, which is shown in Figures 11 to 13, holding plates 14a with bolts 30 and cover plates 14b provided with a central longitudinal slot 31 are used alternately, whereby at least one holding plate and one slotted cover plate are provided, but the arrangement can also comprise a number of the two types of plates. The plates, which can in turn be clamped against one another by wing nuts 32 that are screwed onto the bolts 30, can be pulled out laterally, as indicated in Figure 11, and thus adjusted to a desired width, whereby with several plates it is advantageous if an additional pull-out guide rail 33 is used, which at the same time also stiffens the arrangement. A cover plate according to Fig. 11 to 13 is either adapted in height to the height or width of the opening to be covered or preferably designed so that several extendable strips of covers arranged one above the other or next to one another then ultimately fill the respective building opening.

The provision of a cranked cover plate 14b, as shown on the right in Fig. 13, makes it possible to attach the cover relatively far in front of the frame and thus also the window, so that there is space for the guide rail and, if necessary, also for a vacuum suction device between the cover and the window pane.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown. It would be possible in particular to apply a self-adhesive coating not only to one leg but also to the base leg of the profile rail 4, which would make it possible to attach the profile rail not only to a surface lying in the window plane but also to a surface of the frame oriented perpendicularly to it. In addition, the profile shown in Fig. 3 with an additional web 6a parallel to the plaster web 6 offers a very simple possibility of plasterboard installation.

Device for covering window or door openings in buildings by means of a covering film or the like which can be held to the frame with the aid of profile rails which are permanently fastened to the frame, characterized in that the profile rails (4) comprise a U-profile (5) which receives an edge of the covering film (10) or the like, the second leg (5b) of which, opposite the fastening leg (5a) on the frame, is provided with a vertically angled plastering web (6). 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the base leg (5c) of the U-profile (5) has an extension forming a second fastening leg (6a) running parallel and in the direction of the plastering web. 3.
