Description
Centrifugal electrostatic precipitators, in particular on motor vehicles the invention is a centrifugal electrostatic precipitator, in particular for motor vehicles, in which, as is known, the components from the centrifugal force and an electrostatic one Field for the separation of the float contained in a gas or air flow can be made usable. The invention is seen in that the in which the effect the separator chamber exposed to centrifugal force than transversely Large areas placed on the gas flow, e.g. B. discs or plates with a spray edge are formed, which are lined up on a non-spraying carrier. This way of arranging and training the spray electrodes in a centrifugal electrostatic precipitator is based on the following consideration. With ordinary, d. H. without the aid of centrifugal force working electrostatic precipitators shows that the suspended particles are not only on the designated precipitation electrodes, but also on the spray electrodes and affect its effect, so that in many cases its frequent or permanent mechanical cleaning of the spray electrodes is required, which makes operation difficult and the electrodes themselves endangered. This otherwise undesirable phenomenon becomes in accordance with of the invention using spray electrodes of the type mentioned for an increased Deposition made usable in a centrifugal electrostatic precipitator. In such a separator It is not only the centrifugal force that acts on the particles floating in the circling gas flow a; but part of the float is due to the gradient force according to the location of the greater field strength, i.e. in the case of the device according to the invention driven by the high voltage carrier of the electrode surfaces. These triggered by the gradient force. Migration of a float part is still going on supported by the secondary flow between the electrode disks. The result is that floating particles accumulate on or on the electrode surfaces and so on are withdrawn from the withdrawing gas stream. The spray effect on the edges of the pane suffers by no means under this storage effect, because the spray edges through the with more or less high speed passing gas stream of dust deposits be kept free.
The floating particles that have accumulated on the electrode surfaces can be longer Time to stay there without expecting operational disruptions. One has so the ability to significantly reduce the time between cleaning the electrodes to extend. This cleaning itself can vary depending on the nature of the buildup be done by blowing off, hosing down, washing, dipping or shaking. Especially for the operation on a motor vehicle has the possibility of larger amounts of separations to be able to store for a longer period of time without impairing the filter effect, significant benefits.
When the centrifugal electrostatic precipitator is vertical. take the large area Spray electrodes a horizontal one and therefore especially for dust storage convenient location. But also with an inclined or horizontal installation of the filter and the corresponding inclined or vertical position of the spray electrodes remain on them enough suspended particles adhere, especially if @es B. ' when cleaning of generator gas, suspended solids that z. B. as a result of tar a have adhesive properties.
When using a centrifugal electrostatic precipitator according to the invention for cleaning the combustion air of a motor vehicle engine, it is advisable to the wall of the separator tube opposite the spray edges of the storage electrodes to be provided with openings through which the centrifugal force and electrostatic deposited dust, sand or the like. Can enter the outside. Slides the storage electrodes containing separator tube of the centrifugal electrostatic precipitator can be with corrugations or Be provided with guide surfaces, preferably those that the course of the circulating gas or following the air flow, run helically and in this way the gas flow secure the twist given to it.
It is known per se in electrostatic precipitators., A z. B. from .a Wire existing spray electrode. to occupy with discs pointing towards the spray surrounding precipitation electrode, and the precipitation surface opposite to break through the spray disks. The invention is about the application such spraying discs in a centrifugal electrostatic precipitator for a special purpose, namely that of storing part of the deposits, with a further difference Compared to the known proposal, the stringing together of the storage electrodes on a non-spraying carrier comes into consideration.
Further possibilities emerge from the description below as well as from the drawing, on the two exemplary embodiments in longitudinal and cross-section are shown.
In the example according to Fig. I and 2, the electrocyclone consists of the cylindrical or conically tapered separator tube 2 with the tangential gas inlet i below and the z. B. also tangential clean gas outlet 17 above. The order the gas inlet and outlet can also be reversed, or the gas outlet, As is known with cyclones, it can also be installed as an axial pipe in the raw gas inlet. Further it is of course possible to use guide vanes instead of the gas swirl in a known manner by tangential inflow to: generate. Recommended for vehicle filters, however the one shown in Fig. i because of the easier accommodation of the insulation Design type.
In the longitudinal axis of the separator tube 2 there is a rigid, non-spraying rod 3 on which, depending on the length of the tube 2, two or more pairs of disks q., 5 are lined up at a distance. The edges of the disc are provided with spray spikes or edges. The mutual distance between the disks 4, 5 is only a few centimeters and corresponds approximately to the distance between the spray edges and the separator pipe. The support rod 3 is held by the bushing insulator g supported against the cover 8 of the tube 2 and connected to high voltage at io. To protect the insulator 9, which should be built as long as possible and can be provided with a corrugated surface to extend the creepage distance, the shielding surfaces 6, 7 are provided, of which the outer surfaces 6 are also used as guide surfaces for the racing gas flowing to the outlet 17 to serve.
The bottom i i of the separator tube 2 is removable and is usually held closed by the locking mechanism 12 under the action of the spring 13. This floor is effective in vehicle electrostatic precipitators for cleaning generator gas as an explosion flap. ' The mode of operation is as follows: Slides into the separator tube Incoming swirling raw gas flings the floats it contains against the pipe wall and thereby brings the main part to the separation, -as at 14 indicated in fig. This effect is supported by the spray disks q., 5, which charge the floats passing by their edges and in the direction of repel on the pipe wall acting as a counter electrode. Except for centrifugal force and the electrostatic formed between the electrode discs and the inner wall of the pipe However, the forces described at the beginning are still active in the fields, under their influence Dust masses on the Electrode disks 4, 5 are stored, as indicated for i 5. By lifting out the electrode system, e.g. B. at the same time with Removing the cover 8, the masses of time angry on them to be removed at time.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 is preferably about cleaning the intake air for vehicle engines. Here is the separator pipe 2 corrugated and at the points of the larger corrugation diameter with perforations 16 provided. The separated dust escapes through this. The storage electrode pairs 4, 5 are graduated in diameter following the corrugations of the tube 2. The way of working corresponds essentially to that according to fig. i and 2.
